I am having the same problem. Seen I dr yesterday for post op appointment he told me to make sure I'm sitting straight up when drinking. I've been sitting in a recliner drinking water. So now I sit up while sitting. Take smaller sips and I've started walking. I hate walking but I've really seen a difference in the gas pain since I started. Me and my husband can walk a mile now. I also take dulcogas. It's chewable gas tablets. Hope it gets better for you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

Protein shakes with 7 grams sugar is this too much?
sylvia2017 replied to sylvia2017's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Seen my surgeon yesterday and he said the sugars were fine in the protein shakes. He was very happy with the 30 lbs I lost in 13 days. Told me to keep doing what I'm doing. So Yay I can continue with the good tasting protein shakes. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Typical day. I get up drink a protein shake with 30 grams protein. Usually takes me an hour. Wait 30 minutes then start drinking water till lunch. Wait 30 minutes them do about 1/3 cup oikos triple zero Greek yogurt. I like strawberry and the salted caramel. It has 15 grams protein. Wait 30 minutes. Start drinking water. Drink all day. Then for supper I'll either finish the yogurt or if I'm not nauseous I'll puree 1/2 can chicken rice soup the small can. I take my time and savor it. About 30 minutes. Wait 30 minutes then back on the water. I use apple juice to get my crushed pills and supplements down just enough for about 2 drinks. And if I get hungry late I'll have a sugar free popcicle. I'm probably not getting enough calories but I'm getting my water in. And if I do the soup and I'm hungry still later I'll finish the yogurt for the extra protein. I had a bad hunger day one day so I made a protein smoothie I put one scoop unflavored whey protein powder, 2 packets splenda, about 1/4 banana and 2 strawberries with a little crushed ice blended it. Then I just sipped on it to keep hunger down. Plus I'm walking 1 mile everyday. It may not be tge right way but it's working for me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi my name is Sylvia. I'm 41 mother of 2. My son is 15 and my daughter is 21. My daughter got my best years before I let my weight get me down. We were always going camping, boating, swimming, amusement parks. But 10 years ago I hurt my back and haven't been active since. I remember about 6 years ago taking my son to an amusement park waiting in line for an hour to ride a roller-coaster only to not fit in the seat. Thank goodness I had a friend with me and my son got to ride. I was humiliated. Haven't been back. I feel I've robbed him of a lot of experiences because I physically couldn't do it. Now he is starting to get big himself. When I hit the 300 mark back last August I new it was time to make some changes. I wanna be a better mother, wife, and reclaim my life. I was sleeved 6/22/17 and don't regret it one bit. I'm already down 34 lbs my feet and legs are no longer swollen and painful. My energy is up and my spirit has been lifted. I look forward to the future. It's about time I've done something for my self as well. I want to be active and have fun with my son before he grows up on me. My daughter is getting married in October and I'm excited and not dreading people seeing me feeling self-conscious. Also my husband of 22 years deserves to have his wife back. Really looking forward to our time. Ready to travel and just enjoy life. I'm so excited everytime I look in the mirror now. Can't wait to see how I will change in the months to come. Protein shakes with 7 grams sugar is this too much?
sylvia2017 replied to sylvia2017's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I go 7/3/17 for my first post op follow up with the surgeon. I'm gonna see what he says. As of today I'm down 34 lbs and I'm drinking lots of water probably not getting as many calories as I should and haven't had dumping so maybe I'm ok. I had one day where my sugar was way too low I had only gotten in about 200 calories and 30 grams protein. I'm just eating/ drinking enough till I feel full. Sometimes 2 bites does it. It's working now. Just don't wanna stall and wanna stay healthy. Thanks for all the feed back. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
sylvia2017 replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It took me a year pre op to get approved. 6 months weight management program, dietician, psychologist the whole nine yards so I told everyone. I think that it's about all I've talked about since August. I was more embarrassed about being at one point 330 lbs. I didn't care what people thought I was proud of my hard work. And as I'm losing weight I share my experience. It's easier for me to just talk about it and get it out. People gonna judge either way so I say I got the sleeve and I'm doing great. Don't let anybody make you feel weird about it. It's your journey. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Where is the Love!!!...Brotherly & Sisterly Love :-)
sylvia2017 replied to Sammie1221's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm 10 days post op and doing great. Day of surgery weighed 319 now I'm 289. Hard to believe but 30 lbs in 10 days. Most of it was water weight. My legs and feet were always swollen. Now I can see my ankle bones and calves are smaller. Also the first week it's hard to get much down. My dr had me on clear diet for 2 days and I couldn't stand broth so I lived on jello, apple juice, protein waters. And lots of water. The 3rd day I could have protein shakes, sf chocolate pudding, and Greek yogurt. I still only eat about 3 bites. Or can only get a half of the shake down but I drink lots of water. I'm getting about 400 or less calories. Oikos triple zero Greek yogurt is my go to for meals at this point. I have sf popcicles and organic tomato juice with seasalt found at publix it's a nice change from all the sweet stuff. Publix also has a protein milk called Rockin refuel that has 30 grams protein taste just like real chocolate milk and it's lactose free. I love it. The first 5 days were hard for me nausea was really bad. And smells really bothered me. It's gotten better. The pain was not near as bad as I imagined. Protein, water, and walking is the key. Also as soon as you fill full stop. Even if I have 2 bites and feel full I quit. I hate to vomit and haven't so far. Listen to your body and you will do great. It's hard and you will have days better than others. I literally just walk it off. That helps. Good luck to you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Day 9 went from 319 to 289. This liquid diet is rough but working. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

Awesome. People are amazed when I tell them how fast it's coming off. I'm 9 days out and I've lost 30 lbs. From 319 to 289. Mostly fluid loss I imagine but I'll take it. Makes all this worth it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Anyone sleeve the week of 6/25?
sylvia2017 replied to Randy-J's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pillows pillows pillows. That's how I did it. My incision is on my right side and that's the side I sleep on. Wasn't able to sleep on that side till day 7 but used a pillow to relive the pressure. I'm nine days out now. Getting better. Sleeved on 6/22/17 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app -
June 21 2017 new beginnings
sylvia2017 replied to Sc882012's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm glad to hear that. The weakness was rough the first few days. I'm on day 9 nausea is better but gas and heartburn is getting me now. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm 41 had my sleeve 6/22/17. My starting weight was 319 one week later I'm down to 290. I had severe nausea and couldn't stand the smell of food. After about day 4 I realized the nausea had a lot to do with I wasn't getting enough calories. Now that I'm getting more protein I don't feel as sick. The main problem I'm having now is heartburn and gas. And I'm not walking like I should. Trying to adjust to this new diet and feeling weak. My fear is the upcoming holiday 4th of july. We always have a huge family bbq at my house and I just don't know how I'll cope. Anyone have any tips on how to be part of the party when you can't eat or drink the same as your guest? No since surgery. I lost 25 lbs in 5 days. But I did have a lot of fluid retention. My feet and calves always stayed swollen. Now I can see the bones in my feet and my calves are no longer tight. But also in the first 5 days I could only eat about 2 bites jello and maybe 2 spoons of broth a day. Mostly eating crushed ice and water. My doc let me have protein shakes and sf pudding on the 3rd day. But my nausea was very bad. All my shirts are getting loose. I couldn't believe it either.
