I've been to my dermatologist to discuss this extensively, I've researched it as well, the only thing I added was llysine, made sure my minerals were on point my iron ferritin stores were good, and prayer because at the end of the day genetically you get what you get. BUT... I don't wash and blow dry my hair every day, my hair stays up in a bun to prevent manipulation and the effects of gravity, I wear a silk scarf to bed and have satin pillow cases. I've made a very good effort to help telogen effluvium to move on ... VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

You can repetitively stress the follicle out to the point where hair won't grow from it any more, no matter what you do. Lots of manipulation, wear and tear, so while its in a fragile state best to protect it VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

I'm aware, I've posted rigorously about it. But those were my question in reference to rountines VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

Anyone trying Jamaican black Castor oil on their temple area for added protection of follicles , hot oil treatments, co washing only, washing and manipulating less? These are things done within the AA community to mitigate the effects of traction alopecia VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

Question about Fluid Volume
GreenTealael replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Eventually you can drink larger volumes over longer or shorter periods of time, I'm 8 months post op, I can drink 16 oz in 30 mins casually or 10 mins if I'm thirsty VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167 -
Damn i thought i replied but it never up loaded...https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/protein-for-vegans-vegetariansPea protein, hemp hearts, tofu, chia, etc. Not single source. Its going to cost you calorically but it can be done. Usually you have to plan very well and make your own foods. Example if you make falafel you can add ground hemp hearts, chia seeds, flax, pea protein, spices, etc. Stir fry mushrooms with fluffed buckwheat and quinoa. Eat with a hummus spread. You will work harder (especially if you don't like legumes) but its possible. I have come to the very real conclusion that my time with animal protein is almost over, but I'm interested in keto, I stopped by to see if I could do it for a short burst then try to vegetarian/vegan keto for a burst to break through anticipated plateaus VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

A lot of us can't rely on meat for protein either , I can easily easily easily eat my way to protein with other sources besides meat and dairy. I'm on no ones side here, I also came for info. VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

Fatty Liver
GreenTealael replied to actuallylosingit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is common, but ask if you can get a head start and start shrinking your liver ahead of time. If you follow the less rigorous preop diet (shake for meals 1&2, protein vegetables meal 3) for longer ahead of surgery, you can get a running start instead if being miserable all at once, My surgeon did not require preop diet, my liver was fine, he was comfortable either way but I put myself in one anyway. Just for like a week I think. As always consult your physician first. VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167 -
You've been doing this version of Keto since 2013? Has it helped you lose or maintain, or was it to stabilize health issues? Was it hard to maintain for years at a time? VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167

2018 Study: Difference in weight loss between laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy vs laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
GreenTealael replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Interesting article I think people forget that the sleeve is part 1 of 2 (DS - the most malabsorptive surgery possible) and the efficacy was so widespread in superobese patients part 2 was never needed. I decided to go with the sleeve because I could just convert to DS later (but I believed it should not be necessary unless GERD - but I have no history, we'll see in 5 yrs)) VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167 -
We kind of hijacked your thread. Did you receive any clarity? You will usually have to mention that you've had wls in the ER, but your PCP will already know and prescribe accordingly. Mostly non slow release until the greenlight from bariatrics. Asking your team about things often and ahead of time will help VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167
