I felt the same way when I completed my masters degree (I know not WLS related ) The accomplishment felt Sooooooo empty. I think it had something to do with my believing it would magically make me happy when I reached 5he goal. I forgot to enjoy life along the way. WLS and weight loss cannot be your only goal in life (or a degree ) it HAS to be the tool to help you achieve all of your life goals. Otherwise once it's achieved and you stop to assess you may not have anything else.

Protein shakes no flavor and flavored. What's best?
GreenTealael replied to SexySleevey's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
It was touted as having no flavor so I thought I could add it to food and mainly water with nothing else to instantly increase protein but it was not flavorless enough to use often. I kept reaching for traditional flavored protein shakes and at $50 a canister it wasn't worth it IMHO -
Able to eat more than I should

Can you try to simply go back to full liquids and work your way through the stages, also how much water and exercise are you getting in? -
Gallbladder removed during surgery
GreenTealael replied to Gotalose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't have my gallbladder out during my sleeve surgery but I suggest you have him there until you make it to your room and are on pain meds. You want an advocate in case of anything. Very important because you may not be able to make decisions while in pain. Then keep in touch through calls. -
Main ingredients in sennokot is senna. You can buy its natural tea form and drink semi regularly. Helps alot takes about 8-10 hours but it's a natural process. On a side note I have very little tolerance these days for sugar substitutes including Stevia. When ever I feel like I need a digestive cleaning I use them and viola!

1 month out, feel like I'm starting over
GreenTealael replied to genericwlshandle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Until you see your doctor go right back to full liquids, at least turn as hard as you can to get the water in so you're not dehydrated... -
for fun! what was your 'last meal'?
GreenTealael replied to star2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was homemade but great. Succulent teriyaki salmon over garlic butter sauteed kale. I didn't have weight loss requirements or the preop diet so I kinda put myself on one for one week prior to surgery... Now im two months post op and feel no regrets and definitely not missing carbs loaded food -
Not what I expected :-(
GreenTealael replied to Angelina_Ballerina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Never too early / late to go back to basics. Go full liquids and work your way back to solids... Also are you following a vitamin routine? B12 aids in the conversion of food to energy (metabolism ) worth looking into I also have no time to hit the gym so I wturn to music at home and throw a dance party where I literally move every part of me. Do this for 4 songs and that's around 20mins of exercise... -
Pink bean stew: Drain and rinse canned beans simmer with spices tomato sauce and water until VERY tender IMHO pink beans have the easiest outer skin to digest.
-
Cheese sticks or laughing cow spreads, peanuts or peanut butter, protein shakes. Carry with you everywhere It's not forever and you can reverse starvation mode when you get back But definitely stay hydrated

Can anyone answer the following questions ??
GreenTealael replied to Anna2012's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hey there did you have any adverse reactions to not focusing on protein, like hair loss, etc? I have been choking down protein for proteins sake and I'm absolutely ready to move on... But don't want any issues. Have any advice? -
Coffee after weight loss surgery?
GreenTealael replied to kasensmom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Worth noting that caffeine is a diuretic, surgeons fear dehydration early out which can be worse than the initial surgery due to the complications it causes. I would speak to them again and confirm your options... -
It’s NOT a DIET!
GreenTealael replied to Connie Stapleton PhD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Nice, are you still protein oriented like most surgeons want or do you not focus on that. I know vegan lifestyle and wls is tough... -
Protein shakes no flavor and flavored. What's best?
GreenTealael replied to SexySleevey's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I've tried Isopure unflavored, wasn't a fan. My suggestion is to try a bunch out AFTER surgery. No telling what you will be able to tolerate then. I made the mistake of stocking up ahead of time on a shake I can't even get or keep down. -
Coffee after weight loss surgery?
GreenTealael replied to kasensmom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Decaf Coffee was on my tray the day after surgery , tried then and was no problem Two weeks post OP I stopped by wholefoods juice bar and realized the only thing I could have was coffee. So I ordered an espresso to mix with premier caramel protein shake but I Forgot to order decaf and felt fluttery like my my heart rate was raised. Never again. And I just don't love it like I used to... Now I just make Maxwell house decaf at home, when I want the taste of coffee. I won't even bother to spring for the good stuff anymore... Because decaf Have fun! -

My surgeon gave out a small handbook on post OP diet and most helpful thing in it was a recipe for high protein hot chocolate. Using protein powder make a smooth paste with cold water add chocolate packet and stur it into the paste, lastly add hot but not boiling water to the mix and viola! I was able to make mine 20 grams of protein in 10 oz. Also premier caramel shake added to decaffeinated coffee as creamer is luxurious...

Dates that don't revolve around food

Tons of people feel and felt this way, so don't give up. It kind ofblike buyers remorse. And depression is common after surgery. But It DOES get better and time is the key. Remind yourself constantly the reason you had surgery. Keep going and stay very close to your plan also try to figure out what triggers the reaction and steer clear of it. You can do this!!!

Once upon a time an ER doctor told me too bad we didnt live close to the ocean because Swimming in it would have solved a contact dermatitis rash I developed. I was prescribed conventional medication but what he said stuck. I was perplexed why he would say that and I started doing research and apparently salt water solves all kind of skin issues. So I began to make Sole (super concentrated sea salt water ) anytime I had an acne flare up, bug bites, cuts, abrasions, etc. And it does work and quickly usually overnight and my skin is considerably better. I simply wipe it invoked a toner at night and sleep my worries away. I've done it so many times I know exactly what to expect from my developing irritations in the morning... Mostly gone from being dried out. Also I usually resort to hydrocortisone cream for allergic reaction on my skin and I'm not above using over the counter athletes foot cream - clomitrazol (spelling?) for anything suspiciously close to fungal... Let me know how it goes for you.

Oh... I understand completely. Still alternatives may be a be help I can personally tell you that the quest brand of protein cookies are out of this world good. So good I had to keep checking the wrapper to make sure I wasn't going off plan. Seriously I thought it was a regular treat and I got super nervous. As for chips I don't think the protein ones will come close to the real deal but give them a try!!!
