jene786 reacted to The New Kel in One Year: My JEANS JOURNEY! (Pics)
I am one year out (Surgiversary was Oct 3), and I saw a cool idea I was inspired by, so I saved all my jeans and took an image of them all. Biggest was size 20, smallest (current) size 4. Needless to say I should have taken stock in Old Navy!

I dont know about this...I dont drink soda simply because I dont like it unless Im very sick and then just ginger-ale but my sister who had bypass surgery, manages to get down an 18 pack of beer every day with no issues (other then shes dying and killing herself) . She starting drinking beer right after surgery. Everyone is different. I just think if were doing this to be healthy, having soda probably isn't the wisest thing. I love to smoke especially with a glass of wine but had to quit cold turkey a month ago for this but its worth it. I'm going nuts not smoking and It will be worse when I can't eat but anything in life worth having isn't easy, if it was easy, everyone would do it.

I've never heard this...
I mean they operate on patients with tattoos.
Unless your mehndi is on your abdomen [emoji23] I don't see how it would be an issue. -
jene786 reacted to jess9395 in How has your life changed for the better?
This is a GREAT thread. Lots of good insights.
Yes on people treating you differently! I hadn't truly realized how invisible I was when I was fat! Now people make eye contact, smile, approach and offer assistance... but they also hit on me (despite my obvious wedding ring)!
I love shopping now. I can find things that fit anywhere I go. Which is wonderful but as has been said, expensive to replace EVERYTHING!
I'm active and run marathons. I play and participate in life (water slides, zip lines, trampoline parks) with my kids rather than sitting on the sidelines watching.

Well, not exactly what you wanted but since I had my surgery and lost the weight, I've been promoted 3 times, and now head up my department. So in a way Yes, this enabled me to do that. SO it has enabled me to be a lot better at what i do, and Others dont judge me the same.
I think there is often a subconscious reaction to the " fat guy or gal" that people do treat you differently. If not openly different then subconsciously for sure.
When you lose the weight etc, people see that as a sign of responsibility and change, and as a result, things happen.

Sometimes it's what we eat and refuse to accept responsibility for it, don't only cut the portions stick to protiens more then anything, and put it in ur mind that u have to do it for your self, try excercising to take ur mind off food and also take sugar out of your life completely, that alone will work wonders for you, plan it meals for the weak and stick on the fridge, as that will help u not to go wrong, we have to do it, if u excercise and watch what I eat u could loose up to 50 pounds in one month, but don't cheat. Good luck

Hang in there. It will get better. I don't even own a scale. I use the mirror usually checking out the difference in my neck and back. It's not a scale but it gives me sanity.

jene786 reacted to Welshcakes in Need Help With Hesitation Before Surgery
My surgery is in 6 days (June 22nd) and like you I've been round and round the doubting cycle for weeks, but then if you consider how long I've been in the dieting cycle of loss-gain, loss-gain for over 35 years, then fear of taking such dramatic changes to achieve my life long desire is to be expected.
I've read as much literature, experiences, and facts I can possibly cram into my head
Has it helped? Not sure, knowledge and feelings don't always connect
All I know is I've lived this way all my life, and at 49 it's increasingly affecting my health, and stopping me from doing things I really want to, so unless I'm willing to just sit around and watch life pass me by, its time to give my body a break, it's tired of carrying a double decker bus around.
Time to change for the good [emoji4]

For fasting, you really need to listen to your body, God is merciful and grants us mercy if we physically cannot do what we are supposed to. Your body is not in a regular state and you need to listen to what it needs. I had the VSG op around 10 months ago and there's no way I could have fasted during the liquid stage. Alhamdulillah I am fasting now, it is difficult but doable and I try my best to get my Protein and Water in. Allah ghafooron ra7eem and fasting is supposed to help us and not starve us. Listen to your body and if you cannot fast, there's no shame in it.

I'm feeling good, not on pain meds anymore. hair is falling though but was given a Syrup three times a day, three times a week.
I get really tired sometimes and just fall off to sleep for a few hours without meds. Not sure what's that about considering it never happened before.

Then you'll need to stick to their plan then. It does get easier the longer you're on it (at least it did for me). The reward is great, so keep at it!
