    Preperation

Give up soda, sugar, and minimize carbs. Lose as much weight as possible before surgery. Hardest part is getting past head hunger and developing new habits. Stick to the 2 week liver shrinking diet to make the surgery as easy on the doctor as possible. Do not give in to the "Just one more time" voice cause there will never be the last time. Having second thoughts

Having surgery myself tomorrow and since January have gone from 420 to 313.8 as of this morning. I'm still going through with the surgery because I've been obese since the 3rd grade and I know better than to think I can change permanently on my own. I need a forced change. Uh Oh!

This is just a meniscus repair. Had one done on my left knee 2 years ago and recovery was a breeze. However I couldn't kneel down on it for 1 year. Sent from my LGLS992 using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. My VSG is scheduled for Sept 7th and I just found out I have 2 tears in my meniscus in my right knee. Has anyone else had to schedule a knee surgery before or after VSG? And if so, how long do I need to wait for surgery after VSG or can they do them at the same time? Sent from my LGLS992 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Just Starting This Journey

Most insurance require a BMI of 40 or more unless you have a co-morbidity like sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc..... Then it lowers to 35. Sent from my LGLS992 using BariatricPal mobile app

  12. You don't actually meet with a surgeon until after classes are completed. Its all RN's until then. Sent from my LGLS992 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. Not sure what the options program is. I have the Kaiser Medicade program and at my very first visit they did weigh me in just as at any doctor apointment. They discussed the 2 kinds of surgery and gave an explanation of requirements to be met for Medicaide(nothing about losing 10%). They will also ask you if you want to take Phentermine(which I did and went from 420 to 335). I had to do a sleep study also and was found to have sleep apnea. Once I made it through Psychological Eval and 4 months of dietician visits I moved into class. They weigh you on the first and last day of class and all they want to see is no weight gain and somewhere around 5lbs or more lost from the first day of class to the sixth day of class. After the fourth day of class I had to do a second psychological eval to get cleared for surgery. Right now I'm in the waiting game until I get sleeved on Sept 7th. Its not bad to switch. My wife switched about 4 months into a program with Dr. Metz and Kaiser gave her credit for everything she had already accomplished up to that point. Sent from my LGLS992 using BariatricPal mobile app
