Surgery is scheduled November 21st

finally got a date, anyone scheduled in November? -
I'm one step away from completing my requirements for my insurance. It's seems like it be in August or early September when I will get the sleeve. I'm extremely nervous and back and forth on if this is the right decision or should I just keep struggling with losing/ gaining weight roller coaster. My fear of course is complications and the whole idea of having surgery because I've never had any surgery done before. I hope I'm not the only one with these fears.

Well I have done all of my requirements for my insurance, now its just a waiting game. I am in the process of trying the liquid diet (Day 1) to see if I can handle doing liquids all day ... so when the time comes for me to do it for 2 weeks, I can be mentally prepared. Wish me luck!
-
Yes, I going to try to do it for a week as well. So far so good, I think because I am busy at work that I'm really not thinking about it.
-
awesome... so far so good with the liquid diet today. I wish you the best of luck.. How long you are going to try to do it?
-

Congrats on getting a date, no I do not have a date yet. I just completed my requirements for the insurance. So the app can give you reminders?
-
I had my last dietitian visit on yesterday... whew! I have an office job.. so I am mostly sitting, but I have my fitbit to remind me to get up every hour! so that helps. I am not a snacking person, but sometimes I just forget to eat because I can get so busy at work and not think about. So I know from researching, that it is a MUST to get liquids, proteins in daily. When I had my four visits with the dietitian, she was telling me I have to get in the habit of eating more... THE RIGHT things so that I can get my daily intake. I know a plan has to be in place, I do very well with a plan! I can not just jump in and hope it works out... it always turn out to be chaotic I am now in the "waiting phase" the surgeon's team is making sure I have all that is required for my insurance so they can submit the paperwork for approval. I am super nervous and kinda excited....I am still on the fence a little because not everyone is on my team to take this path.

hey, I have been on here for a couple weeks, researching the surgery, I am not a 100% sure if this is route I want to take. At this point I am about 70%..lol This is a big decision to make because I have never had any procedures done and I am pretty much blessed to be healthy as far as no major issues, but of course I am morbidly obese. According to the doctor I will have to lose 96 pounds. I am struggling with this decision because my family is not on board for support because they say i can lose the weight on my own. I have been on every diet in America and its a gain, lose, plateau type of situation and i am tired of it. This might be a good jump start to get the weight off.

My family struggles not as much as with weight, they gain a little and easily lose it. I know as I have gotten older, 41, that its gotten harder to lose it. I have even gone to the extremes when i was younger by becoming anorexic and lost 35 pounds in a month...I got support/an understanding that its not the way to go because its unhealthy. Its like I have come to the last option which would be surgery.

Yes, I'm glad that I am not alone. I am 5'4 and 255lbs. So I know the minute i go up in pounds, health issues will creep up. Last year, my cholesterol, glucose levels, blood pressure was high. So that scared me and I lost some weight to where I am now. Now I still have high blood pressure, but all my levels are normal. I don't want to fall back on old habits, but I want the support as well.

Hey! Thanks that would be good to have a walking buddy!

Do they have a weigh in at support group?
Sugar42 replied to Frankette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there, My insurance required 4 dietitian visits and my third visit, it was a group setting. I was wondering how they was going to do the weigh in part, but it was more like a presentation and open forum for any questions we may have. I had to ask if I could right myself after everyone left. It wasn't mentioned at all about weight. My last visit with the dietician is next Wednesday and it is also a group setting. -
Psychology Appointment Jitters!!
Sugar42 replied to leslie0785's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you! I just finished my psychological evaluation and it was fine. I was there for about an hour. The psychologist told me that it depends on your insurance of how many tests you will have to be there. I can only share my experience, I have Cigna and I was only required to take two small test which was true and false and the other other art was agree/ disagree statements. Just answer the the questions don't over think it and you should do fine. I know I was about to lose mind because I only have one appointment left next Wednesday and then I'm done with all of the requirements for the insurance!!! You will do fine it's not hard, you will prob look at some of the statements or questions and smile like " are you seriously asking or saying this?" I walked in with all this "oh my gosh, I hope I do well" and it was not bad at all. So Breathe! Relax -Relate-Release! -
Debating if this is right for me
Sugar42 replied to yoyostopsyoyoing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It felt like i was reading my story when talked about "serial dieter". I have no problem losing once I set my mind to it and there is that famous "stall or plateau" right when you are at your peak of thinking this time it will be successful and that you keep it off this time. So I get discouraged and fall off just a little bit thinking it will be okay to do this.. then next thing i know I have gained back the weight I lost. Now I am 41 and it seems that me and my fat or all these pounds i'm carrying are in a bad relationship, like I am ready to move on and let it go but the fat is that boyfriend that thinks it can work if "he" hangs on and don't want to let me go..lol Its extremely hard to get on track and stay on it. WLS surgery was not in my plan, I was one of those that thought i can do it on my own, but the struggle is real! I ran across an ex-co worker that her and I had the same weight problems, would go on diets, exercise together, and guess what she looks amazing now! She was so excited to tell me that she had the sleeve done a year ago. So now here I am wanting to get the WLS because I feel that it would a jump start to where I want to be and keep my discipline to do the right thing as far as eating and exercising. I feel that it was meant for me to have this conversation with her because she knows my struggles. I am almost done with the requirements so the surgeon can submit it to the insurance for approval. As far as water intake, yes I gulp to try to get my water intake in for the day. I know those habits would have to change. I currently have 5 co-workers that have had WLS and they are able to take in a little more that "sips", from my understanding from them, is that the small "sips" are only in the beginning after you have had your surgery. Of course, each person is different on how their bodies react or cope with the new change. -
Hey there, I'm from Houston also. Congrats on getting your surgery. I am still in the process of getting the requirements taken care. I will be done by July 5th. Who was your surgeon? How are you with getting your liquids in after surgery?
