Let's Get it Started, July 2017 Sleevers!
NYCGAL000 replied to Redo2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My biggest fear is not the surgery, but my food issues after the surgery. I am a HUGE binge eater on anything salty or crunchy or bready..I never eat sweets ever, dont like them at all, ppl think im crazy because I hate ice cream but i can down 3 bagels in one sitting ! My huge fear is that I will still want to eat when im not hungry and binge on foods I shouldn't. I am petrified that although my body will change, my head wont. does anyone know any good videos or anything to help with this? I can't afford therapist my insurance a waste of time. thanks! -

WLS for a sugar/carb addict and binger?
NYCGAL000 replied to Yettid's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too am a food addict but its not sweets, I cant stand candy, cake or cookies, icecream, none of it, I'll never buy that stuff, I got fat from BREAD, PiZZA, CHIPS, sandwiches, bagels, CRACKERS, anything crunchy and salty. Wont the surgery help so that we will feel full faster when we eat these things or we just should never eat them again? -
Does anyone know if we can have sugar free popsicles on the 10 day preop because I dont see how I can just drink fluids for 10 straight days! Can we have one egg a day or no?

The 30-day mortality rate for sleeve gastrectomy was 0.08 percent, while the rate for gastric bypass was 0.14 percent and 0.03 percent for gastric banding. These mortality and complication rates are lower than those typically associated with gallbladder or hip replacement surgery.Jun 20, 2012 -
Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
NYCGAL000 replied to Dtrain84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
She said she "KNEW PEOPLE" who died on the table? More than one? She must have some really sick friends, I've never heard of anyone dying from this unless they had other complications they didn't tell the surgeon about -
Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?

I am just going to tell people the truth. I dont think we should feel ashamed of doing something good for our health. I know its a personal decision for everyone, but for me, I work in the fashion industry in NYC and I know for a fact if I start dropping tons of weight all of a sudden nobody is going to believe i did low carb because they already know Ive tried that a million times and it didnt work long term. What is the main reason people don't want anyone to know? I already told a few ppl at work except my boss, I just said I'm having surgery but why is everyone so ashamed of it? I'm questioning now if I will be look at like I'm weak if I tell people? (which basically is fine, when it comes to food I am weak) lol -
Good luck Elle! Please let me know how u do! Im having mine 2 weeks after you yikes!
-

My appt is july 14...I cannot wait. I was thin up until 40 and then I gained 100 lbs..so tired of the yo yo'ing. I dont understand some ppl on the blogs are asking how long until they can eat fried food and icecream. Isn't the whole point of this surgery to help us while we change our eating habits and start eating healthy? I got to 250 from eating fried foods! I dont want to eat that crap after surgery!
