I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat, at least you know what the causes are and how to fix them! -

Oh man my team is a little more slow/old school they let me incorporate them at 6 months post. I was good by then. Except raw purple cabbage is still a problem ... A lot of others posters added them way earlier. -
Please Help! Bypass vs. Sleeve Which one to Choose?😅
GreenTealael replied to xxtrinaxx's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was talking I terms of the three major wls offered : VSG, RNY & DS. You can "eat around" (intake a surplus of cal) all of the surgeries but only RNY & DS have malabsorption as an added layer to expedite weight loss and effectiveness. There is tons of research out there that states the further out you get the less effective the malabsorption. On the flip side VSG has become popular because the anatomical change doesn't *appear* as extreme as the others and everyone worries about malabsorption isssues long term. If the choice is yours consider: Do you have/or at risk of developing GERD? (Some get it anyway years later) Are you willing to have a revision surgery to correct it or for insufficient weight loss? (You may get different insurance, can't predict the future) Do you have additional medical/concerns ailments? How much do you have to lose? How fast? Why? Do you have eating/food issues that are not well managed/unaddressed? I personally only decided to go with VSG over RNY because I have medical issues & vitamin deficiencies that would have gotten much worse immediately with a super rapid drop , I didn't think I could physically handle it and if I ever need a revision (medical only) I will push for DS as it was the natural progression of the VSG path (originally designed as stage 1 of 2 of DS) Hope I was helpful, let me know -

Yeah i got cocky... so Smooth Move declared war on me... But I only had one cup! I guess It was really needed? Sigh... No real IF until Tuesday. Just pushing whichever liquids and binding foods I can. -
Rant away! But it may be best to have it when the nurse's aren't striking or thinking about striking. Can you imagine recovery care with fed up nurses? No thanks... Hopefully they resolve it and your surgery happens soon!

No one here can possibly gauge what surgery will be most successful for you. It will be a guess at most. People tend to go with the sleeve if that don't have GERD/reflux don't want malabsorption, don't have multiple 100s to lose. RNY for the opposite reasons, but that is just a quick rundown. There's alot more to it. A few weeks ago I even asked why people chose the least effective surgery for their situations. But further research, open-mindedness and discussions led me to realize it's not as simple as we think. Genetics, biology, illness, habits, mental health, and sometimes pure chance can play a role too. What may work on paper in perfect conditions may not always be the outcome we received. Sometimes it's far better than anticipated sometimes far more disappointing. Some people do everything right and biology works against them, some people do everything their way and have great results no matter what. I say all of this because you will get responses in a range from this spectrum and in no way will it correlate to your outcome. Do what you think will be best for you with the recommendation of your surgeon. Take that serious, He/She has directly influenced the changes of many people's weights and has data on trends based on the procedures they perform. (Goodness that was long in the tooth , sorry.) -
Hoping for a smoother recovery for you from this day forward !

A few questions + my background
GreenTealael replied to Joewy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there, I was told by my team that we will fluctuate within a range of pounds based on various things like hydration level, sodium levels, time of day, bathroom habits (or lack thereof), recently illness, medications, carb intake, etc. An overall downward trend over a period of time (instead of upward) is what you ate looking for. So if you fluctuate within say 5lbs of a weight but know your habits are on point with your plan, don't worry. Safe Journey! -

This sounds like a plateau. My longest stalls are 1 month each... Are you tracking, veering from plan, getting enough water, sleep, etc. ? -

Everyone is welcome to my table! I'm an ovo lacto pescaterian So I super flexible but I still don't eat much dairy or eggs because they don't always agree with me, not my stomach necessarily but it shows up in my skin... Being vegan is an eventuality but I want to get far enough away from goal first because carbs... Funny I usually get enough fiber in when I'm eating vegetarian but not when I eat meat meals because I don't use chia, flax, hemp, psyllium etc. I 💟 Smooth Move, but you have to set your plans for being close to the bathroom. For a while. -

Hmm, Aldi's here are jammed packed with items and people. I love how low rent they are but the products are quality... We have lots of regional stores but the one I wish would come closer to us is Wegmans... I seriously love that store it laid out right... But it's never coming to my part of NYS 😥 -

I was up late last night binge watching Altered Carbon on Netflix so I ate close to 1am, I was so caught up I forgot to eat in my window and I didn't need anymore liquids so .. flexibility I'll be fasting until super late today because of this but I plan to have salad, maybe kind mini bar, peanut butter, etc. the usual suspects I have to prep a longer stricter fast in anticipation of Tuesday night's (Yom Kippur) true fast. It will try first since surgery, but I'm so far out and hydrated AF I think it will not be an issue. Monday will be a water broth tea day no stevia, creamer, coffee or PP shake. Hardcore.
