Double check with your team but I remember being told that every liquid you consume (without caffeine) can be counted towards your hydration goals. Good luck on the food stage progression! -
Food Before and After Photos
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Same!!! My BF used to ask why can’t I just finish the two bites I’d leave?Because I did want to, I had enough! Then it became I should order less (I only order apps and small plates). He really tried to manage my food portions until I chewed him out. Sir, why are you so obsessed with me 😂 JK I realized I didn’t grow up in the finish everything on you plate type of home (and truth be told I’m now realizing I have been a picky eater my entire life so it wouldn’t have worked well on me). But he absolutely was forced or shamed into a clean plate. It’s really damaging long term especially if your parents don’t prepare healthy choices (or just don’t cook well 🤣) I glad you got to break free of the cycle ❤️ -

This is the absolute best written account of medical tourism for plastics I have seen. Thank you for the thorough description. Also congratulations and speedy recovery ❤️🩹 -
New bf - to share or not about past WLS
GreenTealael replied to It’sMe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Does he need to know? 2 years in is a little late but I completely understand not wanting to give out medical info unless absolutely necessary. IMHO it has to happen naturally now ( he asks directly or a situation where he needs to know) And even then you may have to downplay it’s importance. When I was newly dating after WLS, I told 2 out of 3 people I went on dates with (one just never progressed to the point where it came up) but I chose to tell them so they could understand why I either didn’t want food based dates or why I only ordered an appetizer vs entrée. Good luck! -
Will I plateau right after surgery?
GreenTealael replied to lscott0594's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think everyone gets anxious near their surgery date so you’re in good company. WLS was the only think I could think about for a few weeks leading up to it. I was so nervous the night before, I stayed up the entire night cleaning, listening to music and watch movies. I went straight into surgery in the next morning. You will continue to lose and quite possibly stall a few times too. You may also come out of surgery initially up a little in weight and that is because of the surgery itself. But you will continue to lose weight in the months to come. If you ever find yourself in a stall, wait it out and don’t change anything. You’ll want the proof that it wasn’t your fault for having one or jumpstarting the loss again. If you can get a tailor’s tape measure, take your measurements along the way. You can see huge changes in body re composition even if the weight on the scale doesn’t reflect your efforts. Good and Congratulations in advance ❤️ -

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

The last two times I wore all white: around 2-3 months pre op and 6+ yrs post op. I can’t really remember being the other version of myself anymore as there have been several layers of transformation beside weight loss including new relationships, locations, body modifications, etc. -
went out to dinner with a friend. Long tweed coat, turtleneck and denim cargo mini skirt. I’ve been staying away from mini skirts in favor of midi length but surprisingly I like them again.

If I remember correctly (it was 2017) the clinician told me immediately he would approve me and the official results were in my file within a week (this was before the hospital system I used implemented MyChart)

VSG to RNY - will I be just trading one set of problems for another?
GreenTealael replied to lauraellen80's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I initially had VSG in 2017 and was revised to RNY in 2019. I have no horror stories. Some mild but utterly manageable complications early on but nothing that has made me regret life post RNY compared to VSG. Honestly to me it feels exactly the same and I have lived with the change long enough to make the comparison. In the early stages post revision, I needed to relearn and change some things but after that it’s been smooth. I deal with dumping syndrome (but I did with VSG also) so I know what to stay away from and it has eliminated 95% of the possibility of it happening. As always, your experience may differ in any number of ways but IMHO the people who struggle the most with revisions are the ones who either have very serious physical complications or those who didn’t want to be revised at all (this is more mental than physical). I hope you choose the best path forward that you are comfortable with. Keep us updated ❤️
