Ds vs. bypass
fastfoodaddictnomore replied to sunflower71609's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I'm also going back and forth between the two surgeries. I'm leaning towards the one and done. I'm reading that a lot of surgeons will lean you in the direction of their expertise which is Sleeve or Bypass my thought is to go with their recommendation since they are not confident in performing the DS. Being self pay I'll choose the DR that is confident in doing the DS and has performed enough with great reviews. I'm leaning towards Dr A Lopez but am going back and forth on Facility. -

Poopy probs pls help !
fastfoodaddictnomore replied to Amy1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You must be in a lot of pain at this point. If you don't soften it up you will be pooping a bowling ball at least it will feel like it. When I get in this situation only one thing helps. I mix magnesium citrate with sprite or squirt it's nasty but it starts working in 15 minutes to a couple hours. After surgery you can't have soda so maybe dilute with water unless you can stomach it then chase it. The quicker you drink it the faster it will work. Since you have never used it you may only need a few sips. -

Yes bill did not respond. I was approved by a 2nd Dr for the DS and have been reviewing the Facebook page and have been super impressed with the dr following up with patients that post questions or concerns about their journey. Also lots of satisfied ds patients. -

I was approved for the DS for another Dr but am still interested in Dr Illian doing it if he has enough experience and success rate. -

What's your reason for your obesity
fastfoodaddictnomore replied to Siyaa Ela's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm lazy and would drive to pick up fast food instead of cooking because it sounded better. My mothers side of the family is obese and I've always struggled. Due to medical issues I had my blood tested for thyroid and other culprits since I was unable to lose with diet and exercise. Blood work came back healthy but I have that fat gene twice. The clinic offered to help me with a program consisting of chiropractic care, nutrition and all the supplements I would need to lose weight for a low $4500. I didn't go with them but went with another quack paid $2500 for same type of program with 10 lb loss. I was able to maintain weight with diet and exercise but unable to lose. Once I stopped the diet and exercise I gained 50lbs in a year. During that year I rarely have soda or sweets. -

How are you doing another month out? I'll be scheduling surgery soon and will fly from Utah I haven't been on a plane in 22 years. I'm more nervous about fitting in the seat than actual surgery. Can you tell me who you flew with? -

I read somewhere else that Dr Illian talked someone out of the DS to do the sleeve so I had in my mind that he doesn't do them till it was offered on the website. I did request more info from Bill but have yet to hear back from him. My gut tells me to look elsewhere for the DS. I was planning on the sleeve and if it failed to convert to DS. With the way my body holds onto weight I will need to go full force into this journey. I need the long term results the DS offers and would prefer to only have the one surgery. If my insurance paid I would be more willing to take that chance. -

I've been researching there as well. In fact that's the only Dr that has come up for DS. I was hoping for other options. I see lots of great things about DR Illian and VSG and his website offers DS but I've yet to come across one of his DS patients. -

I'm sorry you've been having a difficult time. I haven't had the surgery yet but thought I would answer to get you back at the top of the feed so someone else can see to answer. It's been almost a month now. Did it pass?
