    Bad reflux after VSG

Hi, plenty of people. If you take the time to fill out your profile completely you will be able to gain access to the Veteran's forums which will have more info and people who are in the same boat. Safe Journey!
  2. Im STILL waiting... The body shape you have prior to surgery will likely be the one you have after you begin to lose weight. To my knowledge you can't target areas for loss. For that we have 🌈 plastics 🌈
  3. Following this thread! Nothing to add...
  4. I won't reach a normal BMI, or if I do it will be accidentally. But my Surgical PA is legit amazing. He said studies show that people who are in my BMI bracket statistically live longer. I'm sure he has anecdotal evidence for everyone he meets with but the fact that my team made my journey and success feel customized means the world to me.
  5. I agree. Sometimes, yes, it's hard to watch other effortlessly succeed while you struggle and fight for every lb/kg lost. This is where self-care needs to step in. Do only what helps and not what harms. But you have to know yourself enough to get that far.

Post surgery 4 months mini stalls

I would suggest upon waking, drink water immediately. Then coffee or tea, then water again. Hydrate (first thing) as much as you can. It really sets the tone for your day. Try a different creamer for coffee (sugar free, fat free international delight's or fat free half&half) or as most of the bariatric community has tried, protein shake as creamer. Game changer. I do this everyday and I don't need the extra protein but I can control the ingredients and cals from it so win/win because it tastes amazing too.
  7. Perfect! I abhor the word belated.

    Thanksgiving

I feel like there should be a challenge: If you can wrap it in turkey breast you can have it. Lol There are so many diabetic and Keto friendly recipes out there now, I think this shouldn't be a major problem if anyone really really really wants to participate. Prep and bring you own foods, mostly eat those, force people to try your recipes, taste a few regular foods. Live life.

Nooooo Tell them you are sick and ask if they can make you soup. The best butternut or pumpkin bisques ever happen around this time. You won't miss anything else!
  10. Hey love, You are both of those girls, the tracker and the slacker. Make peace with yourself. Find a balance that is sustainable, because long term success is goal. Don't want to count calories, then maybe predictable safe meals. I've had several stalls and had to hack my way to success. Still on the path, looking towards my 5, 10,15 yr plans and beyond. I indulge and gain. I regiment and lose. But I don't spiral out of control because I know what to do now. Salads are regulars for me when I have hungry days because I can eat as much as I want without caloric penalty. Advice: Set up incremental goals and sustainable methods Oh and drink lots of fluids. Some hunger is just thirst. You can totally do it! We are cheering for you. Safe Journey.
  11. Amazing! Happy anniversary to both of you and Happy Belated Birthday! Sounds like an utterly fantastic time, I bet you lost weight because stress was reduced and happiness was increased! Welcome back!

    So Dramatic...

I need it, my scars are still visible 1 yr later
  13. This may be controversial but I'm wondering if anyone is purposely forcing malabsorption / laxative effect and as a side effect making their sleeve behave like RNY? It occurred to me that from time to time I do this (to maintain bowel regularity) because dense protein stays in my body too long so I purposely use extra stevia to promote swifter bowel movements on the days I eat mostly meat. Any thoughts? Is this even a thing? Is this considered forcing malabsorption or just creating a laxative effect? Sent from my Coolpad 3622A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Forced malabsorption

I wish coffee had ANY effect on me, besides warming agent, sigh. I've noticed that I'm taking a lot longer to recover from any illness post surgery. A few others have noted the same.

How long does hair loss last

I did a ton of research on Telogen Effluvium and LLysine came up as a treatment options in a study conducted a while back. I took the recommended dosage 1000mg per day. Some days only 500mg (big pills/ must take on empty stomach) Genetics and underlining issues will affect hairloss also, but I think this really made the difference for me (and prayer) As vain as it sounds, the only thing I worried about consistently pre and post op was my hair. I was dead set on not losing it. Google it and see if it makes sense to you to add into your vitamin routine.

  24. Tea stabilizes hunger better for me than coffee so maybe a different liquid will help!
