Drinking before surgery?

2-4 weeks. If youre really big by bariatric patient standards, id probably aim for 4-5 weeks since youre gonna have a large liver to begin with. -
Really wasn't too bad. Ate about 1/3rd of a scrambled egg in about 22 minutes after giving up. Definitely could have eaten more comfortably but had no idea what to expect. Only thing is I think I put a little too much pepper (like salt and pepper) which was a TINYYYY bit irritating to my throat but other than that all seems well. If I get through the next half hour unscathed I think it'll be safe to say it's a success

HIDA Scan/Possible Gallbladder Issue

HIDA scans are a very common diagnostic tool for gallbladder issues and i believe its much more in depth than an ultrasound which is kind of basic. Hopefully itll get you some answers. -
So what's the process or recommendations for actually trying real foods for the first time? ( not food selection, but what actually will happen when I sit down and eat) I know small bites and wait a few minutes between bites. But how will I know if something disagrees or is an issue ? And what to expect/do if something happens? Dry heaving? Pain? I've read lay down or something? Will I need to take tums or Tylenol or anything? I know I'm over thinking it and being overly cautious, but it's the first time in over 4 weeks I'll have eaten something more substantive than pudding so I just wanna make sure it's successful. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat with the fatigue but I think the exercise will help with that. My cardiovascular endurance dropped drastically in the roughly 3 weeks since my surgery. I get winded after 5-10 minutes (when I was capable of jogging for 1-2 hours literally 4 weeks ago) At the very least it'll help you get your heart back to optimal health, and it will help maintain lean body mass during the drastic caloric deficit. Even if it doesn't help much with the weight loss, it will contribute to minimizing body fat (which really is everybodys goal)

Just my experience. I didn't walk enough post op and got some really bad muscle tightness in my legs, which ended up putting pressure on my sciatic nerve and ultimately was far far more painful than anything from the surgery. And of course the treatment is muscle relaxers and nsaids neither of which you can have immediately post op. If I could do it again, I'd walk at least an hour a day. Honestly I doubt there's much a difference between many or a few walks as long as they're reasonably spread out.

Add miralax to something other than water than. Powerade zero, crystal light, Gatorade g2, broth etc etc

How many meals are you eating a day? And are they are comparable size/calorie wise to what you had for dinner -
The OP was eating like 60% fat at their meals (especially breakfast) and was still hungry. That's why I suggested reducing fat and increasing protein. Swapping out full fat mozzarella for fat free cheese and going from 2 eggs to one egg plus beaters would be roughly the same amount of calories but with increased protein, satiety, and food volume. Yes fat will keep you full longer than carbohydrates. But protein will keep you full much much longer per calorie than fat.

I'm beginning to research and plan my transition to (somewhat) regular foods in the upcoming weeks. Where would you categorize stuff like almond and coconut flour? I mean they're literally ground almond/coconut respectively. Do I treat coconut as a fruit and almond meal as a nut? I know you're allowed stuff like pb2 way before real peanut butter so it's confusing. I would love to use this stuff in simple recipes especially with chicken and fish, but I'm not sure how long to wait (I'm almost 4 weeks postoperative). Coconut flour I'm very weary of because it's extremely high in fiber so that could be a problem for gas and bloating among other things. But what about almond flour? I know you're supposed to wait several weeks before introducing nuts, but if it's ground to a flour and combined with chicken I don't know if that's the same thing. Is there anything anybody could recommend more bariatric friendly than these two that would suit the same purpose ? (no parmesian, as I can't do dairy) Obviously I'm going to ask my nutritionist at my next appointment in a few weeks, but considering I'm bored out of my mind still home from work figuring out what the hell I'm going to eat soon is the most productive use of my time. -

I mean almond flour is literally ground almonds, and nothing else. By all measures almonds are relatively nutritious no? -
Er no idea about the white/yellow stuff as I experienced none or that. But a quick Google search pops up "Yellow or clear mucus is present in such little amounts that the naked eye would not notice it. When stool has visible mucus, it can be a sign of bacterial infections, anal fissures, a bowel obstruction, or Crohn's disease." Which probably warrants a call to the doctors office in the morning especially depending on how significant. As for constipation a stool softener would help tremendously with the hard pebbles (and in general). As for what my doctor recommended for me and i have been doing. Take a stool softener twice a day, take benefiber twice a day, take miralax when needed (but try not to take it everyday). I'm assuming you're post op sleeve right? Just because your icon thingy says preop

Oh and I should add that I am NOT talking about for baking as I have absolutely zero interest in that anytime in the near future. Mostly to go with meats sauces air fryer recipes etc -
I was severely lactose intolerant preoperatively, it's likely gotten worse since surgery I'm just hoping I can tolerate eggs, as that was one of my goto foods before surgery

I don't think fats bad at all, I think fat is good healthy and delicious for you. What I don't think is that 60% of your calories should be coming from fat. Fat is the most calorically dense macro nutrient, and EXCESSIVE fat leads to excessive calories. I'm being extremely presumptuous, but I imagine every bariatric nutrition program has a rule along the line of protein first. If 60% of your calories are coming from fat, then protein isn't first

Does anyone have any advice for the first time you eat real food after surgery (even if it's soft) I was planning on trying scrambled eggs/beaters next Thursday and it'll be the first time I've had anything more than liquids/protein/pudding/jello etc... I'll be approximately 4 weeks postoperative. And wasn't interested in eating like pureed cat food or any of that **** so I've basically been in an extended stage 2 diet for the most part.

Sleeve to RNY is very common. Sleeve to Nissen to RNY, doesn't make any sense. As far as I'm aware you can't do a Nissen after a Sleeve. The risks from a sleeve to bypass are minimal. But I doubt anybody knows exactly what this second surgery consisted of -

Eggbeaters or eggwhites are gold and low fat/fat free cheese is an improvement. Add in some lean meat if you got more room Im not ready for eggs yet but my dream breakfast is 1 egg 1 eggbeater and some lean ground beef mixed in there maybe 2 eggs and 2 beaters when i get to maintence But iI imagine itll be about 6-12 weeks till i can eat that much

Well you gotta look at the macros too i mean your breakfast is like 65% fat or something ? That cant be optimal Eggs are fine mozzarella is fine, But 2 eggs and moza is just a fat overload

I mean youre 350 pounds i imagine itll take more to fill you up than say a 190 pound female. How hungry are you after these meals ? I mean it makes sense that the bigger someone is the more calories theyll need, and its not like youre eating huge meals. Judging by those meals youre on pace for what 900 calories a day ? And ill add i LOVEEE eggs but they have a fair amount of fat. If you ate say 1 egg and 2 egg beaters (maybe even 3) you could get the exact same amount of calories with more food volume and protein. Personally i think the Mozzarella is a waste of calories when paired up with eggs (if youre left hungry) its just dense calories. Both eggs and Mozarella are over 50% fat calories making them less filling. Maybe fat free american and some eggbeaters plus a real egg and youre in business

Call the office if you think its that bad, and discuss Miralax Just know its normal to not go for a week or two Urinating on the other hand would be an emergency
