anyone else still really hungry all the time post sleeve surgery? AND does a bypass take away hunger?
Catherine Keegan posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was sleeved in July 17 I started at 148.8 kg today I weigh 108.3kg so a respectable weight loss not the best not the worst. I'm definitely glad beyond words that I was sleeved BUT I'm always so hungry like when you're pregnant and you NEED food. It doesn't take much to satisfy me but my life revolves around food. I had hoped for a different outcome. I am thinking about a bypass now and feel like I should have gone straight for a bypass in the first place but I didn't so here I am. Any opinions or advice? Has anyone else revised a sleeve with a bypass? Does hunger improve? Best wishes to all on their bariatric journey it is not an easy choice and I have so much respect for anyone out there making these choices to save their lives. Kindest regards to all Catherine ( Dublin, Ireland) Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Thanks to all for your comments. It's interesting to think that I had decided in my head it was obviously the wrong surgery choice but listening to what you have all said I think some reevaluating is in order and I think definitely a few carb free days is a great way to start. Thanks again and best wishes to all. Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Well said! That's exactly it... I keep hoping if I take the physical pull of food away like the grehlin that it will stop but you're dead right about dealing with the food addiction side of the process. It's a tough journey! Thanks for the advice though I appreciate it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -
Oh hopefully you'll be ok just try fit near the bathroom so you can make a quick exit stage left if needed. The joys of a sleeve but the benefits definitely outweigh the negatives. Enjoy your night out though! Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app

is gastric sleeve too drastic for me?
Catherine Keegan replied to Gleann's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Obviously I am not a doctor so I cannot day if it's too drastic. I have been sleeved and I really feel glad that I was. My bmi was 39 and I'm 5 foot 7. But for me the sleeve took the will power out of the equation and gave me back control over what I put in my mouth. I too have a few health problems that were starting to present and consultants just said oh if your weight was under control oh things would be better if you were lighter and I couldn't face another appointment without doing something lasting to improve the situation. In summary, check the research. Also listen to Reger Cortells podcast the weight loss surgery podcast and you ( I promise) will get the answer you need. I went into the surgery fully informed and confident in my decision. Best wishes to you and best wishes for your health. You sound like a strong and sensible person. I hope everything works out for you. Catherine x Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Sensitive question about ladies time of the month
Catherine Keegan posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just a quick question, I'm 4 weeks post op and should have had my time of the month but it hasn't come. Just wondering has any one else had similar experiences. I would have been "regular" enough before surgery. Sorry for raising an awkward topic! Regards to all Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Thanks for the advice. I suppose I was regular ish up to now so it's thrown me off but I'll just add it to the list unexpected side effects from surgery. I'll sit tight and enjoy the time I'm free of aunty flo!! -
Just wondering if anyone feels the same a few weeks in
Catherine Keegan posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So I'm 4 weeks today post sleeve surgery. I also got to celebrate this with having a tooth extraction. However, I am currently after losing 30.5 pounds in 6 weeks ( I'm including my pre op two weeks). I was feeling dubious about whether the process would work and today I just became a believer I feel like finally it's real and I might actually achieve my health goals and I feel like my mind is blown! Has anyone else felt similar? Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Catherine Keegan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all I'm just wondering has any other sleevers experienced a weight loss stall in the early stages post surgery. So total since two weeks pre op duet is 23 pounds and I'm almost 3 weeks out and my weight hasn't changed in nearly two weeks. I've also begun exercising and hand to god have not cheated I've been following surgeon instructions. I accept it's such a huge change to my body but can't totally figure out how to get my weight moving. I would appreciate any advice... Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -

Pre-op diet starts today would love advice
Catherine Keegan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm living in Dublin, Ireland and bariatric surgery is not very common here so people think it's weird or a cheat way to lose weight so in summary not everyone is on the same page as me. I'm pretty scared about the next two weeks I'm just wondering does anyone have any tips or hacks to make this pre-op phase as user friendly as possible. My surgeon guidelines are just follow low fat diet. I'm living for the 27th of July so I want to make the most of it. My brother is in the US with his job and he's buying me some bariatric vitamins. Does anyone have any opinions on bariatric vitamins? Thanks in advance for any tips or advice Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -
Pre-op diet starts today would love advice
Catherine Keegan replied to Catherine Keegan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow the liver split story is motivation enough for me!!! Day one I was like a dog but I was down nearly a kg ( mostly water I presume) but in a day it's unreal to think your weight can start to shift. I think it's eyes on the prize and Keep focused on the operation and life after. My surgeon was a little casual about everything and like just make sure I follow a low fat diet with no alcohol definitely nothing as severe as the milk plan you're on!! I'm just eating Exante diet food for the two weeks. -

Seeking advice on behavior modification post surgery
Catherine Keegan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all I've got an appointment with a surgeon on 23rd June for a consultation for sleeve surgery. I am wondering could anyone offer advice or suggestions as to how best to alter my previous negative eating habits? Does hypnosis help or CBT or a counsellor? How best to proceed? Thanks in advance for all your help!! Kindest regards, Catherine Sent from my Nexus 6P using BariatricPal mobile app -
