    Going into week 5

I am in the same frustrating position. I was sleeved 6/9 and lost 15 lbs in 10 days. I have not lost anything since. It is really frustrating and super disappointing. I can't really help with your questions, just wanted to commiserate [emoji30].

    Endoscopic Sleeve

I was originally scheduled for Endoscopic sleeve in March with Dr. Sadek in NJ. The cost for self pay was $9000 and included all the appts / out patient facility. I wound up cancelling though because I have a lot more weight to lose than the endo sleeve averages. Hopefully someone has first hand experience for you! I did a lot of searching for info on it and couldn't find much beyond what my Dr. told me.

    rice and pasta

I'm not even a week post op yet so can't really speak as to when to have it but Wegmans (not sure if you have that grocery store) makes sushi with cauliflower "rice" rather than real rice and it is amazing!
  4. Hi all, I was sleeved on June 9. My doctor requires Days 1-3 clear liquids and Days 4-14 full liquids. I'm close to my 64 oz liquid goals and about 40g of protein right now. In a day I usually have protein shake, several cups of bone broth (throughout the day), vitamin water zero, Protein2o clear protein drink, and water. My list of approved stuff includes cream soups, sf pudding, sf jello, and drinkable consistency yogurts. There are no restrictions listed as far as sugar content, carbs, sodium, fat, calories, etc. I guess in my mind I'm still thinking that way. My husband bought me some low fat yogurt smoothies at Trader Joe's which have 24g of sugar! I think I'm just wondering what's most important to pay attention to? I know I was told my protein shake should have less than 2g of sugar... does that go for everything else? Is low fat super important? I'm going to call my NUT in the morning but just wondering if anyone has any advice. TIA .

    Hesitant on Diet choices

Thanks everyone! I do have to watch my blood sugar so I'm still in the habit of checking carbs first and foremost. I have been doing low carb for a while now so I think I will try to stick with that. I know it is really rough when you stop doing low carb and then try to get back to it! Not a huge fan of yogurt anyways so I'm okay passing that up. I opted for some low sodium tomato / red pepper soup (only half a serving for now).
  6. Hi I'm from NJ. I'm on day of 2 of the pre op liquid diet, scheduled for June 9! Not going to lie... liquid diet sucks but haven't cheated and I don't think I will. I'm too scared to too! 8 lbs is awesome weight loss so far. Keep up the good work .

    Insurance Approval

I know all insurance plans are different but when I first scheduled my surgery, I said I was worried about losing / gaining weight and the manager of the department that works on insurance approvals said that she is asked that constantly but it has never been an issue. Also, when I met with my doctor initially I was exercising like a lunatic and eating very little as I was coming off a 10 day water fast (just a small part of my life of yo yo dieting). Anyway, I had managed to lose about 30 lbs. From my first appt. in December to now I gained it all back. Shameful to admit . I was just approved Friday (and scheduled for 6/9) and they confirmed my weight (even congratulated me on how good I did fully knowing I gained weight). Odd but happy I am approved. Of course it is best to lose weight and following the nutritionist guidelines or goals but I feel like I just have to be realistic with myself as well. Sometimes I feel like I could eat air and still gain weight. It is hard! Hopefully you will be okay! Not sure if any of this helps but best of luck to you!
