Anyone have gastric bypass
JohnnyCakes replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
by far the best thing you can do, when researching possible medical procedures for yourself, is to go on the internet and read a lot of anecdotal reviews. -

Sleeve VS Bypass
JohnnyCakes replied to Brittanyblue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
what kind of logic is that?!? ”you can get a new BMW and be done with it. or you can get a used Chevy and see if it breaks down on you like it does for so many others. if it does, you can always go back to the dealership and go thru the entire process again by trading in for... a new BMW.” -

sleeve to mini bypass
JohnnyCakes replied to amoss42268's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
the mini has excellent results but has a risk of GERD. but then so does the sleeve. if you happen to be one who doesn’t end up with bad reflux then you’ll be sound as a hound. -

Gym memberships and workout
JohnnyCakes replied to Chocolatay33's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
exercise does not cause weight loss. do what you enjoy. which likely doesn't involve a treadmill in a gym. -
Tomorrow is my first meeting with my surgeon.
JohnnyCakes replied to jrsone's topic in The Guys’ Room
oh btw - you asked about "goal weight"... i personally think it's kind of a stupid concept. your body will get down to what it wants to get down to, largely based on genetics. some people like axlr8n go a little lower than they'd prefer, some don't get down far enough. my arbitrary goal weight is 220. but if weight loss stopped TODAY and i never budged below 275, i'd still get the surgery 100 times over! because life at 275 is that many times better than it is at 375. and... if i get all the way down to 200, i'll be happy there too. -
Tomorrow is my first meeting with my surgeon.
JohnnyCakes replied to jrsone's topic in The Guys’ Room
dude, in all honesty, you are going to rock it. it will be easy for you. i can tell you "get it" just by your responses here. don't fear the surgery, don't fear the aftermath. i think the worst part about this for you is how long you have to wait to get it! if you read *most* of this forum, and all they do is b***h about how HAAAARD it is and what a JOURNEY it is, wah wah wah. um, no. i was 370 when i started this and i'm down 100lbs since my surgery in June and it's the easiest thing in the world. hard is being overweight. trying to track calories, worrying about carb:fat ratios, working out when you're a size 4X... you know the drill. easy is not being interested in eating very often, but when you are, you just eat generally healthy food until your body says to stop. i am constantly amazed how laser-precise my hunger signals are. if i did a big lifting weights workout in the morning, i can finish most of a Chipotle salad w/ chicken and beans later that day. but if i've been sitting on my ass all day, i can barely eat two bites of anything and body's like "nah dude". it is so cool. be excited. and best of luck to you. your life is about to take off. -

i was offering help. i think your rate of weight loss expectations are far too high, i think you are exercising too much (800 calories per workout is extreme), and i tried to educate you that weight loss is NOT as simple as calories in / calories out. but you have rejected all of that (sound) advice and have turned into a raging b*tch launching ad hominem attacks against me. again, i think finding a good psychologist might be your best bet.
