I was banded 26June08. I was doing fairly well the first 4 months (-54 pounds) even though I was having some fairly major non-band medical issues the first 2 1/2 months. Then the plateau hit . I went home to Mi for a couple of weeks and gained 6 pounds (really not sure how... was PB'ing every time I ate. Was actually on liquids the last 5 days there. Within a week of getting home, I lost the 6 plus 1 to put me at -55. I have since gained back a pound and have been stuck at the same point for a couple weeks. I have had another fill (7.0 in a 10cc band), I have bought an exercise bike (last week) I have not fallen into the "Screw it... I'm not losing, I might as well eat" mindset. I have added more Water. But still I am not losing. :whatchutalkingabout I know that plateaus will happen, but I am soooo aggravated and frustrated, I just want to throw my scale through a plate glass window. I keep telling myself this too shall pass... but it is not easy at all. Any words of wisdom?

I am at 0 pounds for the challenge today. I am getting soooo frustrated with this stupid plateau. I have been the same weight for over a month now (I am not really counting the 5 pounds loss the first week of the challenge. That was weight I had gained while in MI.. it just put me back to where I was before before I left) :whatchutalkingabout If you hear on the news about a woman running repeatadley over her scale with her car...you will know it's me. -

For the challenge, I'm not down at all this week  I got a fill on Tuesday....hoping it makes a difference. I also went out and bought a recumbent exercise bike. I am hoping that moves me in the right direction. So..... a big 0 for me this week. -
did anyones skin stay saggy after losing weight?
KayleighsMommy replied to glamischick's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm quite a bit older than you :smile2:, but I believe it depends on several factors, including how much weight you have to lose ( how stretched out your skin is already) as well as genetics, to a certain extent. Sorry I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I don't believe there is one. -

*************************************** I made these today. I used my GNC protein powder (banana flavor) and a tablespoon or so of peanut butter. Skipped the cinnamon. Yummy. . Thanks for the recipie. julie -
I really like Heba, but then I tend to root for women who are the "largest" at the start. I feel more kinship with them, I guess.

Those protein bars sound great!! I have to do a King Sooper run today. I am going to get the ingredients and make them right up -
I saw the Renee Williams/Wilson story last night, think it was the 1/2 ton Mom. Very sad. Yep, you're right . My mistake.
-
Did you see the one on last nght.... "Half ton mom"? It was very good, but soooo depressing. I kept waiting to see how the woman (Rene) lppked posy op. She had a bypass, and I kept waiting to see how she looked after some weight loss. I couldn't believe she died. How sad. 29 years old with 2 daughters.

Help! I need some encouragement...
KayleighsMommy replied to gonnaloseitall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to all the new bandsters!! Just wanted to say you will get better. I had a really bad time of things (hernia surgery along with band , a huge abcess <aprox 32 oz of infection taken out> at 3 weeks post banding) and LOTS of pain. In these moments I doubted my decision... The old "what the heck have I done to myself?" But now, almost 5 months post op and minus 50 pounds, I know it was the best thing I have ever done. So, even if you are in pain now... it will get better. Like everyone has said... take your pain meds, rest and take care of yourself. Before you know it you will be feeling soooo much better, and realize you just made the best decision of your life. julie -

Hello, I was not banded by Dr K, but have met a few of you wonderful ladies already. I hope you don't mind me reading your posts? I was wondering if you guys would mind me getting in on this challenge? (if you don't want me too, I understand... but I'm thinking no matter who did our surgery we are all in this together) Looks like you guys had fun on the 4th. I'm sorry I couldn't make it... my daughter had a bad cold, and we stayed in MI longer than planned. I was so bummed about not being able to make it ;( Julie -
I see. Those BC pills can do that to ya. I guess part of the reason I was in the hospital so long was that I was 8 weeks pg and had to be stabilized on heparin first. Then heparing injections every 8 hours for the next 7 months!! I was really a pincushion...heparin 3 times a day and insulin 4 times. Guess that was just all a part of being fat and pregnant!!! (though I am aware you do not have to be heavy to have a PE, or to take insulin) My high risk OB blamed the PE on my weight every chance he got (completely ignoring the fact I have a clotting problem ;( I am now on lifetime coumadin. I am hoping you have everything under control now, and are feeling better.

Has anyone flown witht he band?
KayleighsMommy replied to Jaceesmom03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got back from a trip home to MI. I was miserable the whole time. I was soooo tight. I am pretty sure it came from flying, as well as being in a lower atmosphere (Denver vs Detroit) I was throwing up every day. I ended up on liquids the last 6 days. As soon as we got back here to Denver, I started feeling much better. It looks like I may be in the minority in this respect (which is a good thing) -
Any one experiencing hair loss?
KayleighsMommy replied to MarilynHS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 26June, and I started losing my hair at around 4 months. A LOT of hair. It was so bad I needed to brush my hair before eating, or I would get a mouthfull of hair . Yuck!!!! I was getting plenty of protein. I was not taking my vitamins (childrens chewables) on a regular basis. I ordered Bariatric vitamins, and started taking Biotin. My loss has lessened somewhat. -
BabyCat, Was this post op? I had a Pulmonary Embolism while pregnant with my daughter. I can't imagine having 2 blood clots. How scary I can't believe you were only in the hospital 1 night.... I was in 10 days!!!

How many sizes did u go down vs. the amt you've lost? curious..
KayleighsMommy replied to Crummy78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am down 54 and still wearing the same size pants. I am in a 32 jeans. I have a very large belly so I have always worn my clothes big and long T-shirts to cover the belly. As I lose weight, I am finding my belly is looking more and more like a butt!!! I tried on jeans in a 30 and a 28... they fit in the waist and legs (looked much less clown like) but they were so tight in the belly.... my "front butt" was showing. I have started wearing smaller, shorter shirts with the 32 jeans. I am quite impatient to go down a size (or 10) -
I am planning on coming to the meeting on the 4th, I look forward to seeing everyone. julie
-
I had a great time last night. It was nice meeting everyone. If I talked too much, I hope you'll forgive me. I don't really have anyone to talk to about my band or what I am going through (other than the wonderful online people I have met, of course) so I tend to get a little excited at support meetings. :Dancing_biggrin: julie
-
I plan on being there too . So, see ya tonight!! julie

I agree with that 100%. You can get a pack of spoons and forks (8 piece) at Walmarts for a couple bucks. It is "throwaway". I use it all the time, the plastic is pretty durable, and just the right size!!! Other than restraunts, I have not used "adult sized" silverware (or anything metal  LOL) in 4 months!!!!!.. julie
