Tomorrow for me!!!

2/6! My Insurance was a pain in the neck. But they came through in a few days and lots of phone calls. I’m actually very excited. I’m blocking out all the negative thoughts LOL

Whew! The struggle is real. I’m finally scheduled for sleeve surg on Feb 6! Anything I can’t do without when I get home? I have broth, protein water, shakes, vitamins. Any suggestions!

Just a tip. Not sure when you can eat Chia seeds but they are a miracle. They work like MiraLAX because they draw water into them and turn into a gel. I add them to protein shakes, as they constipate me.

Omg. I might have to do this process AGAIN
Yettid posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my first appt in August for wls. Did all the visits with dietician, psych, doctors and final the surgeon. Got a surgery date of Feb 2!! Then the surgery request went to my ins co. This is a new provider since Jan 1. (Knowing my ins co was changing, I checked with my new insurance co. Bariatric surg is covered and my doc was in network!) Well turn out my new insurance, CareFirst BCBS, requires 6 months, or two 3 months consecutively, of a diet plan before they’ll approve me. Are they really going to hold me to that since I started this process 6 months ago!? Omg. I’m so upset !! -

I am. I’m expecting my surg date soon. I should be sleeved in a week or 2! MGH Dr. Miereles -
There is no judgement here. I realize the process is much more complex than CICO. However, for the majority, if you burn more than you take in you will lose. I, of all people, know it won’t necessarily stay off. Or it may take a while if you don’t take in enough cals and your body goes into starvation mode. But typically, you will lose.

No date yet. MGH in Mass. seeing weight med doc then surgeon! -
With all due respect, I don’t understand how “it didn’t work”. I am pre op but I do understand calories in vs calories out. If your only ingesting ie 800 calories a day, how can you not lose weight? I can’t keep weight off but when I cut calories I will lose. How can this be that it didn’t work?

I've been using either 2 protein shakes a day or a shake and a bar (about 30 grams each of whey). I also usually eat a Greek yogurt and a balanced meal. But I'm up 3+ times a night to pee. My water intake isn't excessive. I've read whey or protein can be a diuretic. I don't notice the excessive peeing during the day so much but I need sleep! Help me;)

Coping methods for female hair loss
Yettid replied to Clementine Sky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Romaine (minoxidil) is the only proven method to regrow hair:) -
This is going to sound crazy, but I believe bc pills can be absorbed vaginally. Ask your doc.

I've met with the psych and nut. As I expected, I need to work on my binge eating. The nut gave me a diet plan and told me to track every bite. What are they looking for? Weight loss? Compliance? If I "cheat" and track it does that mean I'm not ready for wls? Tia

I think you look healthy and fantastic! Sometimes people get used to seeing us a certain way. Even if it's an overweight and unhealthy way, that's is how they're used to seeing us. Just like our brains have to catch up to our eyes, theirs do too. And sadly, our faces lose more fat than we'd like . There are always dermal fillers if you felt that way!

I keep hearing about depression post surgery. Are we talking clinical depression or the blues for a couple weeks? I have chronic fatigue/anxiety but don't typically suffer from depression. I'm on an ssri . I'm very concerned about this. It's going to be hard on my family without depression. I'm scared to get depressed.

Still struggle with binging mindset
Yettid replied to Monasmle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Your post gives me positive affirmation that wls will help with my binge ing. Awesome work having a plan in place because as we know, wls doesn't change our heads! Go girl! -
I'm leaning toward the sleeve because it's less invasive and less vitamin deficiency. But I'm terrified to lose so slowly. I'd be pissed if I only lost 5-10 lbs Month!! I know all loss is good but I'm afraid I'd be discouraged if I didn't see results faster. Thoughts? Cw 220 Gw 145

Good to know. I'm very ready for wls, and want to realistic about expectations. Good to know 10+lbs a month isn't realistic .

Who are you calling short !? Lol[emoji8]

Thanks for your replies. Obviously, I can't keep any weight off long term without surgery. I can lose about 5lbs a month on my own, but can't maintain. I am going to choose the wls option that is safest for me. But, given the option, I think we all would take the option that loses fastest. I do have Gerd, but in the past, it goes away when I lose weight. I want success no matter which surgery I get. And I want to gather as much info as possible to avoid surprises:)

I'm considering WLS and doing my research. One of my concerns is addiction transfer. I do know a few wls that have moved their compulsive eating to other addictions. i.e. Gambling, shopping, sex, bulimia, etc. I do have OCD behaviors and am afraid to transfer compulsions. I'm lucky alcohol and drugs don't appeal (or agree) with me. I haven't had a cigarette in 7 years. But looking back, when I've lost a lot of weight in the past, I do see some compulsive patterns. Any experiences or insight ?
