  1. Thank you, Nessy76! Makes it easier to know it’s not always as smooth sailing for others too. How far out are you now and how do you feel?
  2. Hi all, I had the ESG 1-wk ago and it has been a bit of a struggle for me. Heartburn, frequently light-headed, night sweats and I feel very hungry but have only been able to take in around 300 calories/day approx 50g protein/day. Anyone else find themselves in a similar state a week post op? I’m definitely improving overall but this has been very challenging with a lot of ups and downs. Thanks!
  3. I would also recommend hiring a nurse or home health aide for at least a day or two. I could NOT have survived the first couple days alone. Each person is different but it’s better to be safe than sorry!
  4. Hi, I really appreciate all of your updates, Tex. I always wanted to weigh in (no pun intended) with my experience which thus far has not been as easy as yours. I’m 4-days post procedure and feel only slightly normal for the first time. The first 48-hrs were pretty horrible for me. Couldn’t keep anything down. Kelt spitting back up like a baby! I keep everything down now but am struggling to meet my protein goals. I’m going back to work tomorrow and each day is a little easier but I think people should be prepared that th first Few days can be very very challenging. I wish everyone the best of luck. We can do this. At least that’s what I keep telling myself!
  5. Hi All: Has anyone had this procedure at Johns Hopkins? If so, what are you thoughts? I've been wavering a lot on having it done but feel ready to make it happen!
  6. My goal is to lose 80 lbs. the short recovery time is super appealing. Though I would love to talk to someone who is a year+ out from the procedure.
  7. Hi ksuda and EW11211 I had a phone consult with the physician at Johns Hopkins and he told me that the stitches come out (on their own) after about 12-months or so. I would definitely double check with your surgeons. Please let me know if they say otherwise. Where did you have the procedure done? How are you both feeling? I'm still debating between the VSG end the endo procedure, though now that I know the stomach doesn't stay stitched up forever I am leaning toward VSG.
  8. Hi EW- Thank you I really appreciate the positive feedback as I'm very close to pulling the trigger so to speak. My one worry is what happens to the stomach that is stitched up and left behind? Does the stomach grow together where it's stitched? Do the stitches stay in? Fall out? Can the stomach that stays behind cause problems? Let me know if your doctor addressed any of these with you!! I have a consultation on Monday with the surgeon. Thanks!
  9. How was the procedure? How are you feeling now? Any weight loss? I too am thinking about having it done.
  10. They will be doing it at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington in the next couple of months. I have been thinking about doing it. Have spoken to folks at VHC and Hopkins about it...

    Endoscopic Sleeve

I have been looking into the endoscopic sleeve, along with the laproscopic, and have not made up my mind yet. I was quoted $15k for the endoscopic sleeve from Johns Hopkins. There are not many institutions that do them yet and I'm slightly concerned about the lack of long term outcomes data available. Please share any information you get! I would LOVE to chat with someone who has had the procedure done.
