It started about 3 weeks out. Eating makes me nauseated, especially meat. Everything I've eaten thus far sits fine, but actually eating it is the problem. Nothing smells good, texture makes me gag, and thinking about eating makes me sick. The only thing that I can think about is bread and nuts. Is this normal? All the foods I would enjoy I can't because I get so nauseated. Like I said everything sits fine when it finally goes down but I really just force it down. I'm on nausea pills but nothing has changed. Anyone else dealt with this? (And no I haven't had bread [emoji23])

Surprisingly they didn't give me zofran, which I asked for in the ER. The doctor didn't give me any nausea medicine pre or post op scripts. Only during my hospital stay. During my ER visit I was given ondansetron, hasn't helped much. I'm 5 weeks post op btw

Today I had 3 almonds, and they really helped with my nausea. I'm 1 month and 1 week out and they didn't bother me. My guide doesn't say anything about nuts and I'm on regular foods. What's your thoughts. I would love some pistachios [emoji7]

Most absurd thing people said to you when you told them you were having WLS?
leiaD replied to mytime4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
[emoji23] hopefully my facial expression said it for me! The stuff people say.... I also had plenty of people suggest exercise as if I wasn't already doing it. They automatically think you don't exercise. Or that after surgery it's just sunshine and rainbows and I lose all the weight just by sitting and eating. People should really do research. -
Foods you no longer enjoy
leiaD replied to MerryMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My taste buds and food likes/dislikes have changed. I can't stand any type of minced meat -shiver- smells have changed as well. It's been difficult finding foods that I still like. But other people have said after a while you go back to "normal". I shall see [emoji4] -

Lol one person told me "you're not small, but you're not big BIG, so you don't need it." [emoji848] thanks...... that was just so helpful and well thought out -
I'm regularly weak and tired. Cleaning makes me very tired and I get dizzy and weak knees sometimes. I'm 3 weeks post op, and I can't drink protein shakes (my doctor knows). I'm trying to eat my protein but I don't really like my food choices and I've become resentful of my choice to have surgery ( I try to focus on the results). With that being said my desire to eat has decreased from lack of like and interest in my food options. I just feel myself getting really upset for making this choice. I don't know what to do....anyone felt the same way?

Wow I'm only going like twice and my urine is darker than normal. I'm trying to get more water in. I'm 3.5 weeks post op, so between the nausea and sleeping from feeling tired and weak... it's work

Need Cottage Cheese Pancakes Recipe
leiaD replied to SleeveDreamer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does it taste like pancakes? And when can you start having them? -
Oh okay! I was July 19th. What's your personal goal? I'm 5'8 and I'm reaching for 160-155

Congrats! When did you get surgery?

I'm on puréed. I have different things that I've tried. I definitely don't like what I use to. Before I had no issues with mash potatoes, now I can't stand them lol I've had ricotta bake, curried salmon, refried beans. Tuna, chicken and everything goes down just fine without bothering my sleeve
-
So after surgery I had an issue with protein shakes, I become very nauseated from taking a sip. I've tried different brands, even the isopure clear ones. They also leave clumps in my throats and on my tongue that I have to scrape off. No other drinks cause that. I had no problem drinking them before surgery... actually I was drinking them before my pre-op diet. I just had refried beans and cheese for lunch.

Yum I really want one with cheese lettuce and avocado [emoji7]

Post op. Surgery 7/6. Home today and gained 8pounds
leiaD replied to lilbigprsn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually wouldn't worry. I noticed that I wasn't losing weight, and I went back to the doctors office and I was down 9lbs. My scale acts funny, so I'm thinking of getting a new one as it's jumping up and down. Try a different scale if you must? But honestly your stomach is swollen, retaining water? -
How far out are you? This group that I'm in mentioned low card tortilla wraps. I'm craving a buffalo chicken wrap

Eating out the first time after surgery
leiaD replied to tinab59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say enjoy yourself. If you know where you will be going, look up the menu beforehand to see what bariatric friendly options they may have. Call with any questions. Ask for a to go box in the beginning so you can separate your portion. Eat slow and enjoy the conversation! I'm only 3 weeks post op, but I've been out with my sister. -
What was the biggest surprise for you at or after surgery? What do you wish you had known?
leiaD replied to sunmeadow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you elaborate? I had my surgery 6/19 and I'm already thinking about how horrible my body is going to look once I lose this weight. I feel like I traded weight loss for saggy skin and breast. Yes, I'm happy that I will be healthier but I'm 27 and don't want to have so many things that I have to pay to fix. It's a little disheartening to think after I've stabilize my weight loss and maintain it, that I have to pay for all this corrective cosmetic surgery and still have to struggle with the body issues and how I view myself. I feel I traded one body issue for a few others. -
Well that's scary..... maybe the pool at the hotel ....

I will be a month post op by the time my vacation comes. Going to the Cayman Islands do a little bit of ocean and pool swimming. If I can't, I can't.... my health is more important. But I do feel like my trip is a waste lol can't eat, drink, and possibly not swim. My surgery was suppose to be earlier, but yeah....
-
And how do you know if they are healed? Is that something your doctor tells you? I already did my 1 week post op and my one month comes after my vacation, and I was wondering if I should avoid swimming while on vacation
