  2. Happy 19th Birthday nikkikki2292!

  3. After a long, and I mean LONGGGGG 15 month wait, I finally have a surgery date! 01/28/09!!!! Ahhh, I can't believe I finally have one! I had found out on the 27th, but I couldn't get online because my computer had crashed. But it's all good!! I am EXTREMELY nervous. Biggest fear is dieing. I don't wanna die, I'm only 16 and have alot of years ahead of me. Eh sorry, I'm rambling haha. Does anyone have any good idea's of low card food's? As in meals? I'm on a 25 carb diet a day. I went down from 30 to 25, and I need to be at 20 by the 10th. This is really hard and frustrating but I'm doing good. I have lost 8 lbs since the 22nd of December. [: Well I have to go! Good luck to everyone and their bands. Keep safe!! Love, Nicoleee. (:

    Too young?!

I'm 15, waiting for my band. I've been going through the program I am in for almost 14 months. Since I was 14, and I'm turning 16 next month. The reason for the long wait is because of me being that young, my team wanted to make sure I was "mature" enough before and after the band surgery. Since it is a life changing - change. I was waiting for insurence to approve since August 28th. I go back to Chicago on December 18th, HOPEFULLY for a surgery date. I'm pretty nervous. Mostly just scared of something going wrong in the surgery. You know, just the basics. I thought to myself today and was like "this might be my last thanksgiving." But I've always thought the negative instead of the positive. Even tho I'm trying to turn that around. I've taken alot of time to prepare, think about this. I'm still nervous, I still doublethink this. But I know I need this. I can't crash diet anymore. I want to be thinner, not because of a prom dress, not because of boys, okay we'll mabey just a little! But I really do want to be a healthier person. I want to run more then 10 seconds. I want to keep up with everyone else. I want to get rid of my diabetes - or mabey just make it not as severe. I just want to be a regular teenager. I know I'll always have flaws, I'll always have something I won't like about myself. But that's life, and that's what it's all about. I'm here to enjoy the ride, not be miserable. ANYWAYS, lol do what you think is best. Don't listen to what other people think, if you think your ready then let the lap banding begin! Just make sure you have thought about this long and hard. Make sure you have a good support system too, if not with family (some of mine aren't supportive of it) then I'm sure there's a weight loss group around your area! Good luck, and hope you had a great thanksgiving! Nicole

I need help getting back on track

I'm pretty sure it happens to everyone. Just start again! I'm not banded, but soon. I'm 15, almost 16. The band is just a tool, and you have to put your mind too it, to make things work! You can do it! Think positive, get back to working out and watching your intake. Good luck! -Nikki P.S -- Where did you get your band?

Don't you hate it when people compare you with GB patients?

It's all about how people word things. People just don't understand, It's 2 totally different surgery's. You can't believe anyone would complain about being compared to a bypass patient? Uh okay.. :woot: When that's all you hear, is that you'll look like 'so and so' in a few months, it kind of makes you mad because you keep trying to explain to them it's 2 different things. But obviously that didn't happen to you..
  7. It gets really annoying. I'm not banded yet, but it's like, they always compare you to someone who has had gastric bypass. Hello!?!? It's a TOTALLY different operation. Example perosn :"April lost 80 lbs in 4 months, but Suzie lost 20 in 5 months" you: "Yea, but they had gastric bypass" person: "So?" Or when your talking to someone and they are like "look at so and so, that's what you'll look like in 4 months" I guess people just don't get it? s;OJASDFKJFHASDHGFDSKAJKDjlkjmasdklfjasd. Sorry, haha, it just kinda makes me mad.

    Embarrassing Question

Omg. For some reason, I never really thought about this. && I've met my nurses that are going to be in the OR with me. I'm getting a new surgeon I guess, sence my other one is moving. This is going to be VERY awkward afterwards.

A dilemma, I have an overweight child...

Not trying to be rude, but don't tell her. She is going to ask questions, and she most likely will wonder in a few years, why come you can get the surgery done, but she can't? Been there, done that. I don't know, if your anywhere close to Chicago, but they have a pediatric and adolecent weight loss center. They specialize in weight on kids. They have nutritionists, physical therapy, psycologists[sp?], and just regular doctors that specialize in weight for pediatrics. They also have the lap band surgery, but I think that's only for kids that are older then 14. Which obviously shes not that age, lol, but mabey in a few years you can check up on that if you wanted too. But if you want any info on it, just let me knoww. Nikki<3
