Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
GreenTealael replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Goal range achieved. At 1yr post op appt today, my Surgical PA told me that I'm at goal, currently 156lbs BMI of 27. He said that at my current BMI range 25-27, studies show that people live longer than those below a BMI of 25. Happy to hear it because I'll likely never get that low, lol.😎 We also discussed IF and he completely agreed with it's usefulness and said when he considers ancient/Paleo/human that was probably closer to the natural pattern and no one needs to eat all day long. I agree. He warned against the extremes for our population however, so no week long water fasts... As if lol! My diet and IF regime will remain the same. I like it and I'm happy to have found something flexible and sustainable. I'm adding a photo because I'm proud, don't judge me 😂😂😂 -
Agreed. Which is why I'm done.

They usually only count your starting BMI, but double check with the team you are seeing. Ask tons of questions! Safe Journey! -

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
GreenTealael replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Went to support group and someone asked again about carbs and apparently my group wants you to get 50% of your 1000 cals from carbs but no more. Thats around 125g carbs if I remember correctly. That's a lot of carbs someone said, and the NUT said not really They are leaning towards the Mediterranean type diet and allow flexibility. I have been getting like 70g and below , sometimes a little higher with alot of beans. I still don't think bread and grains as a regular occurrence is in my future. They just don't work well for me so I am limiting giving them up , mostly. -
Sorry autocorrect is a nightmare for me lately... Roasted or toasted edamame that is prepackaged/premade. Otherwise I eat it raw in salad

Great list! I need to recommit to goal rewards... I keep losing my list 😒

Day 1 pre-op.. already sucks!

You gonna be ok? -
Best advice I can give is to use the search tool on the site and read alot of posts and threads about common questions ideas, etc. You see trends on what to buy, avoid, bring to the hospital etc. Life is different and the same. I found that people will now react differently to you depending on how they truly felt about you in the first place. However, you will ultimately most likely be the same person after surgery despite what you see in the mirror or on the scale. Safe Journey!

Having trouble reaching 800 calories on clear liquids only
GreenTealael replied to BelleOfBatonRouge's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Why do you need to be at 800 cals? Is that the goal you were told to always meet? Ask your team for advice on how to reach it, if they set it. -
Glucose Challenge Test alternative
GreenTealael replied to mmy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Tell them if you don't display any obvious signs you'll skip that testing , if there develops a risk, you'll keep them posted. Honestly, they should be looking for the alternative. That's what medical training and degrees usually indicate their ability to do... -

Current Weight Loss Challenges?
GreenTealael replied to chrys129's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, I'm going to think about it for a while and see what kind of work around can be done. I like the idea of a challenge. IDK if I have the knowledge to run one though... -

I Feel Like My Surgeon's Office Is Stringing Me Along
GreenTealael replied to Boldilocks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I used to have this health plan too as I worked for the State as well, congrats it is great. No the application to the insurance company comes at the bitter end and it's usually what we are all nervously waiting for. You go through all the other appts to gather "proof" and submit as "evidence" then they make a ruling on your "case" I would ask what that flag was all about. It could be as simple as needing to get a new card, to there being a change in policy. You'll want to know ahead of time. If you are in a rush, tell them you have a time frame you want to have to the surgery in. You may have come off as not having a pressing deadline/urgent need because of the vacation. You can also absolutely contact the insurance company itself and find out the requirements that need to be met to qualify for coverage (ask for it in writing) Safe Journey! -
The wound care aspect may be easier for this surgery than the breast reduction. It is hard but I'm sure he will be fine. He's an adult totally capable of caring for himself, or learning to... quickly Safe Journey!
