I never ever drink soda except if Im sick (just because I dont like it not any other reason) and then I drink diet gingerale. Is that okay if I just have that when Im sick or not even then?

OMG did you lose 108 lbs in 5 months? That is amazing! I'm having my surgery in mid July and going on a cruise in November. So thats about 5 months. Is it realistic to lose about 50 lbs by then or no?

Hello...I was wondering if anyone ever took a cruise shortly after surgery and if so, how did u deal with not being able to eat much or drink alcohol? I am having surgery in 3 weeks then in November I'm going on a ten day cruise. I didn't know I was having surgery when I booked it and I got the unlimited drink package and the upgraded restaurant package lol... Now here I am like an idiot, I won't be able to enjoy any of it will I? It was first cruise too!!! Anyone ever had this issue? Will everyone around me eating and drinking drive me crazy? Will I be able to have one glass of wine per day or no? Thanks!

Oh good that's comforting..lol. I'll test my alcohol endurance at home first too... I'm so nervous about alcohol because little sister had gastric bypass years ago and after she became a raging alcoholic and now she just eats gummy bears, drinks and smokes. I'm shocked she's still alive. she's a mess but she hardly drank before the surgery. I recently quit smoking so the 2 weeks not eating pre op and not being able to smoke is gonna be rough... Did u find the pre op fast unbearable? I'm so nervous I have to start liquids only July 5. I'm trying to do low carb now also ...

What is anaphylaxis? My sister had gastric bypass 10 years ago and became a raging alcoholic and chain smoker. I don't even know how she's still alive, she doesn't eat she just eats gummy bears and drinks and smokes. I've put her in rehab 5 times but she always fails and she hardly drank before surgery.

I have a question. I work in NYC in the fashion industry. I am constantly invited to happy hours and social events and everyone drinks like a fish in ny. How do I handle it now when I'm invited to a happy hour that I really cant refuse like my bosses birthday or a coworkers birthday? I am really nervous about this and dont want to be rude but I wont be able to drink ever again after the sleeve correct?

I'm having surgery July 15 and right now I drink about 4 - 64 oz bottles of water per day. I always have! I thought i had diabetes but no...I can't imagine not being able to drink as much. but I'm willing to sacrifice it to be healthy

Are you serious? I've never heard of that! My surgeon requires me to just have liquids 10 days before. I'm going july 15th...How will your liver shrink with just one day? thats odd. you dont have any other pre op requirements?

I wonder why plain water makes so many ppl nauseous after? I guess it's better then being fat...I just don't get it

Hi, I'm getting ready for sleeve surgery in about 3 and half weeks and my question is...all my life I've been a HUGE water drinker. I am ALWAYS thirsty to the point I've been tested for diabetes but no, I am just always thirsty! I drink a TON of water and I mean a ton a day. I love it. I love water more then any drink on the planet. Will I still be able to drink alot of water after the sleeve and if not, am i still going to feel the same insatiable thirst and just not be able to quench it? Thanks!

Well we all got fat eating too much.. So is binge eating when u overeat every single day or what? My issue is I will go about 3 days eating good then weekends eating as much as I want but I don't know if that's binge eating?

I agree, its a very personal choice who you tell and who you dont. I just know that the ppl i work with know I cant stay on a diet and will be suspicious lol

I am seeing Dr Illan in July and yes they give very good instructions and if you dont understand anything you can email or call and they answer right away.
