    Too nervous

Yesterday I felt great. Today not so much. They gave me jello and Italian ice to try and keep down but it made me extremely nauseous and hurting. I'm extremely tired too. HW - 230 SW - 215 GW - 120 Height 5'5"

    So happy

Had my surgery today. Cried my eyes out the whole morning, but all of a sudden I woke up in recovery with LITTLE TO NO PAIN! Amazing. Barry gas pain either. Walking is very difficult, but I managed to go for a little walk today. Going to try each hour or two tomorrow. Never been so happy. HW - 230 SW - 215 GW - 120

    So happy

It was funny. I told them I was having an anxiety attack and they said "oh we'll give you a little Valium (and boy did that burn going through my iv in my hand..) and then I was still crying, still anxious. So we went to the OR. I don't even remember them giving me anything else haha HW - 230 SW - 215 GW - 120 Height 5'5"

    Wife was sleeved yesterday

I'm glad your wife is feeling better. I've been questioning MANY people on here because it seems like no two people have the same experience. Do you guys live near your surgeon (assuming your surgery is by the same one) ?

    Tuesday's the day

Oh, I forgot to mention. Did you have difficulties drinking the 3 days you were there, or end up in the ER at any point (if you don't mind me asking that is) ?

    Tuesday's the day

Oh I totally agree it'll be worth it! I've never had surgery in my life. Only been put under for wisdom teeth removal and don't even remember it. I'm only 20 years old and trying to make a lifestyle change that's permanent. I never want to be where I've been the past 5 years. I've never had any health concerns really. I do have a benign growth tumor in my knee but from growth, nothing serious. I've just read a lot of people's posts that made me very nervous.. I don't handle pain too well lol. Plus I'm not excited for the 3 hour flight home [emoji24] but it'll be worth it in the long run.

    Too nervous

Yes but doesn't believe much of it. Apparently the patients that had problems with him were very high risk patients
  12. I'm right there with you..

    Too nervous

Most likely not.. my mother is paying for this and it's a pretty much, "now or never" with her
  14. Mine is the 27th!! You'll do great, you seem to have a great mindset. I was a little nervous but a close friend of mine talked me out of my nerves. Just think, in just a couple days we'lol both be done with surgery and on our way to healthier lives

    Drinks after sleeve

I was told depending on your habit, straws are okay - as some people tend to "gulp" with straws. I couldn't ever gulp unless drinking straight out of a can, so they said straws I could try. However, they also told me soda might be okay in low quantities later on after surgery - I just put soda in my past and have moved on from it as a personal choice. Each surgeon has their own restrictions for their patients. No two people are the same
  16. I had asked a similar question on here, as I cheated with baked chicken once. I've heard every surgeon has a different plan/idea for their patients. I have 3 days left of my pre op. The day after, I actually called my surgeon and told him that I had broke down and cheated once. He told me, "thank you for your honesty. The point of this diet was not to starve you, was not to upset you, but to test how you could handle being restricted. You were honest, and cheated with a sensible meal," (as I only had chicken. A tiny bit of seasoning on it, no sauce, no drinks during, nothing else on the plate. I don't think some steamed veggies will hurt you, but like I said, every surgeon is different. Your cheating wasn't with "bad" foods, but maybe just try calling him or when you go in, talk to him about it. Good luck, and remember, only 3 more days of it!! Is your surgery June 27th?
  17. I was wondering what they do right before surgery. Do they do another urinalysis, blood work, that kind of testing if you've already had it done a week before surgery? I've never had surgery before and just didn't know why I needed to be at the hospital 4 hours before my surgery. My surgery date is June 27th.
  18. Sorry for posting a lot, but I have just finished my first day of pre-op liquid diet (consisting of Optifast 3x a day, or clear liquids like broth and plenty of water). My diet will consist of 14 total days, my surgery is scheduled for June 27th. My insurance did not agree with this surgery, so I was extremely lucky and very grateful that my parents (I'm 20 years old) have stepped in and paid for it. I made it through today with minimal hunger and slight stomach cramping and a headache until bed time... which is now. I don't feel hungry I don't think.. but in my mind I am. This all liquid diet is the hardest thing I've ever done and it's only been a day! I'm currently on the verge of a mental breakdown as I really want this procedure and I know I can do it, but my mind won't work with my body. Please.. any tips... any good vibes... anything at all you can give me to raise my spirits.. I need it to get through this.

    Breaking down

The first few days were hell for me [emoji20] I felt like I was becoming more and more weak and tired as time went on. And then, day 5 hit, and it was like I'm a new person. Weird as it may sound, that was the first day I haven't experienced any tiredness during the day, weakness, or even a headache. My emotions are still random at times, but I know that'll go away eventually. My surgeon would not allow gum of any kind, but it kind of worked out because I'd always feel sick, somewhat nauseous, when I chew gum. But if that helps you, that's awesome! Ice chips help too and will help with getting in fluids if you haven't tried that. I struggled yesterday seeing my friends when they ordered out to a Chinese restaurant I used to love, but I managed to stick to my diet. We can do this!! Good luck to you! [emoji4]

    Breaking down

I'm an "ice eater" normally! I always end up chewing on ice and it does help! After day 5, I had no desire to chew anymore and when I felt hungry, 1 optifast drink fixes that instantly.

    Breaking down

I also have chronic migraines but I'm at the point where my surgeon no longer wants me to take any medications like Tylenol. Good luck to you - we only have 7 days left!! Starting to get nervous, yet excited!
  24. I'm currently on my pre-op diet.. and I'm noticing that I become depressed for a day, then I'm okay, then sad again. I feel like I can't do normal things like go to the lake with friends as they always order food and drink a lot.. things I needed to give up. I've been in my house for days now just feeling like I won't ever be able to spend days with them again.

    Sadness in waves

Okay, but at the time I didn't know what else to do. I just felt different than my friends. Like I said before, it's just waves of sadness that come to me that's all.
