Would you do it again?
GreenTealael replied to ElseeG's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
If you have the funds yes, but Mexico will likely be a third to a half of US self pay prices Me... I'd do it all again but I was not a self pay or have a low BMI -
Also for some of us the main reason for having surgery vs dieting alone was to reduce or eliminate comorbidites quickly before they killed us . If you don't have any and are on the fence give dieting a shot until it doesn't work anymore Because you'll likely have to self pay according to your BMI without comorbidities.

Not Enough Stomach Removed
GreenTealael replied to Shannon226's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Has anyone who thinks their pouch is too big tested the restrictions by weight or measuring out pure solid protein (chicken beef fish etc ) and eating only that? Nothing in addition, no veggie grains or excess sauces? You may be eating slider foods and not realize it. Also timing how long you eat for matters, 30 mins only according to my practice... The food does eventually empty from the stomach. Doesn't stay there for hours. -
Here is advice my nutritionist gave me use measuring cups, start with 1/4 cup size and use that as your guide. You will likely not eat that much in the 30 min eating window, eating for longer than that is considered grazing which has been known to cause regain Don't try to eat more than that yet. Slowly work up to that goal 4 oz is the amount of dense protein recommended when at the solids stage and that's a ways off for you

Stomach streatched please help me
GreenTealael replied to Cindy757's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Likely not stretched out. I also had surgery in November and as of recently I can eat more. Just how it works sometimes. If you're really worried ask your surgeon to check Here's a few things to consider : How big was the portion ? How long did it take you to eat it? Why were you unable to notice you ate the whole thing ? Did you ever continue eating past your full sensation? Are these types of foods allowed on your nutrition plan? Keep track of these things when you eat and it will be less likely that you'll make the same mistakes And if you are still worried ask your surgeon for help -
Hi there I also use myfitness pal because I haven't found anything as good. They have a great program and community as well The common misconception is that it's not tracking the info, it is. in reality the only thing you can't do is complete the journal which posts it to your feed. I guess they want to discourage anything seemingly praising under eating or eating disorder like, kudos to them. You can still log everything, watch the trends, update your progress etc.

Yogurt, string cheese, protein shakes ,eggs, turkey chilli and if all else fails protein chips, protein cookies and protein crackers. But I advise you speak with your surgeon or nutrition to discover the problem... Can't eat that way forever... -
How Come We Never Look Like We Think We Look (Especially in Photos)???
GreenTealael replied to FluffyChix's topic in The Lounge
NEVER EVER let anyone (who's not a photographer ) take your pics besides yourself. And even then review and redo. In selfies I look like the talented smoldering eyed ingenue, Other peoples photos.. Confused, Crossed eye and greasy -

Congrats, go as low as you can but don't stress. -
So the sleeve does not alter the digestive system like RNY, what I noticed is at first during liquid stages it was a loose but I expected this since liquids in liquids out. Then mostly normal. No excessive odor or crazy color/consistancy. Once in a while im slightly SLIGHTLY constipated. So get your fiber in.

How does one get past the fear of having ANY bypass surgery?
GreenTealael replied to Eire_Rose's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I choose the sleeve but I too was scared. So scared that I set my affairs in order, turned to prayer and reminded myself I lived every moment of my life and wouldn't change a thing (except being obese) -
