Doctor called today to change from sleeve to bypass😩
RSM replied to Sexycubita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did he say why a bypass would benefit vs. a sleeve? I have a sleeve scheduled for Sept. 19th, and was wondering about the benefits of a bypass. -

Frustrated and Need Help
RSM replied to LisaCan do this's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with the 2 above. Get some counseling,,,,,,,,,,,,to help you get back into touch with yourself. I'm a pre-op newbie, but it just makes sense to me. Good Luck! -
I came across this while roaming on the net, and found it worthwhile to share. Of course it is 100% recommended to follow your Dr.'s instructions. This guide may promote questions to ask your dietitian or Dr. for your optimal success. I am still in the learning phase as my 2 week pre-op starts Sept. 5th, so the post surgery veterans already know this. https://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-big-gastric-sleeve-diet-guide/

The Big Gastric Sleeve Diet Guide
RSM replied to RSM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is why I wrote in the original post ---"Of course it is 100% recommended to follow your Dr.'s instructions."-----. This was just a reference guide, as every Dr. has their own instructions to follow. Just some info to give newbies or someone interested in having this procedure a idea what they will have to do, ,,,,, and for life to be successful. It is not meant to be followed to a T. -Thanks- -

Doctors office insisting on requirements my insurance company does not need

Being raised and bred in Kansas, I love and always have loved steak, potatoes, gravy, biscuits, corn-on-the-cob, pecan pie, etc., etc. Of course it shows being as to where I am weight wise, right now in my life. So, I am on a Food Funeral pity pot rant. I went to Papa Murphy's yesterday for a dinner pizza,,and on my way there I stopped at McDonald's. I consumed 2 double cheeseburgers and a large fry, I ate it in the pizza joint parking lot before picking it up. That is purely sick my friends, that is how bad I have been. I was thinking about hiring a hearse and driver to take me out with a motorcycle cop to stop traffic for my Food Funeral stops. I was out of control and spiraling. But, I think I have come to my senses , FINALLY, after receiving a phone call from a nurse this morning at the hospital where I am going to have my surgery on Sept. 19th. She called to setup my pre-op appts. With the anesthesiologist, a 2 hr. required class, and intense lab work. My Dr. office also called me this morning, and setup the appt. time for her pre-op on the same day. I don't know what came over me since putting these dates and times in my office calendar, but for the 1st time reality set in, in that this thing is for real, it's not a joke, it's a life changer, and a life saver. I knew all this before,,, but for some reason all the sudden I finally get it. I finally get it! I haven't felt so mental in a positive way about it until now. Now my thinking about not setting myself up for failure with such crappy thinking, and making excuses for my irresponsible eating binges is on the right course. I know me and now I am on a mission. No more of my favorite carbonated drinks, I can handle it. No more fatty foods, I can handle it. And no more bad carbs, I can handle it. Going forward, I will be put to the real test starting with dinner tonight, and tomorrow breakfast, lunch, etc. I know me and I can do this. I have to do this as now, I am thinking smart and responsibly for the very 1st time. We will see how things go and I will write on here how my journey continues. I have excellent support from someone that is not family, but someone I have recently been in touch with that can relate 100% with my daily experiences. That is the one thing I really, really appreciate is not only her support, and you know who you are, but the support I have on this web site, the personal experiences on this forum and honest responses to my postings. Thank you,,,,,,,,,

Thanks for updating me on this. Just trying to find out what to use for shakes with good protein levels. I noticed a friend posted she uses a vanilla shake with strawberry milo, I thought was a good flavor combo.

I suppose we all handle this subject differently. I am not a death row inmate of course, but rather am looking at this time as if I am losing my BFF. And, right now I know I can eat whatever I want and how much I want while fully knowing this is "stinkin' thinkin". I just wanted other peoples perspectives and how they handled such a controversial experience. Personally, this isn't the first time I have experienced a indulgence loss. 17 years ago I quit smoking cold turkey and I didn't smoke a carton my last few days, I simply just quit. 2 years ago I quit alcohol, now that was hard. So you say, if you can quit those then what's the problem? I don't know, except that food is a necessity and we can't live without it I guess. Thanks for you post.

The closer I get to my 2 week pre-op (Sept. 5th) the more I think about the life changes I am about to commit to,,,for life. I am cognizant, very aware and frustrated at the same time as my eating habits and style should be changing as we speak, and it has not. Knowing that I will be on this very strict diet for 2 weeks seems surreal to me, and knowing after the surgery I will have to be disciplined and very committed to this or I will not succeed in my new journey. Right now I think about going to a Chinese buffet for lunch and gorging myself, what the hell is that all about? How can I make the mental changes? I want to , I need to and I have to. Having worked with my Endocrinologist for a year now and talking with my therapist a few times has me thinking more about "getting it" and "doing it" mentality. This is an ongoing process, I understand this and I hate to say "but", but I am 61 years old and very used to my lifestyle. 17 years ago I quit tobacco and 2 years ago I quit alcohol, now if I can do those "cold turkey" then what the hell? How do I find the special key to unlock the part of my mind to overcome this? Personally, I do not ever speak my mind like this but I want it so bad it hurts. Any suggestions how I might find the peace to put these thought demons out of my head? Hopefully this makes sense and someone can relate with what I am going through, I don't have much time to "get it".

Why not just go with a proven method such as the Sleeve where they do it and remove 75% of the stomach? I would do a ton of research and info gathering before you have a procedure without good results, just my opinion -
Don't beat yourself up. My God you are human! I wouldn't necessarily call it a mistake but rather a very minor slip up. Not a big deal. Obviously you were cooking for your family and wanted to be sure it tasted good for them. Next time, maybe have someone sample it for you. Have a great day!

I will be starting my 2 week pre-op soon. Ugh! Can anyone suggest a protein fruit drink or protein whey drink mix that actually tastes good, and won't break my pocketbook?

I take about 21 meds a day. Some are pretty big. Hopefully after my sleeve Sept. 19th has healed enough and I lose the weight I expect I can alleviate most of these. But for now I am concerned with absorption. Does any one have problems with their meds after their sleeve or any tips besides talking to my Dr.?, about absorption and best way to take them? Thanks--
