Phentermine after VSG your thoughts
Mhy12784 replied to Sleeveforme2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
But you know (or have a good idea) the macros for those foods and understand them. I'm not saying you need to weigh your food (I sure don't, my approach is actually extremely similar to yours). But I have a rough idea of how many carbs protein and fat are in the foods I eat, and a rough amount of how many I'm getting in a day. Like if you're dieting you should have an idea of what you're consuming. It sounds to me like you're going with an estimate or crude guess, which is perfectly fine. But without knowing or understanding macros at all you could be consuming way more calories or carbs or less protein than you ideally want. -
It's about your diet and nutrition. If you're eating the same as you did with the lap band, hair loss shouldn't be any different

Gained back weight before nutritionist follow up

Prilosec should not make you constipated Best advice I can give anybody who is getting a sleeve (and presumably applicable for bypass patients as well) Get in the habit of taking Metamucil. Stuff will be a lifesaver post op, at least early on And if you're extremely constipated already (preop) then I'd say you need it more than most -
It's not about fat it's about calories. And a gram of fat is more than double the calories of carbs or protein. I'm certainly not advocating be afraid of fat, but from a dieting standpoint protein is always king. I would even say for most people most of the time it should be protein >fat>carbs. Having over 50% of calories coming from fat certainly seems excessive in my opinion. And makes me wonder if you're getting enough protein
-
But a calorie is a calorie, and full fat foods are much MUCH higher in calories, it's also the most calorically dense macro nutrient, more calories than the other 2 combined. I know this threads from several months ago, but I've found a great deal of success and enjoyment in going as lean as I can. Lean meat is definitely harder to cook, but if you cook it right it's so much healthier while being tasty

Wouldn't work. You can use likely use almond milk or any low carb milk substitute though

I've only frozen it a few times, but not since I vastly improved the recipe (was a lot of experimenting with the early batches). You can certainly freeze it but I think it's much better fresh. The texture becomes somewhere between icy and freezer burnish. It's not bad, but fresh it's absolutely delicious, and legit taste like a real dessert (when I made it adding pb2 I thought wow this is totally something I'd order in a restaurant) Of course I haven't messed around with freezing it in a long time so I'm sure it could be improved, and I never used something to properly store it in a freezer either (ie Tupperware) so that could've helped That said tossing it in the freezer for a short while is perfectly fine and just chills it while making the texture more solid. It's been a staple in my diet the last few 6 weeks or so. Completely takes care of any sweettooth desires (not that I actually get many) while filling the hell up out of me. The most impressive part is how filling it is though and the volume.

NASH and Thrombocytopenia-(low platelets)
Mhy12784 replied to coachy71's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a heads up neither of these things are big deals. The overwhelming majority of obese people have fatty livers. WLS fixes or improves it in most. The thrombocytopenia thing doesn't mean much either. As far as having a fantastic medical problem goes, that's not a serious one (unless it's severe in which case you would have figured it out a very long time ago) People get bariatric surgery with thrombocytopenia all the time, they just give you platelets the same day (this isn't even always necessary). None of this would disqualify you from having surgery (or honestly impact you, though anemia could be a concern if you were having a bypass) , they would probably just postpone it to confirm this new onset diagnosis. I know it sounds and feels stressful, but I can assure you this is no big deal and will have little to no impact on your life. -
Note it takes like 10-15 minutes of beating total You can add a little more milk/beat longer if you want a fluffier texture Can also put in freezer for up to 10 minutes after to chill if you want it colder

Protein Pudding or Shake mix
Mhy12784 replied to williamsk39's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Sugar free jello pudding mix + skim milk + protein powder will taste better and be cheaper than any of the crap you buy online -
Any chance its lactose intolerance ? Yogurt, pudding, protein powder/shakes all lactose intolerance nightmares And the bloating/cramping are telltale symptoms Not to mention lactose intolerance is common after WLS

Havent had any issues with meat here except early on. Fish is definitely the easiest though. And ground beef was a little rough until around week 8, since then I eat it ALL the time (like everyday or close to it). Some suggestions to make it easier. For meats that can safely be cooked on the rarer side, that seems to make it easier. For tough meats like chicken I strongly strongly encourage you to brine them as this makes them moist and juicy. Which will both make them taste much better, as well as be easier to eat . This has worked for me with chicken and very lean pork chops. Havent tried steak yet, but ive never been much of a steak guy.

Phentermine after VSG your thoughts
Mhy12784 replied to Sleeveforme2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I dont understand how you stay under 50 carbs a day but dont track macros. Protein x4 + Carbohydrates x4 + Fat x9 = total calories Im not saying become a nutrition freak by any means, but learning about macros is basically nutrition 101, and imo is more important than everything else in nutrition combined (although having a balanced diet and micro nutrients are important too, I think the macros is far more important) -

Mhy12784 replied to Sleeveforme2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
More importantly what are your stats, exercise routine, macros, and how are you measuring tracking your macros? These are all the first things you should be looking at (except stats which just gives the rest of us perspective) -

I used weight loss drugs in the past, and theyre incredibly effective. The problem is the rebound hunger afterwards. My biggest concern with using weight loss drugs after WLS is if the rebound hunger comes back with a vengeance and screws up a good thing you got going. Whether its by stretching things out or resulting in you developing bad eating habits. I would be extremely cautious. -
Any chance youve become lactose intolerant ? Heavy gas from the protein shake + the smaller stomach and it makes a lot of sense why youd be so uncomfortable. Beer would cause the same issues from carbonation I would think its something simple like this as theyre often the most likely And it would be pretty easy to tell if youre lactose intolerant...

Recommendations for treating an upset stomach?
Mhy12784 replied to abefroman329's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are we not able to take the traditional treatments for upset stomachs ? Tums, Pepto Bismal, Immodium. I definitely dont recall them mentioning anything like this when I had surgery. And it doesnt involve eating any of the garbage people typically have when theyre sick (crackers, bread, gingerale) On the flip side any chance that it could be a lactose intolerance issue from protein shakes or anything else you recently started eating ? -
At around 4 weeks I was fine with fresh fish. But struggled with red meat at 5 weeks. Around 7 weeks I was eating red meat fine, and by 9 weeks I can eat absolutely everything and have never had a problem with anything since struggling around 5 weeks. I dont take small bites (I mean small compared to how I was preop, but im eating basically a teaspoon sized bite at a time) with only 30 seconds between bites or so. I would strongly recommend brining any lean meats (ie chicken) If you arent familiar with brining, its worth reading up on google. Basically adds moisture to lean meat making it taste better (and easier to chew/swallow)

Kind of worried - daily calorie intake
Mhy12784 replied to Brittanyblue's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Eating 1,000- 1,200 calories at 3 weeks is craziness. Im roughly 8 weeks and im JUST starting to hit around 1000 calories a day. I think being 500-800 calories a day is perfectly normal for several weeks. Just make sure to get your protein and listen to your doc of course -
Unless you need something on the go, doesn't make a lot of sense to me. They seem relatively expensive with just OK macros. You'd be better off making some homemade protein concoction. Mugcake protein fluff etc

On-q pain pump almost empty
Mhy12784 replied to niceross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah its likely exparel (liposomal bupivicaine) is but that only lasts 48-72 hours tops, and it very rarely makes it to 72. Pain wise it's very similar to an on q pump, except you don't need the giant bulb hanging out of you -
On-q pain pump almost empty
Mhy12784 replied to niceross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
An on q isn't filled with narcotics or opioids. They typically use a long acting local anesthetic like ropiviciane (also known as Naropin) this is very similar to the stuff they give you at the dentist just with a different duration and a slightly different drug. As a matter of fact it's beneficial because it theoretically means the patient will need less narcotics opioid start walking sooner etc -
On-q pain pump almost empty
Mhy12784 replied to niceross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital stopped doing on Q pumps around a year ago. There's nothing special about them and it absolutely should not be necessary at 6 days. Most people get just regular local anesthesia that wears off in 2-3 days or less. When I had my sleeve I didn't have an on q nor did I felt I needed one or it would've helped me feel better -
