African American vsgers!
MerryMarie replied to theshrinkingdutchess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just had my 3 month post op and I am down about 40lbs. I have about 50lbs to go to reach my goal weight. I am doing pretty good overall as I have had no issues post op and can eat whatever I want without issue which is nice. I workout about 5 days a week so that I can keep toning while the weight comes off. My least favorite part is the plateaus but I’m learning to not get as frustrated with them lol -

Stopped losing weight at 2 weeks
MerryMarie replied to Kristinisgettingskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stalled from week two to week four and my doctor had already warned me about it. Even though the scale didn’t move I had lost 10lbs of fat and gained it in muscle. I think my plateau lasted about 4 weeks and then it was back to losing. I think I just had another week of a plateau last week. It will continue to happen as your body adjusts so it will be ok. -
NSV. Good bye forever. What your NSV?
MerryMarie replied to opie7799's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I rode rollercoasters all day yesterday. It was an awesome NSV! -
What did you wish you knew before surgery?
MerryMarie replied to boltsgirl1012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take a robe and comfy easy on/off slippers to the hospital. You have to walk and its cold in the hospital. Walk even when you don't feel like it, it really helps. Also a small pillow is awesome between you and the seatbelt. I used it for about a week or so. I think that I was well prepared for surgery but the pain that most people experienced I did not have. I had surgery on Wednesday and went back to work on Monday. -
Am I eating enough?
MerryMarie replied to graziellabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its normal. Your stomach is still healing. By the time you get to about 6-8 weeks out you'll think you're eating a ton and by a ton I mean 1/2 cup at a time. Good luck! -
Thats awesome Im glad you're doing well. I am still struggling to get all of my water in. I was a gallon per day prior to surgery but now Im struggling to get a half gallon in since my stomach gets full so fast. I am at my plateau right now which sucks but I get it. It happens and I'll get past it.

Had my EGD today. No issues so thats great! Pre op diet starts on July 5th: 2 shakes and a sensible meal. No concerns with being able to handle that so I'm ready!
-
I've heard that some people don't enjoy some foods the same or either don't tolerate them the same. This is in the context of foods that you are supposed to have not high fat/sugar stuff. Has anyone had this issue? Which foods are a no-no for you now?
-
I had my two week follow-up today. Down 26lbs which includes my pre-op diet. I was moved to soft foods and I am ecstatic that I get to skip pureed foods lol. All of my restrictions were removed so onward and upward! Congratulations to everyone! Just remember it will get better!

That's awesome and Im in the same boat 12 days out and I've been fine since right after surgery. No issues and I am very grateful. Good luck!
-
So sorry you have a rough start. I didn't have any issues after surgery so I have been doing really well. Ready to move on to the next food phase since the Im over the sweetness of the shakes all day.

Post-ops: what are you doing to keep busy?
MerryMarie replied to sunmeadow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I have always taken an iron supplement but I was just much colder right after surgery. I am about 10 days out now and it seems to have gone away. -
Just been Sleeved
MerryMarie replied to SleevesRbetterThanPantz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a brand called 'SixStar' whey protein. That I found at Walmart which was unflavored and it is advertised to dissolve in anything on the label. I have added it to broth and yogurt with no change in consistency or flavor so I would say it works very well. Just be careful though when you add it to anything hot, you don't want it to be so hot that it destroys the protein molecules. -

The first time I had to sneeze was about 3 days after. Dear God I thought my intestines fell out through my incisions! I can say one week out its not near as bad as day 3 lol -
Most absurd thing people said to you when you told them you were having WLS?
MerryMarie replied to mytime4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you diet pills are terrible. Way to many dangerous side affects in many of them. -
