  1. I'm 6 weeks Post Op as of yesterday and I don't feel like I am eating anything anymore. I can't stand chicken, which I used to love. Beef is alright but still hard to get down. Eggs make me gag, I used to love my veggie and cheese omelette every day pre-op. Now eggs make me gag no matter how they are cooked. I CAN'T STAND BACON!! Tried a piece on Sunday and it was disgusting to me. I need protein but everything I eat makes me nauseous unless it's vegetables. I can't live on cucumbers and ranch alone. Anyone further out than me who had the same problem early on?

Will my taste buds ever go back to normal?

i'm getting enough water and protein.I drink Protein water now since I can no longer stand the shakes. Each water has 15 g protein and increases my water. cucumbers are also water dense so that goes toward my count. I eat nuts, pretty much the only thing I want to eat now a days. I can't stand fish, it's the seafood taste, that includes shellfish. I was telling my husband last night that maybe I should try giving seafood another try since my tastebuds are out of wack. We went out to eat the other night and I ordered a chicken dish, three bites in I felt like I was going to throw up. I could like taste the "game" of the chicken which is not a gamey protein. Blah.
  3. I used to eat eggs every morning and now it just makes me sick. Sad really. I'm always at a loss for what to eat for breakfast now. I usually just do a yogurt.

    Not Hungry, Regular Food Phase

I am 5 weeks tomorrow. I've been on regular foods for the past week. I hate food now! Meat does not taste good to me. I used to eat an omelette every morning, now I hate them. I loved turkey bacon, now i can't stand the taste. Even nuts taste disgusting to me. I am really trying to eat my protein first but i can only get down about 5 or 6 small bites before I feel nauseous. I am wondering if anyone's taste buds came back to them?

    Social Drinking?

My Dr. told me not to have any alcohol till at least the 8 weeks are up. I am no longer allowed to have carbonation. He said red wine was my best option.
  6. I'm 5 weeks post op today and I'm looking for ideas to eat. I'm a really good cook but for some reason, chicken just does not appeal to me anymore. I was a huge egg eater before surgery. I can barely take the taste now. Any ideas would be helpful.

    At goal... now below goal

Gosh almighty I hate saying this to someone but, maybe you need to up your fat intake? I know that might stir your GERD but that's really the only advice I have for you. I'm so sorry you are miserable. Please get a hold of your surgeon and demand help.

    Week 4 stall

I am at week 5 and have been stalled since week 4. Hopefully now that I am on regular food it will pick up.

    So what does everyone eat?

This is what my NUT said also. I checked her list so I have the berries she suggested to eat today. Do you all eat bread? I'm kind of scared of it since nothing goes down easily. But my list said I can half of an english muffin.

    So what does everyone eat?

I'm 5 weeks post op and had them last night. So good and I could actually stand the taste. I had them with a bit of ranch dressing as that is low in carbs. What week are you?

    So what does everyone eat?

I love the cucumber idea. I will need to bring that to work tomorrow. Thanks for the idea, that's what I'm looking for.

    So what does everyone eat?

I got really sick of protein shakes so my NUT told me to drink Protein Water. I love the grape P2O even though it takes all day to drink. I just got some protein bars that only have 2 g of carbs so I'm excited to try that for lunch. I had celery with peanut butter on top this morning and I'll never do that again. It hurt so much going down. Nothing taste good anymore. I'll take a few bites and then I just can't do it anymore.

    Surgery stories???

My surgery was pretty uneventful. I didn't think it was too painful except for the gas. Once you are more awake, be sure to get up and walk around. My husband made me get up 8 times that day of surgery to walk the hallways. 12 times the day after I was able to get all the gas out and wasn't in much pain when I was released the next day. Honestly, the hardest part for me was not being able to drink water the day of surgery. My nurse was great and snuck me some ice to chew on at midnight. I love her!

    So what does everyone eat?

I've been living off of salads with chicken on them for the past week. I thought at 4 weeks when they moved back to regular food that I would be happily eating. Now, nothing has good taste. Nothing makes me enthusiastic about eating. I did have a kiwi yesterday and it was the best thing i've had in weeks. Then I found out it had 10grams of carbs. I cried.
  15. I think everyone has already said it, but you look amazing. Congrats.

  17. Hello everyone! My surgery is scheduled for 6/27/2017 so I started my two week pre-op diet today. I am doing fine, not hungry but I have a bad headache. I was wondering if you can chew gum during these two weeks and if so, what kind?

    Surgery day?

I was nervous just like you. Before they took me to the surgery room they gave me a pill to swallow. I don't know what it was. I was so out of it before we got there that I think I fell asleep on my own. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Hello! I'm three weeks post op and just started the soft foods phase. I can get down maybe a tablespoon of egg, 3/4 of an Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and a cheese stick all day. Is that enough? I'm also taking my vitamin and trying to get all that water down.

    I'm Miserable

I was just where you are. Make sure that whatever you are consuming, you are taking it down easy, including your beverages. I know that cold water was really hard for me, still is. Hot tea worked well. Also, I got tired of the protein shakes so I started drinking protein waters. P20, grape flavored are my favorite. My husband found them at Walmart for me.
  21. I hate having to post this but I need some help. I am 4 weeks post op and having some issues. Since yesterday I have felt absolutely awful. I've had diarrhea, a massive stomach ache and everything I put in my stomach hurts. Even when I bend down it hurts. I have no fever, no chills and my heart rate is normal. Have any of you gone through this?

    Massive stomach ache. Warning TMI

I just contacted my Dr.'s office and they have put me back on a liquid diet till this passes. I need to watch my pee for the next day to make sure it's not super dark, if so I will be sent to the ER for an IV.

    Honey roasted nuts?

I was just cleared to eat nuts. They were always my go to snack and usually I would keep a container with honey roasted nuts in the event I had a sweet tooth. Do you think these are safe to eat now? I'm 4 weeks Post Op.
