    Carbonation after WLS?

I used to drink about 2 cans of Diet Coke a day prior to surgery. I started drinking them again around a week after surgery. Along with La Croix. I just drink slowly and (lady) burp when I need to. However, I don't really crave either as much anymore so I haven't had one in a few days. I think because if I'm drinking I want it to be hydrating fluids or protein. I also use straws. Got a Starbucks tea and after having a couple I realized I was using a straw, which my dietician banned. No problems with it. I was sleeved 8/23

    Vomiting with medications

They had me taking pills the day after surgery and it sat heavy but was totally fine. I didn't start my big pills for 2 or 3 nights but that was just because I was scared. If you're really really nervous, no matter the med you likely can pull apart the capsules and eat it with some applesauce or something similar. You just can't chew the little balls inside.

    Vomiting with medications

Im 3 1/2 weeks out. First week or two it happened once with liquid oxy and has happened twice since with either nickel size lamictal or the big 800 mg gabapentin. I don't know which med actually triggered the reaction. I did some googling and it basically sounds like the pill temporarily blocked the esophageal sphincter or something similar so I threw up mucus. Usually happens to people with food and is known as the foamies.

    My sleeve is too big

I've taken a PPI since the day after surgery and it does nothing to help me feel less hungry or whatever but my surgery induced reflux went away after 2 weeks or so. My surgeon requires it for 90 days.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I did that once, I think last week and I could feel the food backed up into my esophagus or whatever. It was awful but a useful lesson.

How many calories do you eat per day?

3.5ish weeks and I limit my macros/calories to about 900. Occasionally more or less. NUT said it's perfectly fine as I'm mostly on track losing a pound a day. When I start my heavy workouts I'll probably increase to 1000 or 1100 so I don't pass out. I emailed my fitness pal and said I understand your whole thing saying I'm not eating enough is for those purposefully restricting unhealthily but I didn't find it fair to favor one essentially sick group over another. Anorexia and obesity both kill.

    My sleeve is too big

My plan says 6 oz for meals and 2 or 3 for snacks. I measure with a scale and usually don't finish it all. I am on soft foods and mostly eat tuna, cottage cheese, rinsed canned fruit, egg and banana. Usually eat around 900 calories but today only about 380 in just protein shakes as my stomach is unhappy. I lose about a pound a day.

    Tummy bloat

I eat around 900 calories a day and have lost 22.5 lbs since 8/23 surgery. I walk between 2-5 miles a day between purposeful exercise and dog walks with my pup and neighbor. I swear I don't see a real difference in my body but the scale says something is happening.

    My sleeve is too big

I feel like mine is way too big too. I joked he only removed half and he promised he didn't. I don't understand it. I'm 3.5 weeks out and have about 5-6 oz for meals and around 900 calories. I can't consume any less. I feel like I could consume more but just stop myself and drink a glass of water.

TAKING OMEPRAZOLE AND HAVING JOINT PAIN

My doctor always has someone on call 24/7 after hours. You need to talk to a surgeon or your doctor's NP. PPIs are important to prevent or treat GERD and you may have to weigh the pros and cons of joint pain vs GERD, which could eventually require sleeve to bypass.

    Can't get over dehydration

I did and still have mild issues with water (surgery 8/23). I can drink anything but water. I usually drink crystal light or the "natural version" sweetened with stevia. I can drink that all day long.

    Tummy bloat

I've lost the most weight in my arms and legs. About 20 lbs since surgery 3 weeks ago. I'm currently in a frustrating stall. Anyway, I also feel like my stomach hasn't shrunk. It's hard to tell because I have a hernia I can't treat till my BMI is below 30. Maybe you're like me where abdominal fat is the last to go. My surgery was 8/23. I'm still on soft foods till 9/28. I eat about 6 oz (sometimes less because of my begging dog and don't always finish) and like 3 oz for snacks. Seems to be more than most but it's what works for me. At this stage I hear people eating tablespoons at a time and I just can't believe it. Told my surgeon I'm convinced he left my stomach too big.

    PERIODS

I've been on a 3 month pill pack that I take back to back for about 10 years. No periods except 4 weeks when I needed to to get accurate blood work. Day before surgery I got it. Had it for like a week and a half. I wanted to murder everyone. But the mesh undies were sexy.

    Tmi!!!!!

I've always just done one serving a day of miralax or two if it's really bad. Needed it for three days post op but then was fine. Every day like clockwork.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I tackled my constipation after not going for maybe 3-4 days. With the uncomfortable gas from surgery I wasn't willing to also be bloated cause I couldn't poop. Did 3 days of miralax and have gone every day since.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

35 days is full solids for me, which is in about 2 weeks. The mash was all soft foods except the turkey but it was fine bits that I chewed well.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I had to track my liquid intake in 15 minute increments. No more than 2 oz every 15 min (in this tiny little shot (pill) glasses) and I couldn't leave till I drank x oz within y hours. I definitely fibbed a little to get home after only one night. The hospital bed caused more pain than my incisions and my particular ward had patients that left me a little traumatized. Less than 2 weeks till solids for me! For those on the soft food/solid border I made this amazing mash. Riced cauliflower, sweet potato and ground turkey. Garlic and a little onion for seasoning. So good. It's not quite solid or soft.
  20. That's so exciting! I'm 3 weeks out today (Wednesday) so in 3 weeks I'm allowed my usual HIIT workout. I'm already down an additional (almost) 20 so it will be fun to see people's reactions. I told one trainer about surgery. Haven't decided if I'll be vague or make something up like removal of colon due to diverticulitis. Friend had it done so that's what came to mind. My hernia is there clear as day so that excuse won't work, especially since I'll need a repair once im below 30 BMI.
  21. I only wait 30 min. That seems to be about the time I can lay down after eating without getting reflux so it seems to work. I'm just so used to drinking during meals. I also try and liquid load before eating. It gives me time to really think okay, am I actually hungry plus it makes the post eating period easier.

    FINALLY!!!!!!!! A good protein bar

I don't really count carbs. It's counted on bariatric pal because I have it set on calorie max and protein goals so it sortof makes up fat and carbs. My carbs basically come from fruit and other natural sources not simple carbs so eff tracking. I don't even really track fat that much because it's mostly dairy fat, which is good for you. The 4th year med student said no, this is the time to only focus on loss and not long term health but screw that. I'm here to lose weight while building healthy habits. I want to lose but her 1 lb a day expectation can kiss my ass (even though I'm basically on track). About 19 lbs and it's 21 days tomorrow/today?. Time flies!

    FINALLY!!!!!!!! A good protein bar

Might vary a little from flavor to flavor. Optimum nutrition cake bites are incredible too. 20 G protein, 5 g sugar (3 added), 25 carbs, and 240 cals for three cakes that could easily be one per snack. They're an amazing nearly guilt free dessert.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I'm not allowed over 5-10 lbs (depending on who you ask) for 6 weeks. But my princess b***h dog made me lift her the night I got home (25 lbs on her skinny days). I thought about joining LA fitness until I can get back to my HIIT but I'm used to 40lbs+. 5/10 seems so boring [emoji19]
  25. That's funny (not funny ha ha). I've only had food issues with seroquel and have never heard of it with gaba. I take 3200 mg of gabapentin. Weight gain is basically a side effect of every medication (except when it's weight loss) but so is nausea, blurry vision, etc.
