  2. 4 more days of the pre op diet!

  3. Day 1 of 6 of my pre op!

  4. How exciting! Me too! Are you in Houston?
  5. I need to get down a few more lbs before my preop on 9/13. Working on it hard!
  6. My surgeon is confident that I will be rid of the fatty liver almost instantaneously and that gives me confidence. I hope its the case for you as well. My blood sugar levels are always in range, but my A1c was borderline; Its now in control with the metformin and he's confident about that as well. As the days go on, I find more reasons that support surgery; Its definitely keeping me going strong on my diet. Hopefully you wont ever need to go to a hepatologist after surgery!
  7. Im on Pioglitatozole (generic); I used to take Actos ( brand) but it doesn't make a difference for me. I don't know if i truly needed it but i had an aggressive endocrinologist who told me that i needed to get the sleeve ( about 50lbs ago) and that i was going to have cirrhosis in 6 months. She put me on metformin and actos and Vit. E 800 to combat the insulin resistance and liver issues as they go hand in hand. I had a hepatologist that said that it wasnt so bad but i still take the generic version of all the meds 3 years later. I dont go to the endocrinologist anymore as she was actively increasing my stress levels but she's the reason that bariatric surgery was even in my realm of possibilty. So hopefully ill be off some of the meds shortly!
  8. 1. BRAS!!! Since I've been pretty chunky since before puberty, I dont actually know what my true cup size is. Cant wait to get to a stage that I can get fitted AND buy pretty bras from a regular retail store. 2. Same goes for clothes. Im ready to not have to pay double the cost for trendy clothes. Don't get me wrong, I love Torrid and Cato but Target sells the same stuff for smaller sizes for half the cost. 3. Can't wait to take a vacation and sit in an airplane seat without worrying that the seatbelt wont fit or being uncomfortable because my hips are squeezed in. 4. Also getting off medications for fatty liver and diabetes is a plus ;P Im so excited for all of us!!!
  9. Scheduled for 9/26!

    Not telling Mom/some others....opinions

I'm pre-op and have told just my husband so far. I'm an extremely private person, and have been this way for as long as I can remember and therefore most likely won't be sharing my path with anyone. People around me are extremely nosy about things that don't pertain to them and i really don't care to divulge any part of my personal life. Its not like they have anything positive or helpful to add once they do hear about my life - so i choose to do my own thing in private. My concern is my parents; I do worry that they'd be offended that I didn't divulge this "huge secret" to them or rather, trust them with my decisions. Honestly I'm choosing to be selfish. I dont want to deal with calls or texts while i'm trying to heal my body and my mind. I know that changing my relationship with food will be an uphill battle and I really want to give it my all without any distractions. As much as my parents love me they would be real distractions. These are my two cents. I recommend that you choose to be as selfish as you can afford. This is your journey and your "rebirth". Decide who is your support system and stick with them and noone else. The rest can deal. Love!

I'm with Dr. Snyder in Houston. I had a 4 month weight management period and I swear I don't know where the time went . I'm waiting on the scheduler to call with a date; so nerve-wracking!!!

You can do it!! I'm on month one.....feels like time is at a stand still. But I finished my nutritionist appt today, first class Thursday! So I'm half way there!! Post when you get your date!! I'm here in Naples Florida! Which insurance did you have? I'm Aetna.

Time is going too slow while I wait for a date but I know it'll be here in a blink. I can't wait to post about my date and join a group of sleevers! I'm with a private *** in Houston.

  13. Please don't quit! You can do this! The worst thing that can happen right now, is that you dont meet the weight requirement and your approval gets pushed back a little. But if that's what needs to happen in order to get you to that initial goal, think of it as a blessing. You'll need to be in the right frame of mind when you go into the Op because when you come out, you'll need to rewire that brain. I am in the very same boat as you; I have 15 lbs to lose in 6 weeks. Go low carb, eat more protein and really focus on tracking your intake (MyFitnessPal is great) . Just power through it now because what waits for you at the end of these 15 lbs is a new start to your new life. I have faith in you! Good Luck!
  14. I cannot agree with this enough. Don't just look at your current situation and you're current health; you're trying to set yourself up for success in your future. Even more seriously, you're trying to get healthy so you can BE AROUND for the future. The life span of overly obese people are so much shorter than the average person. Not to mention, the quality of life. I have extremely well meaning loved ones, but not one of them have struggled like I have with my weight. My mother was "fat" all her life but the most she's ever weighed was 140 ( 5'4'') smh. Believe me, I understand your concerns; I've gone back and forth with my decision to pursue surgery. I've let myself be influenced by people who have ZERO understanding of what my life is like. I finally made the call because it dawned on me that I needed help to get better; that im not as strong as I thought. Ultimately, you are the only one who will be able to make this call; dont let anyone else do it for you. Good Luck!

    Preop weight loss

That's what I've noticed with a lot of the bariatric patients that I follow on social media. Keto/ low carb and some version of plant based diets seem to be popular. I've recently stopped eating most meats ( except fish) and my body seems to prefer this. Congrats on your weight loss and new life!

    Preop weight loss

My surgeon wanted me to lose 10 lbs before surgery. My insurance needs me to not have gained any weight since my first consult, but i gained 5 lbs in that first two weeks. So now i have a total of 15 lbs to lose. I've basically been eating as clean as possible and as close to a post surgery diet as my body will allow me. I have a green smoothie in morning, salad for lunch and a fish based dinner. I'll switch things out as i feel like but for the most part this is my diet. I have one more month left before my last weigh in, prior to insurance approval; my goal is to go very low carb about two weeks before. I have had temporary success with Keto so I'd recommend trying that.= or at least a low carb diet. Its pretty helpful to get those quick lbs off pre - op. My issue was maintaining the lifestyle but i think once I have the sleeve, the new diet and lifestyle should be low carb friendly. Plus low carb is good for those with diabetes or pre diabetes. Good Luck!

    Starting my journey!!!

In the weight management phase of this process; can't wait! My husband is very supportive of my decision but doesn't seem too worried right now. I think he's just taking it a day at a time and will handle issues as they come. I do keep feeding him information as learn it so as to prepare him more than he is now. He's not a jealous kind of guy so I don't think he's thought about the attention issue in the future. We're very open with each other so if something were to arise, we'd definitely talk about it. The key is open communication and trust; its worked for me so far. We'll see if that changes lol . Good Luck!

    TODAY IS MY F'ING Day.!!!!

Good Luck and Congratulations on making it!! Keep us posted!
  20. Mine was literally answering a questionnaire ( 400 questions) and then a quick meeting with the therapist. It was nothing too deep or intense. They then "graded" the questionnaire and cleared me. Barring any glaring mental health issues, I think they will clear most people. Don't sweat it!

    Pre op weight

I'm in a similar boat as you. Still in the weight management phase; and i need to lose 15 lbs by August. I know its doable but its still nerve wracking. My focus is getting approved for surgery; I'm setting my sights solely on getting the sleeve and starting my life anew. I believe you can do it too!
