    Ramen Noodles

Since you absolutely have to eat them (no other choices right now) I say cook the noodles until they are fully expanded (bordering on overcooked) to try to prevent them front expanding further in your stomach. Also you won’t need very much to eat now, so how much of it you eat in a serving will be limited anyway. But as soon as you can shop again ask the good people of this forum and they will help you chose things that will stretch your budget. (On a side note, I would love to see a thread created for an extremely tight budget - Bariatric style) Good Luck ❤️

    Locs/Dreads/Dreadlocks

I have locs (22 yrs now) and I did A LOT of low manipulation and semi free forming when I originally had surgery in the end of 2017. I was so worried about hair loss I did a ton of research in med journals on treatments for Telogen Effluvium (the type of hair loss most WLS patients experience) you can find a compilation of the journals I found most promising here: I had mild thinning along my temples and didn’t lose any locs. Pics included❤️
  13. You could try going back to the therapist and saying “Since our last session I have thought a lot about what you said and…” tell them what you would do in the event of any inconvenience to “the Plan”. I think they are looking for signs of adaptability and growth. However, If you have an eating disorder, it’s possible they are probing to see if you need more care before moving the process along.

    Do these things improve?

Yes, it does get better with daily improvement. It’s not the majority but some of us have a rough start, prolonged pain and delayed healing but turn out just fine! I felt a lot of pain the first 2.5 weeks after VSG and then one day I felt significantly better. If you feel like things are not getting better in a reasonable time or getting worse let your team know. Congratulations and speedy recovery

Lost weight, but don't feel good.

Sorry you feel less than your best. All great advice above and another potential cause could be low iron levels. Definitely ask your doctor to check the numbers. Get Well Soon ❤️

    4 yr Surgiversary!

It has been 4yrs since my (initial) WLS. Within that time I made great new friends, found love, had a revision, lost a parent, witnessed a pandemic from one of it’s epicenters, had plastics, had new additions to my extended family, relocated, had one child graduate from high school and more. Almost none of these things were weight related but somehow everything else in my life seemed easier to focus on without worrying about weight. My weight has been stable since I hit goal a few years ago with only minor fluctuations. I’m proud to say I will always identify as a WLS patient. I thought I wouldn’t feel like one years out but I find I am consciously honoring this lifestyle in the majority of my choices. I’m grateful we have this forum and I’m especially grateful to everyone in the WLS community that make it a positive and supportive environment to thrive in.

    Introduction

To start: Check if your insurance will cover surgery (if using insurance). Google Bariactric surgeons in your area/Network (reviews, etc). Ask for a referral from your Primary Physician (if needed). Good luck!
