    Near death experience

I had my sleeve in July 2017 and nearly died from Embolism Of The Lungs few days later. I was hospitalized for 18 days. Scariest moment of my life!

    Multivitamins

Taking your vitamins is not optional. You might feel fine now but you are only setting yourself up for bigger issues down the line. I know a lady who lost half of her teeth from lack of vitamins after a weightloss surgery...and she was only 32 at that point. Not taking your vitamins would lead to a truckload of dental issues down the line including other health issues like osteoporosis and so on...just wanna put it out there. Chewable vitamins make me severely nauseous too but then I discovered CELEBRATE ESSENTIAL MULTI 2 IN 1, Orange-Pineapple Flavor. Basically calcium and multivitamin in one pill. I take them 4 times per day. They have other flavors but I can only vouch for this particular flavor. Btw, I noticed I do get slightly nauseous when I take them on empty stomach so I make sure to take them after a meal and I'm good.
  3. Glad you know you made a mistake and hopefully you are able to push forward without beating yourself up too much. I would advise you to stay away completely from ice cream for now...doesn't matter how low in calories or sugar they are. You are only 2 weeks post op and it is just too early for stuff like that. Buy a low calorie sugar-free popsicles instead. Sugar-free jello is a good snack option as well. In order to be successful in this journey, one gotta be super disciplined and exercise self control at all times because it is very easy to slide back to old habits.

Do any of you have hair loss?

I experienced severe hair loss at the start of 6 months post op regardless of taking all my vitamins and supplements. My biotin was increased from 5000mcg to 15000mcg per surgeon's order and I started using biotin & collagen oil on my hair especially in the bald spots. I'm 8 months post op now and my hair are growing back gradually. As long as you take all your daily vitamins and supplements hair loss during post op will be temporary instead of permanent.

    Secret sleevers?!

I'm a very private person so when I had the surgery few months ago I told only my younger sister out of 5 siblings. Last time I checked I don't see anyone with plastic surgeries (implants, nose job, Lipo, etc) announcing it to the world so why should I announce mine? It's nobody's business and I keep it that way.
  6. What's your daily food & drink menu like? How many days (including minutes) do you exercise per week?
  7. They gave me some shots before and after the surgery to prevent clots but I guess my multiple surgeries including a recent abdominal Myomectomy, blood transfusion and hormonal pills were at odds with me this time. I'm glad your doctor preordered some shots for you. Don't worry you will be fine. Good luck on your surgery...will be praying for you!
  8. Thank you all, I'm happy and thankful to be alive.
  9. Writing this from my hospital bed. I was sleeved on July 6th and got discharged on July 7th with no issues except for feeling very weak. By the 9th I was feeling deathly weak with sore legs and achy upper body and coughing out mucous every now and then. I assumed I was dehydrated and coming down with a cold or something, so was trying my hardest to stay hydrated by drinking Powerade zero...waste of time. On the morning of the 11th, I woke up feeling beyond faint and noticed something funny with my breathing. At that point I decided I was gonna go to ER but first I called my surgeon on the phone and he suggested I head to ER right away. When I got to the ER I could barely walk so I was assisted with a wheelchair. Lots of tests were carried out right away and it was determined I had pulmonary embolism of the lungs. Evidently a small clot formed in the lower part of my right leg and dislodged and went to my lungs...all in the span of 4 days. I was very very very lucky. It's gonna be a long road to recovery but I'm thankful I saved own life by going to ER when I did. Please note I did NOT have the textbook symptoms of pulmonary embolism. My biggest symptom was extreme fatigue followed by sore legs which I thought have to do with dehydration. Hopefully this helps someone out there.
