Gall bladder Did the er check your gall bladder? Pain radiating from front to back is often related to the gall bladder. It's usually under the ribs though. I get left shoulder pain which is very common after vsg. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Missy161 replied to Newme17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just read a great article about vsg - I was researching why we can't eat and. Drink at the same time. It really helped me understand. That has been a big challenge for me. Anyway , I thought I'd post the link here. Also, broke out the box of clothes I haven't been able to wear in years and all but one pair of pants fit me out of like 8-10 pairs of pants! It was so nice! Here's the link: http://www.laparoscopic.md/sleeve/what-digestive-changes-occur-after-gastric-sleeve-surgery Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135 -
Make at home Protein Shakes
Missy161 replied to rayb70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go on Pinterest and search. I have a mutts ninja and just put that in my search and found a ton of recipes. I usually just trial and error it though - some Greek yogurt a few berries a scoop of protein powder some ice a little milk or juice and whip it up- less is more or you'll have so much leftover! My kids love them too. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135 -
I like genepro because it is unflavored and dissolves easily- there's some controversy that it's not as much protein as stated but my doc, nutritionist and hospital all say it's good so I still use it. Thanks for the reminder - I keep forgetting to add it to my food! Cottage cheese is good and I've been enjoying chicken salad and tuna fish. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135

You won't need your vitamins until 2 weeks after surgery. I would suggest not overdoing it anyway - I got a case of protein shakes for my after my surgery and still have 4 in the fridge 6 week later. I'm sure your surgeon has resources- did they give you a packet or info or have you seen a dietician? They are always great help. I'd be sure to get some sugar free popsicles to have on hand. They were my lifesavers. There are all kinds of protein shakes out there even at Walgreens and the gas stations. Just get ones with less than 5 g of sugar and lots of protein. Also avoid sugar alcohol (shows on the label below sugar). They can make you feel yucky! Good luck all! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135

Breast Reduction-Help Please Bra Problems
Missy161 replied to ssflbelle's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Definitely go to a store to be measured. My daughter is a 34 G waiting for a reduction to be approved. We went to Soma. They were wonderful. They didn't have a bra that would fit her though in the store. But they measured and then brought her all of the styles in her size. I think you will be surprised. I should explain- the sugar alcohols are what made me feel sweaty, nauseous, dizzy. Google why does sugar alcohol make me sick after vsg . Made so much sense. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135

The triple zero yogurt is the only one I can tolerate out of the regular sf brands because it has no artificial sweeteners. I tried yoplait 100 and it made me so sick- realized I don't tolerate sugar alcohols hardly at all. So glad the triple zero comes in great flavors! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135

BMI:52 ready to do the surgery, afraid of "DEATH"!!
Missy161 replied to KZave's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do your research on your surgeon. Check his/her statistics. Check his/her reviews here and online. Yes, sometimes complications happen. My headband had some with his surgery 11 years ago, but now he is healthy and has maintained a more than 100 pound weight loss. There are far more complications from obesity that weight loss will correct. Diets don't work for most people. If you want your life back surgery maybe the only option. I've lost just 30 pounds and already have so much more energy have put diabetes behind me and feel so much better Don't let fear rule your life anymore. Make an informed thoughtful decision and stick to it. Good luck. Praying for peace for you through the process. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135 -
Not telling Mom/some others....opinions
Missy161 replied to ProfessorSlim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Definitely not something to be ashamed of! But we can choose to keep it private or to share - that's why I chose to keep it to a few trusted people. I know if I told my in laws they wouldn't respect my choice and everyone would know. I'm happy with my choice. Whatever you choose you should be proud you have made the difficult choice to start this journey and take your health into your hands Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 194 GW 135 -

Not telling Mom/some others....opinions
Missy161 replied to ProfessorSlim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have only told my husband and one of my 4 children- my kids are 13,16, 18 & 20. I told the 18 year old. I also told 2 friends at work and 2 close friends out of work. That's it. Hubby told his family and they blabbed it to everyone. He still feels like he gets weird looks from people and comments like he took the easy way out- believe me this is not easy and he has so many complications. So no- only tell people you trust. It is no ones business but yours. No one else has a right to know. If you feel like you have to tell her something make up another surgery. I told people I was having surgery to fix my bile ducts and a haiatal hernia. I have ended up in the hospital once or twice a year for bile ducts in my liver being clogged. The dr said losing weight might help that so technically this surgery will fix that (lol). I hope this helps. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 195 GW 135 -
Getting ready to complete the journey
Missy161 replied to jkppt's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I went to the plastic surgeon with my daughter who is getting a breast reduction. I asked how much a panni is and they said 8k-12k. Ouch! I aslo asked how often insurance pays for. It- he said never. I am mildly depressed. I am hoping my loose skin won't be too bad after I lose my weight. He said to wait until I plateau 3-4 months and then come see him even if I am not at goal yet. He also said there is nothing that can be done for the loose and sagging skin without surgery. I guess I'm a long way off from that stage. I just wanted to have an idea. Why do we fall off the wagon? & How to get back on?
Missy161 replied to bostonmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My dr and his team want his patients to eat two different items for our meal so that it feels like a meal I guess. Tonight I had what the family ate - grilled chicken and grilled veggies (squash, zucchini and carrots) about 1 ounce of veggies and 2 ounces of meat. I am 5.5 weeks out. It was so good.
