Question for sleevers
GreenTealael replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went with pink, red, white beans earlier on simply because they were softer. I (my sleeve) still prefers them now. I'm 7.5 months post op I was around 250 at consultation, 238 surgery day, currently 170 Hidden sugars are everywhere so carefully read food labels (f-ing yogurt) I could only stomach the protein shakes in coffee (premier caramel) or tea (premier peaches and cream ) THE BEST HACK EVER I use myfitnesspal which accounts for all macros if you load it properly. Takes the guess work out of everything for me and I can generate a report for my NUT I'm still trying to find the ideal brand of vitamins too after I spilled an entire new jar of gummies while cleaning. I'm trying Walmart's organic vegetarian multi vitamins next. -
Friends and family problems help!

Now may be the time where you find deeper strength in yourself and independence from the negative connections. Perhaps this is who they were all along and you can just see clearer now. -

Question for sleevers
GreenTealael replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is unfortunate , sorry so many obstacles are in your path. If I was in your place I would keep it bare bones because you've got enough going on. Go right back to basics, advance slowly through the stages Minimum of 60g protein, 64 oz water, minimum of 30 minutes between eating and drinking, drinking and eating Avoid all added sugars and minimalize the consumption simple carbs (less than 50g daily) Strive to always eat proteins first then vegetables Hydration is crucial to weight loss Fiber is crucial to weight loss Vitamins are crucial to your lifestyle Track and stay accountable (pulled these tips from a handouts from support group, the topic was battling regain) Safe journey PS bug the temp NUT anyway. You are important too and the squeaky wheel gets the oil... -
I THINK IM OVEREATING.
GreenTealael replied to Synergy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to stay as close to your plan as possible for the best possible outcome. If all of these items are on plan and allowed, and you are eating the appropriate amounts at the appropriate times you should not have a problem. Remember to hydrate with low or no calories fluids and ask your NUT if you have any tough questions. Safe journey! -
Question for sleevers
GreenTealael replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Reach out to your bariatric team first for clarity, they may have ALL the answers you are looking for. The plans vary so greatly you may end up with more questions and no answers that will help YOU Currently I'm at: 60+ protein ,>80 carbs, ~45 fats I for example am very carbon sensitive so I tried to focus solely on protein earlier on but I also don't tolerate meat for long periods so I have to rotate food groups, then I said to my team I just want to be a vegetarian again and they said OK. I was expecting great resistance. My new rules are similar to old ones but I work with the NUT to make sure in not stunting my progress either. -
Am I messing up? Advice pls :)
GreenTealael replied to Pink nova's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eating out and pre packaged foods at whole foods can sabotage you when you can't track properly. You may just have to cook those separate meals or they eat what you eat. I know easier said than done, but this is the life now. Carbs are tricky, ask your NUT where they want you but high sodium will make you retain water weight. Walking is amazing and free I would wait until you get a green light for stuff like kickboxing Check in with your bariatric team for details on specifics because they will have a plan in place for you to follow for success. Safe journey! -
Interesting, thanks!

So this may be nothing but I have been entering my height as 5'3" and I now weight 170 which means in still obese but my drivers license says I'm 5'4" which means in overweight. Now im feeling lost because I don't know how tall I really am and it should not matter so much but the division is vast in my eyes. What would you do?

Soda after gastric sleeve?
GreenTealael replied to eso0402's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your bariatric team, it may not be forbidden on your plan. But if it is do try to follow their instructions. -
Biotin will not do anything for Telogen Effluvium, I have confirmed this with a dermatologist and Bariatric surgeon. It helps regrow hair but cannot prevent the shedding phase. Minoxidil will only prolong the prevention of the shedding phase but eventually you will shed once you discontinue use (so I just didn't bother, I have long term commitment issues) I searched scholarly journals and med research heavily prior to surgery because this was my one vain concern and deciding factor on which surgery I would have (I had VSG) Also RNY tends to shed more due to malabsorption and DS even more. But in the end not everyone will and genetics plays a role in that.

HELP - Grazing all day
GreenTealael replied to Orchids&Dragons's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You'd be surprised how much fluids we actually need vs what's recommended. Try working your way back up to your normal, and hot fluids tends to be more satisfying than cold IMHO -
HELP - Grazing all day
GreenTealael replied to Orchids&Dragons's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Also thirst can masquerade as hunger so i would drink more before eating more any day (apparently except when menstrual cycle is coming then I need more food and fluids) -
Google LLysine and telogen effluvium, I put this on every hair loss board I can, I think it's part of the reason my hair has not really fallen out

HELP - Grazing all day
GreenTealael replied to Orchids&Dragons's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Grazing tends to just be eating just to eat, not planned meal times (whether 3,4,6 etc) tracking meals and calories SHOULD help prevent this behavior and ultimately I feel like theoretically it should be very hard if you are hydrating all day and meals and fluids don't meet. But it's not always like it is in the books... -

GreenTealael replied to sondra2368's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Visit your bariatric team to make a plan, they may recommend additional support such as therapy or additional surgery, or it may be as simple as a stricter diet and physical therapy plan. Safe journey again! -
I say if you feel better roll with it

I'm just posting because I'm jealous of your super human recovery so far...

Focus on water and hydration, cry as much as you need to, try to get some protein in, be kind to yourself, improvements come in time
