    BEST body weight scale?

    Me either. I just assume it isn’t entirely accurate. But it’s still nice seeing my body fat go down and muscle mass go up when the scale number doesn’t change.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

    I have an unbelievable amount of stretch marks on my stomach and thighs. So far no loose skin but if I get it anywhere it will be my stomach, which is where I’m losing weight last. The stretch marks are insane though. The more weight I lose the more they show up. I won’t be able to wear shorts for a very long time. Better healthy and have zebra stripes than be obese.

    Started Exercising..now exhausted

    I’m 3 months out on 11/23 (sleeved aug 23). I started long dog walks as soon as I was off the oxy and HIIT 2x a week at about 5 weeks. A few weeks ago I upped it to 3x and now 5x a week but sometimes two classes back to back. On the days I workout hard I increase calories to about 1100-1200. I also make NSA coconut and blackberry fat bombs, eat whole grain oatmeal as my pre-workout meal and make sure to get at least 100g protein on those days. I was absolutely weak and exhausted at first until I increased my calories. On off days I eat less but I 100% need the fuel on workout days.

    Stalled

    I am right there with you. Im basically in a stall. If I’m lucky I lose 1 lb a week but I do heavy workouts 5-7 days a week so I do know I’m gaining muscle and replacing the fact. However, I’m around 206 and dying to be under 200! My first goal weight is 180 but right now under 200 would make me happy. BMI is 32. I need it at or under 30 to get a hernia repair. Come on weight, go away!!

    I love my greater goods scale I bought off amazon. It tracks weight, BMI, muscle mass, bone density, body fat, and water content. It’s Bluetooth connected so it automatically logs in my app. Obviously the BMI, muscle mass, etc might not be 100% accurate but I enjoy it because even though my weight loss has really reallllly slowed, I’ve put on significant muscle mass. I also measure myself occasionally since I find that to be a better way to tell how my body has changed.

    Head Hunger.....it's real!!!

    What works for me is drinking a 25 or 17 oz s’well bottle of crystal light. Pure water still hurts my stomach. It’s usually 50/50 hunger vs head hunger. Spending the 20-30 min drinking water also lets me really evaluate how I’m feeling.

    Occasionally I drink these low carb grapefruit soda water boozy drinks. They’re only 5% alcohol and a whole can (8-10 oz?) got me slightly buzzed but not significantly. However, I’ve always had a naturally high tolerance to alcohol. I just make sure the alcohol fits in my macros. I’m naughty and had my first drink maybe 2 months out but my stomach and I survived.
  9. I didn’t get drug or nicotine tested but I think it depends on your insurance and what history you have disclosed to your doctor. My insurance technically requires a nicotine test but I don’t have smoking history so i think they just waived it. I’m not sure what my surgeon’s policy on MMJ is. It’s legal in my state so it really shouldn’t be a barrier to surgery. But that’s purely my opinion.

    I’m out about 8 weeks and I’ve only lost 35 lbs and I’m in a deep stall. I lose a couple oz here and there. My scale says my body fat is down and muscle is up, so if that’s true it could account for the stall. I have more carbs the days I workout, which is 5x a week very intense HIIT and on those days eat around 1100 calories but on the days I don’t I eat around 800. Clothes are fitting loose but I can definitely still wear all my old clothes. People at my gym said I’m barely recognizable but the stall is killing me. I’ve increased my fat a good bit, having one or two snacks of 170 calorie fat bombs and it has helped but I’m frustrated beyond belief. I need to be below 30 BMI to get my stupid hernia fixed and I’m at 33. At a total loss about what to do.

    I take my birth control back to back so I haven’t had a period since maybe 2008. Was still on BC but my uterus said eff you. It wasn’t bad but especially annoying when you’re super drugged and wearing their massive pads and mesh undies [emoji85]

    I started drinking La Croix maybe 10 days out. I also have the occasional Diet Coke. I loved it before and now only mildly enjoy it so I’ve only had a few. I’m 2 months out. Worst thing it does is make me burp

    I’m 8 weeks out and totally had a hard seltzer the other night. Low carb, low calorie, 5% alcohol. Naughty but so yummy.

    When I walked I just put a second gown around my shoulders. Honestly, even if you walk with your ass hanging out, no one will care. I didn’t wear anything but my gown and super sexy mesh undies cause my uterus hates me.

    Not to mention her other posts are about her surgery and how she feels. Someone who is obviously searching for strangers to give her words of encouragement, and qualified for surgery should not be judging those who, months after her, are in the same boat. The lack of empathy is sad.

    Holy crap judgmental much? I was never an overeater and have had on and off bad head hunger. I gained weight because of various psych meds and autoimmune disease. Sounds like you need to get your judgmental ass into therapy more than the rest of us.

  18. Is there a support group or meetup in the San Fernando valley? I'm in sherman oaks. Not necessarily a group meeting, I'd be happy with a hang out at coffee bean or something like that.
  19. I’m 6 weeks out and the first few days were awful. No sleep, could barely drink, cried a lot. Now that I’m on solids I’m a bit better but my intake is still so low I’m cranky and can’t do my heavy workouts except 2x a week because I’m not eating enough. I’m trying to get to 1200 calories a day focusing on fat and protein but I spend so much time getting my water in, it’s like I don’t have time to eat! Also sucks that I think my intake is so low I’ve come to almost a total stall. Not seeing the scale move lately sucks!

    My NUT’s advice to break a stall seems insane. 4 premier shakes a day every other day till I start losing again. That’s 640 calories and hardly any fat. Literature tells me I need to increase to over 1000ish, greatly increase my healthy fats, and workout more. Right now I can only manage HIIT 2x a week because I eat so little. Maybe I’m wrong but her way isn’t working.

    Vitamin and Calcium Research for VSG

    I take b12 shots, b complex, multivitamin and D3 because like b12 I was already severely deficient. I haven’t bothered with calcium. If my levels are low at my 3 month blood test I’ll reevaluate. I just can’t take meds 3 Times a day.

    Premier Protein

    I usually love premier protein shakes and 6 weeks out still drink about 2 a day. However, every once in a while I go through phases **TMI warning** where the shakes go right through me and I get diarrhea. Bad. When that happens I switch to the paleo powder or vitamin shoppe brand chocolate meal replacement. Less protein but tastes great.

    I always read it was around .8-1g of protein per pound of body weight. I’d never be able to consume that much protein but that’s the rule of thumb I’ve always read.

    Thank you, I’ll give it a try. My doctor requires a PPI for 90 days so once that is up I’ll try apple cider vinegar. How is the taste?
  25. My NUT is also low fat, low carb, high protein and I ignore all of it except the low carb. Current research says healthy fats are good and necessary. Ketosis and paleo work because of the high fat/low carb. Plus, there’s never really that much difference re calories between low and full fat. At least not enough for me to make the switch.
