  1. I have two young girls, 9 and 2. When the smallest was 18 months I just realized that I might not be alive to see her become a mother herself. I had her at 35 and weight of 311. My sister in law had the surgery and was doing really great. It was time for me to be the mother I could be now and when they are adults.
  2. Hi everyone. I'm wondering which scale I should trust. I was in the dr.'s office the other day due to a sinus infection. The digital scale there said I was 122kilograms which equals 268.96 lbs. The scale at home said I was three pounds lighter at 265, this is not a digital scale. Now the digital scale at work is telling me 272.00. Which is accurate? Who do I trust? LOL Have any of you had the same experience with an old fashion scale and digitals scales being so off? TIA

    Which scale to believe?

Thank you! Makes so much sense when you explain it as you did. I'll keep using the one at home for accuracy, it seemed to nearly match up with the one at first care.

What is a non-food activity your REALLY looking forward to?

OMG YES! Dr. Tyner is amazing and has the best bed side manner. I talked with one of his assisting nurses before I went into surgery and he told me that he had assisted Dr. Tyner on over 500 sleeve's. In fact, his mother (the assisting nurse) was also sleeved 6 years ago by Dr. Tyner, and is doing really well. I kid you not, I felt so good right after surgery that I was up and walking three hours later. My sister was sleeved in 2015 by Dr. Tyner as well and she is doing realy well. You have nothing to fear, he and his team are awesome. Sandoval Regional is a great place for surgery also. Everything there is so new and fancy. The team there really knows there stuff. Overall it was a good experience.

Hi! You and I have something in common other than we were sleeved. Dr. Tyner did my surgery as well at Sandoval Regional. How are you doing? Are you from ABQ? I'm in Rio Rancho.

    Anyone from Hobbs/Eunice NM

I'm doing good. Still strugling with ideas for meals. I've lost 47 lbs, I need to update my profile. I ride my stationary bike for 30 minutes each day and stick to the plan as given to me by my Dr. I'm hoping I can get down another 18lbs by 11/22/2017 as my family and I are heading to Disney World. I used to be such a drag on vacation. How are You? When was your surgery? Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

PROGRESS PIC TIME! 2.5 MONTHS POSTOP

You are really looking great. Keep up the good work as you are doing an awesome job. I think I am still scared to take pictures of myself as the reflection in the mirror is still the same to me. I'll post someday.
  8. I am badly craving a taco and was going to make street taco's with corn tortillas. I know one will be enough but has anyone tried this?

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

I've been careful to follow the rules except for one. I need my coffee. I started drinking coffee again about three weeks ago. I'm doing good otherwise.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

The only person who asked me why was my mother. Uhhh....that bugged. After she saw what I went though in those two weeks leading up and the 6 after she realized that this was not an easy way out. It was/is work and it's hard work. We opted for a tool to help us and as long as we stick to the plan, with hard work and dedication it will work. Whenever someone asks why? Tell them because you want to be healthy and if they think this is the easy way out, they are sadly misinformed and should educate themselves.
  13. I worried like crazy before the surgery. When it was over, I realized that I had worried for nothing. Yes the gas afterward is not pleasant and a it hurts but other than that, it's really fine. You will be okay and I'll pray for you. Remember to get up and walk and walk and walk.

    Pregnant pot op

I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my second. I did really well with my nutritionist because eating then, was just like I eat now. Continue to eat the same and you will be fine. Baby will take what he/she needs and you will get what you need. You really have to uptake your water though.

    Feeling sad after surgery...

This board is so great for support, questions and answers about what you/we are going through. If you were not going to have support from your family/friends, it's better that you didn't tell them. No one knew for me except for my husband and sister in law who had the surgery. I had to fake it at work, and with my friends and family. You will be okay and be more awesome when you start to feel better. Not going to lie, the first 6 weeks or so are a bit rough because you are getting used to a new way of living while recovering. I feel so much better now and lighter to boot. Good luck!
  17. I was a size 4 when I got married, got pregnant 10 months later and was a size 6. During my pregnancy I ate everything I could stuff in my mouth. I was 184 after giving birth, I'm 5'2". I yoyo dieted for years after that and I'd lose at most 40lb's only to gain it all back and more. Finally I found myself at 316 and said enough is enough.

    Never ending period

My period was off for weeks after my surgery. I got it the day after I was discharged and it lasted for 14 days, stopped for a week and came back again for another 12 days. Finally I got a two week break and back again. Our bodies went through some trauma with the surgery, I'm guessing it's that? Plus the weight loss.

    Need help

Granted I'm only a couple months out but I get this a lot. I know it's gas because after I have to go to the restroom. After I relieve myself I feel so much better.
  20. Hello! I was sleeved the day after you on June 27. How are you doing with all this?
  21. I loved meat, prior to June 27, 2017. I am a really good cook also, not to toot my own horn, but I really am. I had gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy and did so good that my daughter was born at 6 lb's 3 oz and no fat around her neck. But after surgery my taste buds have changed that nothing taste good and meat is just disgusting to me. I can add sauces, chile, veggies, I gag every time and can only get around 3 bites down. I can't stand eggs or bacon for breakfast. Chicken taste like a game bird to me. Beef, it's the consistency now that grosses me out and I can taste the blood. I am 8 weeks post up and I'm at my wits end. Does this taste bud thing go away? What do I do?
  22. My Dr. never told me about taking a pro-biotic. Do you all think that would help?
  23. I have been eating a lot of beans, protein water and cheese. Eggs make me sick and I've never been a fan of seafood. I'm getting really frustrated because it seems like I can't eat anything.

    Surgery tomorrow

You are going to be fine. I did wake up in pain but it was the air that they pumped in to check for leaks. Don't be afraid to ask for pain meds, only really necessary the first day. The key I think is to get up and walk. That helped reduce the gas pain. I was freaked out also but it will be over before you know it. Good luck and update us when you feel better!
  25. I'm 6 weeks Post Op as of yesterday and I don't feel like I am eating anything anymore. I can't stand chicken, which I used to love. Beef is alright but still hard to get down. Eggs make me gag, I used to love my veggie and cheese omelette every day pre-op. Now eggs make me gag no matter how they are cooked. I CAN'T STAND BACON!! Tried a piece on Sunday and it was disgusting to me. I need protein but everything I eat makes me nauseous unless it's vegetables. I can't live on cucumbers and ranch alone. Anyone further out than me who had the same problem early on?
