One week post op gastric sleeve
MassMel replied to sylvia2017's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have definitely been trying to embrace my new diet! Who cares if you are drinking a protein shake or water while others are eating? This is your food, your diet. I suppose it depends if you have told others. I personally have told my family, friends and coworkers so they can understand why I am doing the things I am or if I have a problem. It's made the journey easier for me. I'm only a week ahead of you at this point! Best of luck! -
5 days out, not feeling great at the moment

It's so great to hear others with the same experiences! SD- 6/19/17 and I go for staple removal today and should be cleared for puréed foods as long as they are okay with only 60 grams of protein (goal is 87-93; woof). I try to go for walks when the hunger pains start - sometimes I can't tell if it's hunger or gas pains honestly! I am definitely bored withthe liquid/protein diet but just remember - food is coming and you will begin to attempt it soon! Another 2 weeks in the grand scheme of things, is such a small time frame. Also, we all need to remember that food is a larger part of our culture - there is no escaping it, just learning to rise above our urges! -

You are an inspiration! I am only I week post-op and there has been buyers remorse and tears at points! You are beautiful and one big thing I notice is that your thighs don't TOUCH!!! I can't wait for the day! Im so happy to hear how proud you are and prideful of your journey! I can't wait to be there as well! Looks like it's time to buy smaller underwear! 😉 Congratulations!! -
My husband has no weight issues, but I have been heavy for all of my teen and adult life. My husband is supportive, but he eats anything he wants. I am only 1 week post-op and go in today to have my staples removed. My husband has had sandwiches, pizza, cheeseburgers in front of my since the surgery. I don't have the same appetite as I did before (and I was a bottomless pit), so it doesn't bother me much. The smell of food is fantastic, but that doesn't mean I want to eat it all. I have decided that although my husband supports me; I need to support me! This is my journey and it is up to me to be successful! The 'bad' food isn't going away - we have to learn to make smarter choices!! The pre-op diet was the hardest because I still had to ability to eat whatever I wanted but was told not to! I've tried not to limit my husband when he doesn't have the need to be on a diet. I lost 12 lbs on my pre-op diet and it really does help the healing afterwards! Best of luck!! Im so happy to have others to share with in these forums! 😊
