    Food Dreams?

Hi I had my surgery last Friday in Tijuana and all went well. I'm at home resting and return to my office job next week. I didn't think I was craving any foods or even hungry and then I started dreaming About some of my favorite foods! Did anyone else have this problem? This happened when I did Atkins phase 1 for part of my pre-op diet I dreamt about carbs but now it's happening again? Also my friends invited me out to the movie tomorrow night but the smell of popcorn is gonna be tough, when I did this on the pre-op I was more interested in the popcorn smell than I was the movie.... How do you handle this kinda stuff? Any advice? Debbie
  2. Hi, I will have a facilitator with me unfortunately I'm single and my parents are gone I have one brother and he and his family are not supportive of my decision. I didn't feel right asking any of my friends to come with me. I will definitely be enjoying the warm weather as windchill warnings are out in my area this weekend for -45 to -50C !!! Right now at 6pm it's -27 but with the wind feels like -38c! Good thing I have lots to do inside to get ready for my trip!! I downloaded a translator app last night but I'm not sure if I'm taking my iPad. Thanks for your reply!
  3. Hi! Glad to hear everything went well for you! I have the Canadian coordinator who is Debra. Was there a place for you to secure store your passport, purse when you had surgery? I have no family coming just a facilitator that Debra set me up with. Did you bring an iPad or anything? I know no Spanish other than thank you so I'm concerned about communicating with staff but I was told not to bring valuables so not sure I want to bring my iPad? Is crossing the border a big thing? ( I know...lol a crazy thing to be concerned about but I've never been to Mexico) I know I'll be in the hospital van but just wondered if it's fairly straight forward like crossing the American/Canadian border? Thanks for your time!
  4. Hi I leave for San Diego on the 9th and my surgery is scheduled for the 10th. What can I expect crossing the border, tests at the hospital, and general info about Mexico (never been there). I'm a little anxious about my surgery but am glad to be getting out of the deep freeze here in Canada haha. Will hate coming back to the cold!! Anything you forgot but wish you had? Or anything you were glad you brought? I'm by myself with a facilitator from the company I went with. No family or friends coming.
  5. Oh wow! I could have wrote this post except I haven't had a hip replacement. I avoided telling people because of their reaction. My sister in law was like you just need to walk for exercise and eat better. Didn't she notice that I can barely walk or stand for very long without being in extreme pain? My brother was also appalled that I was going for surgery. I like you tried many diets, weight watchers, Atkins, went to the nutritionist, prescription medication, only to lose about 20-30 lbs. I just decided that I knew my body best and knew that I needed surgery as a starting point for me, I had been thinking about it for a few years. Christmas was tough with my brother and his wife and I had to finally say I don't want to talk with you guys about this if you can't be supportive. It's hard enough trying to prepare both mentally and physically for the surgery without others nattering at you. The surgery is going to be the easy part the life change is gonna take work. I certainly relate to you and I believe WE CAN do it!!!
  6. Hi everyone! I'm having gastric sleeve surgery in Mexico next week (yikes!) on Jan 10 (I leave on jan 9th) with Dr Ponce de Leon. I spent Most of November on Atkins induction and lost 25 lbs. Most of December I was on protein shakes and one salad meal. That was so much harder than Atkins! I've only lost another 10 lbs since the 25lbs. Any advice before I go? Any good weight loss surgery books or cookbooks anyone would recommend? I know the surgery will be the easy part....the hard work comes after, but I'm looking forward to this life change!!
