  1. Hello, I've been band since last september. My weightloss is slow but Im ok with it. I've been suffering from constipation since being band but Im taking something for it. On and off, being more frequent in the last couple of weeks I've been having pain on my left side, below my port. It feels like a pressure inside, Im not in pain like  its more of a disconfort type of pain. It can hur when Im sitting or even when Im in bed. I feel it the most when I bandover or when I take really big breath. My port site as been more sensitive also. Im going to get a fill in 3 weeks so I'll talk to my surgeon about it. Did some of you had that type of pain? Thanks for your help. Julie
  2. Hello, I've been band for 5 months now and its going great. I forgot to ask my surgeon a question and Im wondering if enny of you had the answer. In Quebec, the surgery itsefl is covered but you have to pay for the band(5000$) what I did. I was wondering if one day I need to have my port or my entire band replace for x reason, will I have to pay it again or it will be covered? Does someone know about this? Thanks Julie

    starting over

I ear you Rosemary! Im exactly were you are! I was band on sept. 8th and have lost about the samte amount as you. I fee restriction only in the morning, but for the rest of the day its like my band is not even there. Sure I eat less then I used to, but Im sure I eat more then Im supposed to. Im going for my 4th fill this next week, and I have lost only 5lb since the last one who was in october. I don't want to go because Im affraid of the reaction of my surgeon. I have a question though what is the 5 days pouch diet? and to Babbs what is a low profile port? Julie

    drinking???

Hello, I was band in last september, I've had no problem yet with my band. Tonight I had a party, and I drank 3 cosmopolitain in a 5 hour period. I just got home and my stomach kind of hurt, it just feel weird. Im not feeling like vomiting, just a disconfort in my stomach. I know we have to avoid beer and drinks with carbonate Water, but what about wine or alcool? Thanks for your answer Julie

    what's up with the flatulence?

If you wan't to make a chili recipe that does not cause gaz and disconfort, while cooking had a few drop of vinegar. It doesn't change the taste but it nutrilize the enzime that produce the gaz. You will never have gaz after eating chili if you put vinegar in it. Julie

    Dilated esophogas!!! Help!

I think its normal, its not easy:scared2: to understand our stomach signals, at least for me its not. I've only been band for 2 months now and I found it really hard to know when Im hungry or full, the only time in the day Im sure that Im not hungry is in the morning. Just do as you said, listen to your body and eat slow, take your time. Take care Julie
  11. Hello Jen, My name is Julie and I'm addicted to scale as well! I just can't help it, I have to weight myself everyday. But at the same time I hate doing it because Im in a 'plateau' so I get pissed about it everyday lolll:thumbs_down: I think Im gonna ask my bf to take the scale and put it somewhere where I can't find it. Julie
  12. Hi, I was band on the 09-08-08, at the surgery they put 2cc in, I was not really feeling restriction. Then on the 10-07-08, I had 2cc more put in. I started having restriction but not like I wish it would be. Then today I saw my surgeon again and he put .5cc in, and now I feel it(weird .5cc that makes the difference). I hope it stays that way. Im in a 10cc band as well, I know you've told us how many cc you have in but how is your eating going? Do u feel restriction or not at all? Julie
  13. Hello, Im from Canada, and was on a waithing list to be on a study with this new telemetric lapband, the study kept on being pushed and pushed back and it finally got canceled last may. They are experiencing some problem with it and are working on it to get it better, my surgeon who was on the study team says it should be available within 2 years.:rolleyes2: No more needle!!! Have a great day! Julie
  14. Thanks for the info. I've been post-op for 8 weeks, lost 15pound but I've benne on a plateau for the last 4 weeks. What is weird with me is that my body is changing alot, I just can't wear my old pants they would fall down on me, but on a scale my weight asen't change in the last 4 weeks???? is this normal or Im crazy? Im going for my second fill this week, because I don't feel enough restriction. Julie
  15. Hello everyone, I've been a member of this site for a while now but Ive been kind of quite, Im 30 and from montreal, canada. I got band on september 8, 2008 and let me tell you I tought I was ready for the surgery, but I had no idea the pain was gonna be this bad:eek: Thankfully it got better after a week! Since surgery Im doing great, I don't have problems with food getting stuck or ennything. I've had my first fill about 4 weeks ago and Im going for another one in 2 weeks since Im not feeling restriction yet. Maybe I am a little but Im not really sure what Im feeling, for all my life I never felt full after eating a meal, so its hard for me to tell if I am or not feeling full(if this makes enny sens)... I've lost only 15 pound since surgery this past few days have been harder for me, I have to get my act together and get back on track. So if someone wants to chat about life, Im here! Julie

    My introduction

Hello Julie, what can I say about me, I haven't been overweight all my life like some others have, actually I started gaining weight when I got my own appartment and it really got out of control when I first started dating my bf, like 7 years ago. Before I was not super skinny but more of a Jennifer Lopez type, big ass:thumbup:... I've been thinking about the lapband for about 2 years now, the first year I was on a waithing list for a study for a new lapband, but the study kept on getting pushed back. See in Quebec, we have a healthcare system that cover most of the surgery, but to ge eligible you have to have a BMI over 40 and other medical condition. I didn't have a BMI of 40, so thats why I tought my only chance was the study on the new lapband. last may the study got officialy canceled, but they sent my file to a private practice were I could have the surgery but will have to pay for it. I met the surgeon and he saw I was a good candidate even if I didn't have a 40 bmi, so he manage to make me have the surgery in the public healty system the only thing I had to pay was the band itself. My BMI was around 37, its not very hight but I tried everything to lose weight and nothing worked + if I didn't lose the weight I didn't want children so everyone knew this was important to me. I have around 50 pound to lose now, and I know its not gonna be easy because its going down really slow now. What else, oh yeah this is funny, when I wrote my introduction, I said I was lucky because I had never had food stuck, but guess what, its now midnight and Im sure I have something stuck, I have nausea, I can't lay down because it makes me feel worst.... I think I should just have shut up:thumbdown: tell me more about you. Julie

Anyone on this site with LB from Quebec?

Julie
