I tried everything. What's working for me (It took 10days to work) is Miralax and 3 stool softeners everyday. At day 7 of no poo I got Smooth Move and day 8 was a good day. I was freaking out. Never took that long.

Not much weight loss either. 6 weeks 23 lbs. 3 lbs in last 3 weeks.

Thanks for your well wishes. Yes, we've had discussions about joining yoga and looking up healthy and good tasting recipes. I'm excited and yet still nervous for her but we're only one day away. She's packing her personal bag and getting ready for her hospital stay. Most importantly, she's doing very well with her clear liquid diet. It's only been one day but she's so determined to make this work that she's willing to endure discomfort of not eating solids for a while. The motivator for her is seeing weight come off and energy level go up. I want to be her health buddy for both our well being. Thanks again.

I'm a very private person. I told one or two people including my husband. My mom told my susters and father. She assumed my sisters knew. I'm not ashamed of the surgery, I just don't want to hear what others have to say. Mainly I don't want to have to hurt someone'sfeelings. I have 4 assistants that I work closely with. I didn't tell them because it wasn't their business. Again, I don'twant anyone's opinion. I just told them I'm trying to live a healthier life.

Sorry it took me so long to update the spreadsheet guys and respond to some of you. I have been having a hard time recently after my surgery. I am finally starting to feel better. Thanks to everyone who wished me well!
    Here are my stats:
Starting weight: 282.6 (I think I still have a lot of Fluid retention and swelling)
    Goal weight: 250

I am looking forward to another great challenge with all of you! Thank you for joining!

Actually, the pH level of coffee is not much different than your own saliva. Coffee acidity seems to be all the rage night now, rather low acid coffee, but that isn't describing the pH level of the brew:
    https://espressocoffeeguide.com/all-about-coffee-2/coffee-flavor/acidity/
Now, I don't doubt that coffee could have affected your digestive system. A good, strong cup of Joe can send me waddling to the bathroom with cheeks clenched tighter than a tube top in a trailer park. But it is related to the concentration of caffiene and not the pH of the coffee.

My first 2 days were rough. I just slept and hurt. I didn't have the gas pains, I was very achy. I drank nothing the first day and very little the 1st post-op day. My surgeon kept me a second day because of the poor Fluid intake.
I'm drinking more today. Water, gaterade, and Protein Powder with water. And liquid Norco.... I'm going to assume I can consider that a fluid...he he.

Today I went shopping and was so happy I got teary-eyed in the fitting room. Size 18 to size 10 in about 5 months. At my last NUT visit, she didn't seem too impressed. Am I supposed to be losing faster? It's not easy but I'm determined to keep this going!

Today I stepped on the scale and am 2 pounds down from yesterday. My BMI is now 39.6, which means I am no longer morbidly obese! (Extremely obese doesn't really sound that much better, but I'll take it! Lol!).
To think, I was 52lbs over the "morbidly obese" line, and I really didn't have a CLUE that I was THAT big, and in that much danger for my health!

    Great idea!
I'm new here, just logged on for the first time today.
I am 49 years old and mom to 11 kids. Five are adults are on their own, 6 still at home. The 5 youngest were all adopted internationally over the last 5 years. All 6 kids at home have Down syndrome. I have 5 grandkids. Two years ago I arrived home from Serbia with one of our newly adopted kids, and the next day went for my routine mammogram. I ended up being anything but routine, and I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I ended up having a bilateral mastectomy and going through chemo. I had 14 major surgeries in 20 months. In my spare time I ride my motorcycle, unfortunately it hasn't left the garage in two years. I was hoping this would be my year, but life is still in the way. I love to do crafty things, like clay sculpting and oil painting. I'm not very good, I just like doing it.
Chemo did a big number on my body, but through it all my weight has stayed pretty much the same. I've gone up a little, but nothing exciting. I just can't move anymore. I have chemo-induced arthritis through my entire body. But my cancer is estrogen fed, and fat holds/produces a small amount of estrogen when I don't what a single cell of it in my body! My oncologist wanted 60 lbs gone as soon as I could do that in a healthy way. Unfortunately the stress of being told I "have to" lose weight sent my scale the wrong direction. I just finished 6 months of the dietician visits my insurance requires, and received approval from the psychologist. Now I just need insurance approval and hope to be on the surgery schedule early November.
So who am I? I am am wife, mother, grandma, biker babe, breast cancer survivor, warrior b***h!

Inga1018 reacted to VSGAnn2014 in Anyone lose more than 50lbs in this age group (over 60) ?
I think the only way to start exercising is to start moving -- just a little bit. Then move just a teeny bit more. I honestly believe anyone can do anything if they just do that.
Last spring when I was recliner-bound (yup, could hardly move my ass out of it), I started counting my steps in my head (one, two, three ... thirteen, fourteen ... sixty-one, sixty-two). I literally counted how many steps I was walking each day. Kept a record. I found I was walking less than 1,000 steps a day.
These days, even before being sleeved (happens in a few weeks), I'm now hitting over 5,000 steps daily and sometimes 6,000 and 7,000/day. I've lost over 10 pounds in the last 8 weeks.
I'm now on Day Two of the pre-op diet. I have no doubt I will survive that, too.
It doesn't matter at all what you can and cannot do. Just do that today. Then tomorrow do a tiny little bit more. The next day, same thing. And along the way, be kind to yourself and don't hurt yourself.
If you want some inspiration, check out this guy!

There were several issues over the years: painful knees, inability to travel without purchasing two seats, fear of sitting in unfamiliar seating when out, tired of always being the largest person in my social circle and so on but the final straw was....I broke my queen sized bed frame earlier this year. Alone. Most people break beds having fantastic sex with another party but not me, I sat on the bed and it gave up the ghost. A beautiful sleigh bed that I've had for over ten years was ruined. I was mortified and placed the mattresses on the floor within frame where they still reside. One day, when a decent amount of weight has been lost, I will purchase a new beautiful new bed and hopefully the memories of that day will finally be banished.

    This is really hard.
My grand-daughter told me I was fat...out of the mouth of babes. Went to my son's school concert and had to squeeze myself into the auditorium chairs. Finally made it to Islands of Adventure - Harry Potter's World and asked about the wait time on the ride and the worker told me I should try the seat to make sure "I'm comfortable" before waiting over an hour. I was horrified, walked away and cried in the bathroom so my kids would not see me. Every time I have to buy new clothing, I'm hysterical in the dressing room. I always have to pull myself together before exiting. Seeing myself in photos. Avoiding going places so I don't have to face people. Not traveling to see friends and family because I'm embarrassed for them to see how much weight I have gained. I'm tired of feeling like crap on a daily basis. Especially the back pain when standing for long. I want to hike the national parks out west with my boys without being winded. I want to be healthy and I want to live.
