Hi all! I'm am getting sleeves on 7/12/17. I am wondering how your weight loss journey has impacted your relationship with your significant other... good, bad, ugly. I have heard a lot about how differently the world will treat me, but I'm interested in what I should prepare for at home. Thanks!

Has anyone else experienced this bubbly chest feeling? I am not having problems getting down clear liquids, no vomiting, lots of expected burping, but the bubbly sensation is so strange in my chest.

I love spicy food and missing the heat in my diet. I was sleeved 7/12 and am currently 10 days post op. I had surgery in Mexico and they didn't mention anything about spicy food. What has you Dr or nut said about spicy food?

What a relief! Thanks for sharing.

Hi there! I am looking for alternatives that have a similar mouth feel to rice and pasta. Has anyone found anything amazing?

Bariatric plan exclusion?
Shereseed replied to smadams's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was specifically excluded. I was denied over and over again, with a higher BMI. I just got back from Mexico, where I had it done. So far, so good. Definitely worth it. -
Need friends and support

I was sleeved on 7/12. They told me to just keep the incisions clean, but not to keep them covered with bandages after today (4 days post op). -
Liquid phase postop
Shereseed replied to Old2NewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 days clear liquids, 10 days full liquids, then 10 days purée, and so on. My day 1 wasn't the day of surgery though. It was the day I was released from the hospital, so really I did 2 days of iv only prior to clear liquids. -

I'm in Bremerton. Getting sleeved 7/12. -
I am feeling the same as both of you. The 12th can't come fast enough.

Hi there! I am having surgery in Mexico on July 12th. I am flying home to Seattle from San Diego on July 15th. I know many of you have done this. I'm wondering how the flight went. Any tips or tricks? Thanks!

Anyone else fly 2 days after their surgery?

What are you saying?
Shereseed replied to Old2NewMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to Mexico because my insurance specifically excludes weight loss coverage. There is no way around that. Self pay in the US is upwards of $20,000. In Mexico, the cost is considerably lower and just as safe at a reputable facility. I am getting sleeved in Mexico on 7/12, and I have only told 4 friends, no family. I don't want them to worry. -
What are you saying?

I have only told 3 friends and my boyfriend. Since I am going to TJ, Mexico, I am afraid my family will freak out. I'm terrified to tell them. The people I have told are being super supportive. One of my friends is coming along as my travel companion to ensure everything goes well. I haven't quite figured out how to tell my family yet... open to suggestions. -
I messaged the admin to see if it can be changed to secret. I'm a secret sleever too. I doubt anyone I know will be searching out sleeve groups, but it would be nice to have that extra assurance.

I completely understand. I was worried about the same thing, but according to FB only members can see what's in the group. I have only told 4 people, and I definitely don't need my family finding out that I am having surgery in Mexico on FB. They would freak out.

Danee was kind enough to create a group on facebook called "July 2017 Sleevers." It is private, so nobody on fb will see the posts or comments you make within the group, unless they are members. Everyone here is welcome to join!

I absolutely ate what I wanted prior to starting. I gained 5 lbs. day 2 of my preop diet and I am down 5lbs.
-
Thank you for doing this! I started my pre op diet yesterday. I've lost 5 lbs (all water I'm sure). It is tough but worth it.
-
I always seemed to diet right around my bday. Lol! This lifestyle change will be worth the sacrifice though!

Good Morning, I am preparing for post-op and am a little lost about how to choose protein powder/drinks. Do you have a favorite? I tend to shop a lot on Amazon. Thanks!!!

Relationship changes
Shereseed replied to Shereseed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so happy to hear these positive stories! My boyfriend is average weight. I am doing my surgery in Mexico, because I am self-pay, so he won't be with me. I am trying to keep him informed and educated, but he doesn't really understand the struggles. Just today he ordered pizza, forgetting that I started my preop diet. Anyone else face this type of situation? -
I'm the 12th too!

Yes, someone did. It is called July 2017 sleevers.
