Quotes & Inspiration
GreenTealael replied to nibble's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All time favorite -
Unfortunately it's the luck of the draw with telogen effluvium , some experience it, some do not. The rate of loss per person will vary on a number of things , general health, type of surgery, genetics, protein intake, prayer, hair type, iron levels, sci-fi preference, etc. Do your research, visit a dermatologist and do what you are comfortable doing (and spending) for a remedy. But I will suggest LLysine as something to look into...

WHO IN PUBLIC LIFE OR HOLLYWOOD DO YOU THINK WOULD BENEFIT MOST FROM BARIATRIC SURGERY?
GreenTealael replied to Frustr8's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess this was one of the reasons why it may have been in poor tastes to assume someone should could would have the surgery. I guess a better questions may have been would more public figures openly have surgery if the stigma of the "easy way out" was removed from this option? And would that then be a public health courtesy or disservice ? -
The one thing you could not live without post surgery
GreenTealael replied to Oceanlove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A belt and a decent manual espresso maker... I just realized these are my essentials 7 months post op, and writing it together makes me feel like McGuyver... -

Just got in trouble!
GreenTealael replied to sammi123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's sounds... Cruel and I'm not a PETA person or super vegan by any means. But putting it that way would make me distrust the info. Alas, trust your team but advocate for the lifestyle you ultimately want to live which should have heartless plants in there... -
?? For the Veteran Sleeevers
GreenTealael replied to GansettRam74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
*I am by no means a veteran* I can drink at my normal pre op pace and I'm 7 months post op. You can always eat whatever you want but IMHO you may not want to go back to everything and especially not immediately. Apparently there is a limited window of weightloss then either maintenance or regain can occur depending on what you do next. Establishing great balance and really good habits and control during the weightloss phase and even prior seems to be key. Take a look around at the threads about regain and they all look the same, people who didn't stick to the plan as close as they could have and life spiraled out of control now they need to start again. I'd rather just stay the course and only indulge MINIMALLY. But that's just me. -
One piece of advice for weight loss success...
GreenTealael replied to AK37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hydrate -
I was told all liquids can be grouped together but the full liquid diet is different then just liquids because it has semi solids so you observe the 30-30-30 rule with those (yogurt cream soups cream of wheat etc. Anything you can eat with a spoon ) otherwise I take no breaks between drinking things. I go from coffee to water to tea to water to tea etc.

I lose slowly and stall often, currently stalled since June 2nd but I have realized that my body does not lose in a linear pattern. It stops for a break and then starts again. Plenty of people have different patterns of weight loss some lose then gain then lose. But ultimately lose. Even if it's just a couple of oz it's a loss. But a word of caution on weighing constantly, it can sabotage you if there is not a constant downward pattern. Try focusing on other things like creating patterns of behavior for future success such as self care, meal prepping, exercise, hydrating, support groups, vitamin routine, and balancing all this with real life. Safe Journey!

Protein Powders and Appliances
GreenTealael replied to Laura7's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I still use my normal size crock pot for meal prepping for the week , you may want to wait and see what more you need along the way. But what you have seems pretty solid. -
Protein Powders and Appliances
GreenTealael replied to Laura7's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Seems like you have enough to me, the stage doesn't last terribly long so no need to buy more things you'll never use -

WLS cause a vegetarian life change?
GreenTealael replied to gully90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a vegetarian prior to WLS and became a meateterian (lol) after but currently transitioning back to plant based with the support of my team -
What is a realistic WL monthly target?
GreenTealael replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree, there's no exact way to tell how much YOU will lose BUT ultimately your success will depend on your physiology and commitment. One thing you are in total control over so go hard core with following your plan. -
Anyone else having food dreams?
GreenTealael replied to Spatulachick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Early on I did also, I believe it was the stress of being so rigid and regimented. Also the fear of mistakes and failure. No dreams in months though... -
Hey yes great question, foods that seem to slide right through your new stomach and trigger little to no restriction. For me I also it tends to be higher calorie foods, so it's dangerous to be able to eat alot because you are essentially eating around your surgery or cancelling the effects of it.

Can I have a half glass of Wine with a steak
GreenTealael replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Best to consult your team when it comes to timing of alcohol and moving forward on your plan but either way at seven weeks post op you are going to nurse the drink or meal heavily as both may be surprisingly unpredictable to tolerate now. Enjoy! -
The mileage
GreenTealael replied to Angela.fontenot50@gmail.com's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Look up Medicaid transportation in your state, they may be able to taxi you 1 855-852-3293 -
Without more info I can only guess you are eating slider foods, things that do not trigger restrictions or high refined carb and sugar foods that do not trigger satisfaction and actually make you crave more. Dense proteins tends to sit heavy with most people despite type of surgery, leafy vegetables are necessary for fiber, nutrients and bulk (full feeling if you need it) Healthy fats make you feel full for longer. Can you share your daily diet? Have you consulted your NUT or team?
