    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

That's awesome! I've gotten 10k a few times since surgery but walking is so boring. I literally go to the mall, 3rd street promenade, wherever just to get steps in till I can lift weight. My dog is a smooshy faced breed and can't walk 4 miles or I'd just walk her.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I usually pay a boatload for unlimited interval classes but I can't do it for 3 more weeks so I'm joining LA fitness to do light weights and other types of cardio. I find walking to be so boring. I actually go to the mall to get steps in and some days reach almost 10k, which is about 4 miles. I need exercise so bad but doc said 6 weeks no more than 10 lbs even though my spoiled dog (28 lbs) made me lift her starting my first night home from surgery.
  3. Does calorie counting and weighing everything mess with anyone's mental health. I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and it's basically all I think about. I have a psychiatrist so if it gets worse I have help but I was wondering if others experience it and the obsession goes away and it becomes a more healthy state of mind instead of bordering on questionable behavior.

    Calorie counting

That's what I'm hoping will happen. I'll settle into a routine and it will become second nature. I think I'm extra sensitive to it all because my sister was anorexic, in and out of hospital and treatment from ages 13 till she died at 26. I think it has caused my brain to be extra sensitive to the fine line that exists between tracking macros and the beginnings of an eating disorder. I think I also think about food nonstop since I don't hit solids till two weeks from this Wednesday.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I haven't done the research so I could be totally wrong but I really don't think it happens unless you're severely overeating for its size. Someone else can tell me if I'm wrong and i can do research tonight when I'm bored but I just don't think it happens if you behave.

    Chicken too early dangerous?

So funny. I'm no steak under any circumstances for at least 3 months. Luckily I don't eat much so it's not a big deal.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I want told 15 min before and 30 after but 9/10 yes. Occasionally I'll realize it's time for my meds so I have to take a sip. It really is difficult.
  8. I (usually) stop drinking 15 min before food and try and last the 30 min post food. Occasionally I take tiny sips. Like others, food then drink too soon can make me on the verge of vomit. Same with not fully sitting up while I eat. We become complex creatures!

    Internal scarring: pre-op problem?

I had a lap cholecystectomy in 2009 and my sleeve 8/23 was seemingly no problem. He just made the incisions a couple inches from my GB ones. 5 in total. 2 small, one inchish and one inch and a half and most painful but that was where they removed the stomach. I also have a 6" incision from my belly button to pubic bone but that was obviously not in the area operated on. Plus I have a hernia through my above belly button GB incision. No drain. No reported problems. No voiced expected problems. Just lots of scars!

    (So Cal Kaiser) drug testing

Strange I was never drug tested or nicotine tested. Required by insurance or my surgeon. Went to UCLA.

    3 Days Post Op

For 2 days after release I paced a lot and slept for about an hour or two at a time sitting up on my couch. The gas and knot in my chest/stomach was horrible. Then I transitioned to side and eventually stomach sleeping. at first on 3-4 pillows almost sitting up now on 1 or 2 if I happen to have some GERD when I sleep. I was regretful for a few days. I even posted about it. Water hurt to drink. For some reason adding crystal light type flavoring, milk, 1/4 juice + 3/4 water, and hint water all went down much better.

    Hiw many ounces

I'm allowed 6 oz for meals (sometimes finish half then the other half as a snack) and 2 snacks at like 2-3 oz each. Usually cottage cheese with fresh pineapple or some Greek yogurt. I give myself 900 calories. Dietician said that's a fine max. Every once in a while I go a little over but usually I'm under.

    Quick question

Like others have said, Tylenol based only. If it has an NSAID, back away. I'm so sorry you have a cold. That's awful!!!

    Chicken too early dangerous?

I just started the soft food/puree phase when I was 15 days out. I'm allowed tuna salad, chicken and egg salad, runny scrambled egg, sweet potato. So far I've been mostly having chicken salad and tuna salad for my meals. Dinner was TJs reduced guilt chicken salad (I think it has a couple naughty ingredients like shredded carrots but in tiny amounts) and 2 oz of sweet potato. I also put small chopped pickle in my tuna salad to make it interesting. Also naughty but works so far and tastes yummy. Double check it isn't included. UCLA's food schedule seems to be one of the most strict and like I said I can have chicken salad. Not chicken by itself but finely chopped soft chicken and plain Greek yogurt instead of mayo. Also allowed soft fish among other things. Soft fruits like banana and cantaloupe.

    FINALLY!!!!!!!! A good protein bar

These are my absolute favorite. I can't wait till I can have them again. I'm in the soft food phase. No solids for like 3 1/2 more weeks. My favs are blueberry pie or whatever and maple donut.
  16. I allow myself 1 Diet Coke a day. Started around 10 days post op after tons of research. It's my kryptonite. I pop a can, leave it in the fridge for about 3 min and just drink it slow. Lots of burps. 100% worth it!
  17. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post op and 31. Dad and stepmom support me but they're across the country. I live with my mom (baby sister died 2 yrs ago so she's a trainwreck). She fully voiced how she was against surgery and how stupid it was and permanent and will f**k up my life. Saying I'm too young (younger the better in my book) and not heavy enough (didn't look it but BMI was 40). I was pre-diabetic, intermittent hypertension plus an awful rare lung disease and ankylosing spondylitis. Surgery should help everything, even just a little. I decided the small risks are worth essentially saving my life and increasing the quality of it. I haven't even dated since 2009. I currently have some GERD but if I sit up during meals and for a little after it's manageable. My doc requires all patients take a proton pump inhibitor like Prilosec for 90 days post op because (I think) most or many develop temporary GERD. If you continue to have it there's always sleeve to bypass revision. Eventually you can drink but your cocktail choices will be smaller and you'll drink less. In a month or two I look forward to a vodka with no calorie mixer. If you have no support right now, find it. Therapist, support group, whatever. I actually met a woman through this forum and we text. She's just about to start the 3 month pre-op journey and has been there for me post op. Holy crap that was long winded. I'm taking a break from a meal with my dog whining for food. If you ever want to chat, message me!

I don't even know how to do high protein foods under 800 cals. I have a difficult time with 900 and have to walk several miles a day just to more or less have x calories eaten minus calories burned equal about 900. I'm 2 weeks [emoji58]

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

So strange. I'm supposed to have 3 full 6 oz meals and 2 snacks. They really emphasize taking advantage of all 5 feedings. I weighed myself last night and was at 229. 14 or so from surgery and the rest from working out. I'm just dying to get back into my heavy workout routine. This walking business is so boring.

    Regret but not regret

So crazy how different doctors are. I was swallowing pills as of the second half of my day after surgery. Took me two additional days to swallow my four huge 800 mg gabapentin pills but now it's no problem.
  21. Hi all, This is my first time posting my own thread and at this point I feel so lousy I'm desperate. I got sleeved two days ago (8/23) and released about 26 hours ago. I'm so miserable I'm regretting the surgery but at the same time I know I won't long term. It's just anxiety, gas and pain making me uncomfortable. The pain isn't too bad but I definitely vomited up one of my liquid pain killer doses and I'm not getting down anything near the 64 ounces or 80-100 g of protein they want. Spoke to my surgeon's team several times today and they were mildly concerned but I told them I spent the day sleeping, sipped on liquids whenever I was awake (short periods of time) and my urination is light colored and frequent. I have so many pills I have to try and swallow tonight too. The first two nights I skipped almost all of them but I have 4 huge 800 mg gabapentin to take. Anyone struggle as much as me right away?

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I got moved to semi solids yesterday at 15 days out. Tuna, avocado, and sweet potato for dinner. I was told 6 oz for meals and like 3 for snacks. So if eating 5-6 oz doesn't make you full, I'm sure it's safe to eat.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

That pain lasted 3 days total for me. I still have some issues drinking straight water (15 days out) unless I sip like a hamster. Sleeping sitting in a chair or on 3-4 pillows helped me sleep. Pacing helped the gas, so did a gas medication.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

It's like Prilosec for GERD. They have all their patients take it prophylactic. I think calcium is added at around a month. I also have to take D because I'm already deficient. Don't know why some surgeons say b12 vs b complex. I know the other B's are extremely important and can cause some extremely awful effects if deficient. I also already give myself 1000 iu weekly b12 injections because I'm extremely deficient there as well. I get nerve zaps and everything without it.

    Regret but not regret

I'm 2 weeks out tomorrow/today? and I'm definitely getting better. Water is still nearly impossible so I sip like a gerbil. I've also had a couple diet cokes, which are my kryptonite but I make sure to drink extra liquids to balance out the caffeine. I have no problem with pills. I think it was mostly mental the first couple days. Today I seriously wanted to emotionally eat (not binge but eat anything naughty) because I got a horrible rare lung disease diagnosis. Treated myself to a smoothie instead. Yes, I exceeded my sugar allotment but it was the best I could do today. Dying for some tuna and sweet potato that I get later this week!
