  1. I have all of my medical care through VA in Kansas City. When I decided to have WLS, I contacted a VA Endocrinologist and she had me on everything pill wise you could imagine. I had to go through the regimen of this and that per there protocol before she would recommend WLS. Very long story short, if you are a Veteran, the VA will pay for your surgery outside their system. My VA facility does not perform the WLS, so they are paying for my surgery and all associated costs to a private physician. I feel pretty lucky. My date is Sept. 19th to be sleeved. If your a vet and have any questions, I will find your answer. Good Luck
  2. Sept. 19th. Start my pre-op Sept. 5th,,,,2 weeks with none, zero, nada of the kind of foods I have been used to all my 61 years. Gonna be one tough process for me to complete,,,very tough.
  3. I am not sure, but that is usually standard procedure.
  4. Do you know if there was a Chain of Custody form ? If so, it was for drugs.

    CPAP

I know the risk of death if you don't use the CPAP, but I simply cannot, repeat cannot use it. For reasons I cannot sleep with a mask on and hope the sleeve surgery will heal my apnea.
  6. Please note, I have given my clothing to Goodwill and associated donation facilities. Most if not all will pick them up for free. Why not donate your old clothes that are in good condition to the homeless also. Google in your area for donating your clothing. You can also write your donation off on your taxes,,,,,
  7. I do not condone smoking anything, it is an individual decision and not for any one person to judge. People shouldn't throw stones who live in glass houses.
  8. You definitely have a challenge ahead of you. If you focus on your challenge and succeed then your new journey will be awesome. You can do this!
  9. My pre-op starts Sept. 7th, and I am having wild mental swings about starting it. It will be the hardest thing for me to accomplish once started. Buy, I am committed to the process knowing the results will be worth it.
  10. I like to smoke pot occasionally, and I have for 40+ years. It isn't a big deal.
  11. September 19th,,,,pre-op is going to be the hardest thing I have ever done

  13. I have a friend that had the sleeve surgery and she has done very well. She is one of my go to people in my support group. Since you are seeing Dr. Fearing, I would call her office for a support group. I went to one 2 weeks ago and it helped a lot.
  14. My 2 week pre-op starts Sept. 7th. Any tips for a guy having problems coping with the fact my life is going to change as I know it?

    Help!!!!

I don't know how I am going to do this. My 2 week pre-op starts in about 3 weeks and it is going to be very hard for me, but I have the desire and really want to accomplish this new journey. Discipline and changing my thought process is really key to be successful I understand that.
  17. Sounds great, so since we live in the same area and have the same Dr. with our sleeves being 1 week apart, that's unique. Your'e not far off from starting your 2 week pre-op, how are you dealing with that? I am starting that phase in a few weeks and coping with it OK for now, but when the day comes I will be ready. Psychology plays a huge role I am finding out in this new journey.
  18. I just read the top post and sees here are 3 of us, how is everyone posting dealing with 2 week pre-op?

  20. I totally understand 100%, I am in the same situation. Tell me what you are especially having problems with, and we can help each other if you want to. Other people will add to your post I am sure.
  21. I am in exactly your same position. Would be glad to see what responses you receive.
  22. I am looking to start my pre-op right after Labor Day. I know this sounds bad, but I am wanting to spend time with friends Labor Day weekend having a bit fun (while really trying to watching what I eat) and kind of considering it my farewell to the food I like for a few months while in post-op. I am having a bit of a hard time with this, a very hard time even though I am psyched about having a new life. Pre-op will be hard, but I understand after a few days it gets easier. Not an excuse by any means, but I am a Kansas Boy raised with the usual country foods, meat, potatoes, gravy, home made bread, etc. Feedback?

    Premier Protein

I am still waiting for my date. I have passed all requirements, don't understand what is taking my Dr. so long,,,,
  24. I don't have a surgery date as of yet, but should within the next 2 weeks. It has been a very long wait so far but will (hopefully) be worth it. The actual surgery does not bother me, what does bother me is the hunger strike I will endure 2 weeks pre-op and then forever. Like all overweight people, I love to eat, which is why I am so overweight. Time to control it,,,,does anyone have any comments on getting over the mental hump of changing my lifestyle forever? I should be past this point by now and looking forward to new adventures.
