Lol at the snowman.... The larger I get, the more pear shaped I am, but growing up I was always told I had a 24 hours glass figure. Curvy, but I bit bigger than the other girls. I always took it as a compliment.
-
What's kinda funny - I work for a hospital that does WLS, and our ins had an exclusion. The bariatric docs went to bat for the employee's and took it to the board at the ins co (FiserV). It's still not completely covered, but 6 months supervised diet and pays 50% is better than nothing. My out of pocket will be right at $5000, a little less than 1/2, but because I work for the hosp, my max surg cost with ins is $5000 a year.
-
I'd have to finish out the 6 months of physician supervised dieting. My insurance requires it, but we've had a few "exceptions" go through. I've been on Weight Watchers for over a year, and the ins has approved several people who had detail information. I have over a year of food journals - EVERY DAY, weekly weigh-ins, etc... I actually have more stuff than the last lady that was approved.

My situation was a bit different. I went to the seminar with DH a year ago, and we persued his surg first. I'm using the same surgeon, so he's counting the one from last year. So far, it's taken 1 1/2 months to get everything all together. My"file is still out to insurance, Friday will be 2 weeks. We are basically waiting to see if I can have surg now, or if I'll have to wait 6 months (4 more). Grrr.....

bmi of 30 - will any surgeon help me?
myturn0421 replied to carlou72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't mean to offend anyone when I made the statement that the OP was a healthy size - I said size. When I was 170 lbs I was healthy, I looked good, and felt good. Yes, according to all the medical charts, I was not in the healthy weight range, but but if I lost the 15 more pounds to get into my range, my bones start to stick out. I think a size 12-14 is beautiful. So, I apologize. -
Luscious and I posted at the same time - and took the word out of my mouth!

Skinny Jill hit the nail on the head! If your not eating enough, your body will shut down. Your weight loss so far is GREAT  Try keeping a food journal, and at the end of the day figure out how many calories you are eating. You may need to add more.

Luu2008 - I understand what you are saying and honestly, I would say the same thing if OP's BMI was higher. I say this, because binge eating can be dangerous, especially with a band. I think ANYONE should try to get ahold of bingeing before they do something drastic to their body. I agree - if I could have done something about getting fat before I got fat, I would have. I just want everyone to be careful. -

I'm not sure if the lapband is the right answer for you. You are considered a "healthy size" right now. Most, if not all, surgeons require a person to be 100 lbs overweight, with an extensive history of being overweight. Most require your BMI to be 40 or higher. They will do it with a BMI of 35, but you have to have co-morbidities (sleep apnea, hypertension, etc..) I work in a doctors office that does a lot of bariatric referrals and we have had several patients be "denied" surgery because the didn't pass the psych evaluation. Labpand is a physical tool, and it sounds to me like you might need to talk to someone. IMHO. -
Champix without putting on weight
myturn0421 replied to slimmy120's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My DH took it and it worked wonderfully! He was smoking 2 packs a day, then had surgery in May 2007. He decided it wasn't worth it to loose weight to be healthy, yet keep smoking. He has been smoke free since Aug 2007 and has no regrets. As for weight gain, he didn't have any, but he did start it after being banded. -
I second that!!!

Woo Hoo!! I hope to hear back from ins soon so I can set a date. Keep us posted!! :biggrin2:
-
I kind of consider myself both. My insurance covers as of 01/01/2008, but only 50%. So, surgery is $17,000, meaning I still have to come up with $8,500. This includes all fills/aftercare for 12 months. Fills will be $100 each after one year. I'm still waiting to get the go ahead from ins so I can set my date!!!

Go to Newport-News: Women's Clothing, Sportswear, Shoes, Jeans, Special Sizes, and more They have some really nice/sexy swimdresses. I've bought two from them are they are made well. I recently took a black halter swimdess from there on a cruise, and I got A LOT of comments. AND I'M STILL PRE-BANDED!!

First off, there is nothing more important than close support. As much as it would be nice for that to come from you husband, not everyone is so fortunate. I am so sorry - my guess, he doesn't completely understand it. I would reach out to a support group. Most places that do the surgery, have a support group close by. Also, see if he'll go to a seminar with you. Either way, this site is awesome. I haven't been banded yet; I have my fingers crossed to set a date within the next few weeks. Any question, thought, doubt, or victory is found on this site. There is ALWAYS someone here that can relate or just be here to listen. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Who is that girl? Is it really me?

You look amazing! Very encouraging!!! -
our surgeon (DH and I) told us to call the office to have an unfill. Better safe than sorry. We actually had a "scare" this weekend. DH got very sick to his stomach. He just tried to stay calm until the nausea passed. DH is deathly afraid to throw up. We know it's gonna happen sooner or later.:purplebananna:

I haven't been banded yet, but I have come to the conclusion that my 18's have actually stretched out what should be a 20. Ive just gotten so used to wearing my clothes too tight! Over time, clothes lose A LOT of structure and I know thats part of the problem too. I can't wait to get a surg date so I can share clothes sizes with you guys!!:biggrin2:
