    Help!! I'm failing & I can't get up.

Thank you! I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow (with my list) & will be doing some meal-prepping directly after. Thank you!
  2. Sorry to be dramatic, but I recently lost my job & I have found myself binge eating... I'm almost a year post-op (sleeve), so my binges are smaller/less drastic than they were, but this is terrifying behavior for me. Please, please, does anyone have any suggestions? I am trying to be cognizant, trying to "avoid" those foods I know are not good for me.... I hate seeing it, but I religiously log EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth, so I feel like I am not completely giving up. Please, anyone been here? Any advice? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!! I don't want to EVER be back where I was, but I feel like this is a very slippery slope I am on & I don't want to fall...

    Help!! I'm failing & I can't get up.

Thank you for replying. I have reached out, but the best suggestion they have given me is to meal prep. This weekend I am taking my grocery shopping list & then spending some quality time in the kitchen getting ready for the following week. I will be trying your suggestion, about going for a brisk walk, or a physical distraction. I think being thrown off my schedule (no longer working 7am-5pm, 5 days a week), that really has effected me. Thank you for the really helpful suggestions!

    Vitamins

Hi there! I've tried a lot of multivitamins & have found that Trader Joes chewable are my favorite. (& reasonably priced). X2 I also take 3 Calcium chews each day (I prefer "Celebrate" fruit flavors over ones like chocolate or vanilla etc.) D & B vitamins, Iron, plus 1 sublingual B12 once a week. I order my vitamins & calcium chews from Amazon & average about $20 a month. (WORTH IT!)
  7. Woohoo!!!
I had my VSG surgery on Thursday, 11/15...
Some of the things I've learned in the last couple days:
Applesauce is the devils food. (It's the only thing that's made me vomit so far).
Getting enough fluid/protein in is a challenge... Any tips?
(I'm vegetarian, so bone broth is out...)

Walking has always been my favorite form of exercise, short of swimming, but it is now a necessity... get that gas OUT!

& I LOVE nurses!! I was in intense pain post-op & the nurses were amazing.. they were amazing throughout my short stay.
(& they are the only people on the planet that can tell you: "I can hear your intestines moving!" & make it sound like: "& the Oscar goes to...") :D

Thanks to everyone on here who has helped get this journey started.
I'm incredibly excited for the next phases moving forward! :)

  8. Hi there folks! I am so very glad to have found this forum. Please forgive my naivety, or if I'm going about posting here in the wrong way, I'm just very glad to have found such a great resource. I've just started this journey (requesting a referral from my PCP & having a phone interview), but I'm a bit unsure which procedure is best for me. Any insights, between DS & Roux en Y? Also, any recommendations for reference books? What have most people found helpful? Thank you so much!

    100% Overwhelmed/Excited!

Thank you ALL for the support & the MARVELOUS recommendations!!! I have my first meeting with a surgeon on Tuesday! (It seems to be FLYING by!) I can't properly express my appreciation for this marvelous group of people. Your support is absolutely the best thing I've ever encountered.

    100% Overwhelmed/Excited!

Thank you all for your responses! I really appreciate all of the information! I've taken part in the free WLS seminar, I've spoken to my primary care provider, & I've started looking on Amazon for some resources (books/journals/ect.). So far, these are the books that I've got in my shopping cart: "Fresh Start Bariatric Cookbook: Healthy recipes to enjoy favorite foods after weight-loss surgery."- Sarah Kent MS RDN CD "Gastric Bypass Meal Plans & Cookbook."- Monika Shah "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies."- Marina S. Kurian & a set "The Breakthrough Journal"- Beth Bianca "Mindset Breakthrough: Achieve Weight-loss Surgery Success."- Beth Bianca Has anyone read any of these? Does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks SO very much! I feel like there is SUCH a learning curve & I'm just getting started!
