Dating after surgery and weight loss
GreenTealael replied to TaylorMade4One's topic in The Gals' Room
Im still single AF... -
I am six months out and can eat more than just last month but i started working out pretty heavily which can stimulate appetite also It is highly unlikely that it has stretched (ask for diagnostics if really worried) most likely the swelling from surgery is gone which leaves more room for food. Some one please correct me if i am wrong... Also beware of slider foods with offer no resistance in the new stomach which leaves you hungrier quicker. They can also lead to higher than expected kcal counts . For me its yogurt nuts and seeds. Seemingly healthy right except 28-30g of nuts are 160-190 kcals!

Did you start iron supplements? Sometimes it turns stool black.

Gained 6-8 lbs this week and had to update my weight on the ticker... Really sucked. Sigh
-
I’m being honest, just...not the most up-to-date. I WAS 249 a week ago, I promise! Ticker doesn’t need to know I was 250 today.

Should We Just "Accept Our Best Shot" and Not Be Bothered If We Don't Make Goal?
GreenTealael replied to FluffyChix's topic in Rants & Raves
I hope no one is judging you for what you want for yourself That would suck I hope you dont think i am, because im not. Im solely focused on me and I only can state what i want for myself, which is why i would be happy even if i dont make it to goal as long as im in range of it -

I have a question about maintenance, how do you know when you have truly reached it? Does your body signal this or will you come up with a goal with your team? -
Should We Just "Accept Our Best Shot" and Not Be Bothered If We Don't Make Goal?

i was pregnant essentially for three years straight. Each pregnacy gain compounded on top of the other . I gained around 110 pounds total. Decided to work on a total lifestyle change for my family by becoming vegan for a year (totally unsustainable for me) then vegetarian (or carbetarian lol ) for 10. I lost about 30lbs that way and was there for years. I was never an obese child but i wasnt small either. As a teen i was in the range of 150. I was about 165ish when i got married and about the same when i got pregnant. I ate normally, i dont think i had any im eating for two moments. I also dont think i ever placed any real focus on losing weight until it became medically necessary. I was so busy that i put myself last, never recognizing my weight was a problem because i was "healthy fat" lol I think people should have goals and smash them but not everyones goal is a set number, sometimes its range. Im ok with a range as long as its sustainable. I really only care about long term changes. -

My weight gain came from pregnancy. Looking back i now understand that I knew how to maintain a weight but not lose weight. -

Idk how to feel about this, im a sleever so different game entirely, but i would be happy at my personal best if i could maintain it for life. I would happly settle in the overweight catagory and focus on other life goals. Im only willing to focus on this for about another year and then i need it to just be apart of my life, not the main event. I want the diet that im on now to be my lifestyle forever so i didnt give up things that will make it unsustainable but thats just me. I dont have food addiction or anything like that and maybe the article was written by someone in the same boat as me who does not understand the struggle of a person with food addiction. -
I may try this...

How much weight loss by 4 months post op sleeve?
GreenTealael replied to camopink27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Agreed -
Lol super funny, I just find it odd that if you are learning to drive, taking college courses or hell even buy new clothes no one deeply questions the reasons. Its understood that it must be necessary if you are doing it. Buy start losing weight (especially through wls) and everyone suddenly needs more explanations, like you are purchasing an unnecessary luxury item you cant afford...
-
Sigh, Why does it feel like being obese is criminal activity amd wls is like rehab... I feel like i should not have to feel the need to make excuses beyond im on a strict diet...

Might be cancelling Surgery. Given the choice would you do it again?
GreenTealael replied to Chickensoup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Absolutely! I worried myself into almost backing out. I decided to simply follow my NUT pre surgery diet plan to the letter for 30 days and ended up gaining. That was the moment i knew i didnt have the tools to complete the job alone. I was sold. VSG was for me. I had an easy recovery which will not be everyones journey, but i was willing to deal with the side effects if any arose. Do what is right for you. Safe journey! -
How much weight loss by 4 months post op sleeve?
GreenTealael replied to camopink27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost about 40-45 lbs at that point. -
I think im still conflicted as i have tried excuses of being on a diet, not hungry, upset stomach etc... That may swing with strangers but friends tend to be relentless and turn into F-ing Sherloch Holmes. They see my changes as a critiscism of their lifestyles and dont know what to do about it. I guess i will just keep living in half truths, sigh Thanks a ton everyone for the thoughtful responses I appreciate this community

I understand your frustration, sometimes we place too much focus and importance on one thing that will certainly make you happy if fixed. IMHO its never just the one thing that if fixed, will fix everything. And thats where the disappointment comes from. I would suggest measuring your success not only by what you lose but also by what you gain as well. And please try to remember that your lifes purpose is not losing weight. Losing weight will enhance your life and allow you to focus on other things Congrats on your progress to date!

Need some support from people who have had the sleeve
GreenTealael replied to TreeMystic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
6 months out no regrets I would suggest : A really good cleaning or organizing of your home (makes it easier for people to find things while you are resting) Meal prep at least s few freezable dishes for your family or significant other (may not want to cook right away) Only purchasing supplements from places that have hassle free returns (tolerances and tastes may change) Make friends with time (you may need to live on a schedule for a while, from eating and drinking schedules to making time for exercise and sleep) Take plenty of before and after full body selfies (body dysmorphia is real) NEVER NEVER NEVER base your progress on anyone elses journey Congrats! -
I suggest calling them to find out. I normally would think no because of HIPPA , but i learned at my last place of employment that the benefits coordinator and even the CFO can request information when calculating if there is a need to increase / decreade insurance coverage and costs. Does that make sense?

Try exeeding your water goals by an additional 24-36 oz . Sometimes the minimum of 64-80 oz just is not enough.
