oh my god!!! our great Quebec minister of health announced yesterday that the governement was injecting 29 millions into the bariatrics surgery programs! At first I thought it was only to reduce the waithing time for the surgery since in some hospital it can be up to 7 years! Guess again! the freaking band is gonna be FREE !!!! I just got my surgery 8months ago and I paid for it and I am still paying for it Im so pissed about this, I want to scream :scared2: Im sorry I just need to vent!!!! God I already imagine everyone who know's about my surgery telling me that if I had waited it would have been free !!!! I think its gonna take me a while to get over this one!!! Julie

I had a baryum swallow done 2 weeks ago, I have the cd(picture) with me to bring to my surgeon who is in another hospital but my appointment is only in 6 weeks, and things have been difficult for me lately, relux, liquid coming up at night... when I look at my picture I don't really get what I see so I would like to compare or show my picture how knows what its suppose to look like... Do you have links of website where it showes this kind of picture... Thanks Julie

Hello, I have 25-30 pound to lose before I consider having PS:thumbup:. My port is already visible when Im naked:thumbdown:, so I assume when I will have lost all my weight its gonna be worst... But after a tummy tuck and lipo, I didn't see ennyone here complain about there port sticking out:confused: where did it go lolll mine is under my left breast and I have asked my surgeon to change it to a low profile port when my tummy tuck will take place but I still have doubt:unsure: about the low profile, if it will still show or not? do you ladies have experience this? Thanks

Thanks for the quick answer, Im not really sure what I will get done other then my breast!!! I have a DDD that is going down its disgusting!!! Im not sure for the tummy tuck I don't have alot of excess skin so might be able to get away with lipo, if not I'll definitly get one! other then that I'll have to talk to my ps and see what he think is ok to do and what is over doing it... Like i've said Im not there yet, still have to lose a few more pound and they are coming off so slow its depressing but its ok... I've asked this in another post but Im gonna ask you since you had the surgery, do you see your port sticking out or its well hidden?

Hello Allie, I've just read the fifteen pages of your journey and wow Im amaze at how well your doing! I plan on having ps but not until next year, still have 30 pound to lose. I was wondering how long were your two surgery? I've notice you said you had to drive 1h30 to yoru surgeon office, how was it after the surgery going back home, being in the car for so long? My ps surgeon is about 1h30 drive from where I live too, and being stuck in a car for that amount of time after surgery kind of scares me. When I was band, the ride from the hospital to my home was less then 10 min. and I was dying to get out of the car! Best regards. Julie

Im right here with you, I've been having those symptome since april but first it was only a small cough in the day, then the acid reflux came, so I saw a ORL doc that gave me nexium twice a day, the acid reflux stop but now I have the liquid coming up at night and its like you've said, just after you fell asleep when your body relaxe then it comes up! The past two night have been hell, I'm not trowing up but nearly! Friday I have a barium swallow, then I have to make an appointment with my surgeon since the one I had next week was canceled! Im so sure my band had slip and Im pretty sure when as well. I remember one day having alot of pain that I tought was due to my port witch was very sensitive at that time, now Im sure it was my band! Im not really good at listening to my body! I hate this, Im miserable since I don't sleep well, I just want to know what is wrong with me!!!:biggrin:

I've been wanting to get one as well but I scared a little! Im also wondering do they double dip the 'spatula' in the wax or do they change! I've read that some women got an STD after a Brazillian Waxing because of the double dipping! Did some of you ear the same thing?

I am wondering the same thing! In the morning Im not hungry but I wasen't before the band so nothing new there! for lunch, I can eat whatever I want in normal portion, I normaly eat, 1/4 of fruit with yogourt and granola + a piece of cheese, and for diner then I can eat alot, to much if I want to but I watch my portion. I never have the feeling of feeling full, like the band is suppose to gave us! I PB once because I didn't chew a piece of carotte enough! I am I think around 7cc, I had a BMI of only 36 when I was band and Im a slow loser, actually I havent lost a pound in a few months, Im not happy with my result! I am also wondering what the hell is good restriction suppose to feel like??? Julie

Hello, I haven't lost ennything in a few months, I wen't for a fill a few weeks ago, was to tight had to get unfilled! Now I have to wait 3 weeks to get a fill and I can eat ennything. I've gained 2lb and Im scared + I have hurt(hip) myself 3 weeks ago while running( I pushed myself to much) I tought it would go away on its own but no I had to see a doctor about it and of course he gave me celebrex and something to make sure it wouldn't hurt my stomach and put me on NO EXERCISE for 2 weeks! So I guess I have everything against me!!! I want to get out of this plateau, I only have another 30lb to meet my goal but I don't know kick start the weight lost again! Im sure alot of you have had plateau at one point or another, what did you do to get out of it? Thanks for you help. Julie

Hello, so I went back to the hospital, God I hate that place! The nurse that called me was there, actually the departement was close but she was waithing with me for the surgeon to arrive because he was in surgery. He was really nice, he was a bite suprise that I could still drink or eat with the feeling I had in my troat. He took out 1cc and told me to wait and see how I would feel tomorow morning. As he took that cc out, I felt some kind of releif! My troat is really really sore because of all the caughing I had for the last few days, so Im not even able to tell if the piece is still there or not!!! My troat is almost shotclose(Im wondering if my problem was not my troat all along???) If tomorow morning its the same he wants me to come in and have the test that you have to swallow barium and then I'll have to wait(few hours to see my surgeon). Im not sure if I want to wait a few hours + Im sure my troat will still be sore, so my plan is to wait until tuesday(when he is available) and if Im still feeling it then go in and have the test. Oh and the pulmonary embolism thing they said was because he tought I just had my surgery and that is one of the possible complication after surgery. but not for someone that as had there surgery 6 months ago. I'll come back and let you know whats going on. Julie

Hello people, for the last 3 days I have something stuck, its a piece of a cherry I ate 3 days ago. I still can eat and drink but the damn piece wont budge, I feel it in my troat. I don't gag easely so Im not able to make myself vomit to get it unstock, I tried the papaye enzym, the hot Water ... everything and nothing works. So this morning I called my surgeon office, he is not in today :thumbup: they told me to go to the hospital and if he is not there someone else will take care of me. So I went there and the stupid secretary page him, he didnt called back, so I waited waited until her superviser came along, a really nice lady. She told me that the surgeon on call today didn't do lapband, but tomorow the guy that was there could unfilled me but she kind of told me he was doing it only for emergency, so that didnt sound right to me. My surgeon would have been there on monday she asked me if I could wait, I said yes, and I left. So I was home drinking hot tea hoping it would pass and the hospital called, the lady on the phone asked me if I was the right Julie that went in this morning to see a surgeon, I was really impress!!!!!:smile:(the hospital in my town doesn't have a really good reputation) My surgeon finaly called back and they told him my story and he made a few calls and got me a surgeon that do lapband to take care of me this afternoon. I was so happy!!!!! The surgeon that Im gonna see is scared it might be something else, he said something about a pulmonary embolisim, I have no clue whats that got to do with my lapband but will see... I right there with you since yesterday morning, I eat a yogourt I think I have a cherry piece stuck in my troat, and it wont go down, sometimes it comes up but not enough, I can still drink, eat, but that damn thing is always there... My surgeon never told me what to do if something like this would happen to me, I just don't know what to do.

I don't mind the question at all. I've lost around 40lb. so far, Im a slow loser! I had my first filll in mid-october, but he did put 3cc at the surgery. I was scared of getting fills even touhg I didn't had restriction, don't ask me why I don't know lolll So it took me a while to get to where I am, I had another fill in january, still no restriction then another one 3 weeks ago and now I feel what I've paid for! Dr. Miller was always telling me to stop waithing this long in between fills if I didn't feel restriction, I should have listen to him! Im gonna try to boost my weightloss I've notice that I don't eat enough Protein and alot of the girls here say that you have to have your protein each day, so I just bought some shakes so will see. did you had other symptom beside the pain, was it red or something? i've been band for 6 months, and if I sleep on my side of on my tumy, I need help to get out of bed in the morning and the pain is excruciating it can last a few days then go away for a few weeks then come back. I've notice that my scare is hurting as well even though the is changing color(fading away). I just saw my surgeon two weeks ago, I don't really want to go and see him again. + Im scared he would say I need port revision or something... is there ennyone in the same situation as me... Hello, I was band by Dr. Miller in sept. 08 in Drummondville(public system) got to the hospital at 11am and was home at 5pm! He is a really good surgeon, no complication, takes time to explain things(don't be shy of asking questions). He made sure I trusted him with the surgery and that was important to me since I kind of SCARED fo hospitals, I hate them, I usually get sick before going there just because Im to stress lolll He knew it and make sure I was confortable with the procedure so I wouldn't be so stressed about it. The only bad thing I could say is that he is somewhat always late, so you don't have to get to your appointment 20 earlier! I've also been to spa diva because my dieticien is there, everyone there is really nice. If you have questions just aked ok... Good luck with your surgery!

:smile: I've been band for 6 month, my weightloss is slow, really slow, but I was expecting it since my BMI wasen't that hight to begin with. The hardest thing for me is to get over the head hunger, I know my body doesn't feel like I need to eat but my head does, mostly when Im alone and bored. I find it hard to deal with! Do enny of you have some advice for me? (I don't drink Protein shake my surgeon beleive they are not usefull and I should take my protein with normal meal only). Thanks Julie

I've been band for 6 month now, and I have 2 regrets: 1# waithing this long, two years of reflection and thinking about having the surgery. 2# not getting fills at the begining, I was affraid, and kind of tought I would do it on my own without fills!!! Having this as been the best decision I could made for my health even if the weightloss is slow I don't care. I can run now, do workout session without passing out! I feel so much better! Julie

They speak english, more then french I think, and my surgeon is speaking english as well, I see him this week for a fill, see he practice where I live in the public system and alos does some surgery at his private clinic (spa diva). if you go you'll see that there clinic is really big and as the wow effect when you come in. Hello everyone, I've been band for 7 months now and even tough the weight lost as been slow Im happy with my band, I can proudly say now that I can run without passing out, and today I bought my first pair of high heel boot(regular widhts). Im here daily and I learned alot from your experiences. I read alot about being stuck, but I don't think I've ever felt what you most are describing. I think it happened to me 4 or 5 times, it doesn't hurt, I don't slim or feel like vomiting. It just feel like I have something stuck in my troat, like when you have a cold and always have to swallow because something is kind of itching in the back of you troat. Thats what it feels to me, it happened after eating a salad, a tortillas, a piece of bagel, or chicken... when it was with the salad pìece it lasted for about 14 hours. Is it what being stuck is? or is it something else? Im getting another feel in 1 week do you think I should talked to my surgeon about it? Thanks for your help. Julie

I get that feeling too, I then stop eating and it just goes away, but the other thing that happens to me just last longer. Like this morning I had a bite of my bf bagel(I dont eat those enymore because they will get stuck) and I had the feeling that I describe earlier until 5pm tonight? Weird, Im not sure what it is... Thanks Kissy, It happens to me too, if I sleep on my left side it really doesn't feel good the next day. Actually I can't even be on my left side it just feel to weird. Thanks for you reply. Julie
