On 06/24/17, my life changed forever

The nest 5 days we the most rough for me. I broke down and just cried. I'm saying that, because If you get through the first week with no tears, you now know some poor sap who you are tougher than. And I'd you do break down and cry this week, then you know you're not alone.

    What is Keto

If you want to do something similar without having to buy a book to follow all the stupid rules, you could do what my partner is doing. I had the surgery, but we've committed to the weight loss together. So he limits himself to 2000 calories and 100 carbs per day (he deducts dietary fiber, though). As long as he stays within those boundaries, he does fine.

    Am I doing something wrong?

It seems to me that the only thing you're doing wrong is stressing!!! Lol!!! ( And 5 kids on top of all this? Are you for real!?!? If you are sticking to the plan, the weight will sort itself out. There is a post from the mail menu of the forum, a FAQ. It explains the stalls in a way that I think would make you chill out. Also, track your loss in more than just lbs. track it in inches. In my 14 Days of Torture...aka "Pre-op diet", in 2 weeks I lost 9 lbs. for as much effort as I was putting into the fight, that seemed stupid! So, I came up with a better idea. I measured inches lost. I took those measurements 3 weeks before I started prepo. Well, I may have only lost 9 lbs...but those pounds were equal to a net 6.8" gone! That totally worked for me!!! side though, cause I ramble, do you have a WLSJ?

    5 days post-op

Knox Gelatine - I add a packet of plain to every cup of broth, 8 more protein and no taste. Try consume, it's a clarified, high protein broth. Some ladies in the support group I found said they use Genepro. They add it to everything they drink, dissolves in hot or cold. Also, add 2 pits of Knox to the jello - gives extra protein and tones down the sweet. And like everyone else says, hang in there! Day 5 I hit my breaking point. Today I'm 9 days out and in a much better head space!

    Why is this so hard?!?

YIKES! Note to self, make sure I start with light and thin puréed foods? Did the doc say why it made you so sick?

    Why is this so hard?!?

I am waaaay less dramatic today! (Day 9) I bought Ovaltine...the jury is still out on whether or not I like it. I'll let you know when deliberations conclude. I think I felt "best" on day 5 when I decided to take a bit more control over what was happening to me, if that makes any sense? I just made some decisions about when and how I would transition out of clear liquids...I honestly think 12 days is just too long. So, I made a compromise that I could live with and just listened to what my body was telling me...turns out a thin tomato soup was ok on day 7.

OMG! I will never complain again. Okay, that's not true. But, holy crap! So glad you're doing better!!!

    Why is this so hard?!?

You are totally right! I think the psychological shock was just as "traumatic" as the physical trauma of the surgery!!!

    Why is this so hard?!?

I'm totally jealous! I'm on clear liquids for the first 12 days, 14 days of full liquids, then 14 days puréed foods! Though, for better or for worse, at the 7 day mark I decided to start adding full liquids to my diet. The materials from the program say 7 days clear liquids, But my surgery couldn't do my follow up until day 12...so, there you have it. I decided to add a "runny" tomato soup and such to my diet for the extra 5 days. When I see my surgeon, I'll start adding Greek yogurts and such. As far as protein shakes...I honestly don't know what I hate more right now, chicken broth or protein shakes. I finally broke down and bought Isopure Zero Carb RTD (ready-to-drink). I'm not a fan of sweets, but if have found these to be pretty good. I pour about 4 oz at a time and I have it on ice...which I had to wait until the spasms stopped before I did ice, btw. It takes me all day, but I get 40g of protein that way. For my other 20...I add a packet of Knox Gelatine (8g/pkt) to every cup of soup, and I drink a small glass of milk (I don't like milk either, but it's better than a protein shake!) Tripe soup sounds divine!!!!! Looking forward to having more variety!

What do you use for chocolate powder? Just curious. i can't have anything but clear liquids until the 27th! It's feels like an eternity! Lol Im looking forward to the puréed stage. Basically, at that point, I can satisfy my flavor palette with anything I want to eat...it will just look like the stuff they serve in the nursing home. Thanks for responding! We should keep in touch!

    Why is this so hard?!?

Yes - my partner is a chef, so we've made several broths from my favorite soups, which has helped some. I just feel underprepared for this portion of the journey. Thanks for responding! This helped!

    Help

Would you share what you ate during your first three weeks post op? I'm struggling with this! I can't seem to get it together and I'm worried I'm over eating!
  14. I'm really....I don't know...lost? I'm 4 days out and all I want to do is eat! I thought this surgery would help with that. I don't understand what the heck I'm supposed to be doing, other than clear liquids. I can't tell the difference between "I'm full", "I'm bloated with gas", "I'm having a spasm in my stomach", and "I'm hungry". It all feels the same! Presurgery, I would know how hungry I truely was by the intensity of my food craving. Post-surgery, the cravings are intense all day every day. There is no satiation. I'm so frustrated! Is it because I'm sick to death of the stupid clear liquid diet? I mean, I've been on this stupid diet for 19 days now! And I hate sweets! I'd give just about anything for chef salad, or a nibble of cheese...or just anything that isn't sweet. And I'm over the broth already. God, I feel like a toddler in a toy isle who has just figured out the toy I bought is a gift for someone else and I don't get to play with it. I need some direction or guidance, or a regimented daily food schedule for the rest of my liquid diet(s) phase (3 weeks!) Help!?!
