  1. I had my surgery on Monday and have been vomiting ever since, can't keep up with my sips, nothing taste right and I'm having a lot of back pain. I'm still in the hospital and it seems as If i may be staying another night. Do you guys have any advice for me? I'm walking every hour, but just can't get those sips in... I'm vomiting at least 3 times a day
  2. I'm sitting here at my docs office and wanted to update you all. I have been "promoted" to soft solids .. yayyyyy Day of surgery I weight 231lbs and today I weight 215lbs [emoji15][emoji3] Due to me vomiting so much and the constant nausea they have extended my short term disability 2 more weeks vs going back tomorrow. (Vomited in the office [emoji30]🤢) After going over my food journal they realize I'm very short on my protein.... but it's because I'm scared to eatttttttttt 🤢 My doctor is mostly concerned about ulcers with all the pressure my pouch, I have to come in tomorrow to the IV clinic for some fluids and lab work

    Oatmeal?

My doc approves oatmeal during the puréed stage, it's in my approved list. They did say to eliminate it after going into the solid stage for 6 months (makes no sense to me)

    On the verge of dehydration!

Hi Kayla, I totally understand your frustration, I was sleeved 6/26 and I'm just getting better with my liquids. My main issue is the nausea and vomiting all day, I still force myself to sip water.. what works for me and something I hated before the sleeve is ice cold water (lots of Ice). Try having a nice warm tea in the morning and take water with you everywhere you go or move around the house, it will be a constant reminder to sip... dehydration can be very dangerous for us. Something someone mentioned to me was putting a Sipping timer on my phone to go off every 10-15 minutes. Hope this help, with time it will get better
  5. I have been doing very good with my soft foods, to be honest nothing I've ate has set wrong. But I basically have to force myself to eat, as soon as I start eating the nausea sets in. I have been on the down side since surgery, I'm tired of the oatmeal, mash and eggs [emoji30] I know it will get better but when? My mom thinks that it's all in my head since I wasn't "ready" for the surgery. I had a sleeve due to a massive tumor that had to be removed and the only way to do so was to cut that part of the stomach out. I was obese at 238lbs 5'3 which is why everyone around me thinks I "killed" two birds at once. I haven't been able to celebrate my tumor removal because even in my good day I'm feeling blah [emoji17] my family doesn't understand, I don't understand. I went to see the psychologist yesterday and agreed to 2x a week. Hopefully this will help
  6. I hope once I start eating solid foods this subsides.. [emoji30]
  7. OMG!! That's a long time. I'm going nuts going on 3 weeks, I can't imagine months 🤢[emoji15]
  8. Yes. I have tried a few of them but right now the one that seems to work best is the one that dissolves under my tongue

    Do I Smell Different?

I was sleeved 6/26 and I'm having a very hard time with my smell and the smell of people. In the hospital the nurses body spray would make me gag and same goes to my own and those who wear heavy perfume around me. My husband and I have been arguing because his after shower smell really makes me nauseous. I thought I was going crazy, I will show this to him to prove it was the surgery lol, will make him feel better (I think)
  10. I have mentioned how hard sipping is, my crazy nausea and the fact that just looking at birth and my protein makes me gag, I think it's all mental being that I did a 3 week liquid diet, towards the end of my diet I was already feeling anxious about these foods. My doctor thinks it's totally normal that I feel this way, well yesterday I fainted and my mom thought it was because I haven't been eating or having much protein. Later on in the day she made me 1 scrambled egg, which I ate (chewed very well) only ate about half or a little more (1.50z) and it did not make me feel bad AT ALL.. I was expecting to feel sick being that I should be starting my puréed today and the scrambled egg is considered a soft food. How many of you have tried soft foods before directed and did not feel sick? I'm not planning on introducing the soft foods for another week as my plan states... merely because I'm scared to eat anything.... gosh, I'm even scared when sipping water [emoji46][emoji19].

Egg salad sound really good. I will try that next week. I have never tried unflavored protein, I will grab some today at Walmart

Omg thank you so much, I was feeling terrible and like a failure... I have to start looking up puréed recipes. I think this would be the toughest stage for me, but I have to get my proteins in
  14. How are you doing with your food intake and sipping through the day? Congratulations on your sleeve. I had mine June 26, and I'm having a hard time. Can't wait to be out of this stage, forcing the liquids down is very hard especially when you deal with nausea all day
  15. I'm doing better today. I started milk and I had about 2-3 ounces. I still can't do my protein shake or my pills... it just won't go down. My mom is staying with us for the month and she's cooking for my family while I recover, I think I'm spending too much time focused on their food to focus on my own. This is way harder than I thought it would be :-( I don't even want to think about the puréed diet [emoji37]
